Thank you both for actual useful replies (instead of baseless claims that I am trying to profit over a forum post!). I understand the paranoia to an extent but this forum in particular is pretty bad about it.
Wookie has an interesting theory but part of me initially thought almost the opposite – the item is possibly being over farmed and that’s why we’re seeing a drop now (less than a week after its peak prices). There has to be a decent amount of players farming mats, and if I personally was doing that – I would be going for what will make me the most money. Plus I believe these totems are easily farmed (anything dropping loot bags especially centaurs, and I think grawls drop totems themselves?)…
Two days ago I placed a buy order for a stack and it was filled in ~10 minutes max. This isn’t incredibly abnormal, especially for crafting materials. What I found weird was the fact that my 250 was fulfilled by no more than a couple people (received one for 96 totems at once). That, to me, seems like farmers. I find it hard to believe anyone flipping would be filling buy orders, even if it was a profit, because sell orders should still be more profit.
I would estimate about 2k or so totems anywhere between 5-6s currently listed. While I know someone with a lot of gold could easily buy all these out and raise the price, I don’t see it as an investment someone with that kind of money would be interested in. I don’t have anywhere close to that much so this is all opinion.
And before anyone else claims I’m trying to manipulate the market with this post – I’ve already sold my totem supply when it was high. I personally would not invest in something that seems so unreliable.
