Really now? That’s interesting! How about a ranged class? I looked at Mesmer. I like it, but I’m clueless AF about how to play one. Same with Ele.

Since you’ve been an avid WoW player, you’ll be pleased to learn that there is holy trinity in gw2 as well. ‘Traditional’ style raids got implemented with Heart of Thorns for 10 man parties. There are actual tanking (aggro works off of the toughness stat of your dedicated tank), healing (rangers get the druid elite spec which turns them into healing /buffing powerhouses), and dpsing roles now. Although the limitations on what classes can perform what roles aren’t as restrictive as WoW. If you have the right gear, any class can perform any duty. For example, with the right gear a thief can be a tank; an elementalist can be a tank/healer hybrid; a necromancer can be a tank; etc.

The raids imo are really well designed. Raid content is really challenging; raid bosses go into multiple phases and different raid mechanics are present; etc etc.

So I played GW2 when it first came out. I never really got the hang of the game but I did get to end game, kill the dragon. Blah blah blah. I kind of gave up about 5 months in and lost my account somewhere in the ether. After trying for a couple of hours I can’t remember any of my account details so I just bought HoT.

So I’m at the initial question everyone has. What’s a fairly easy class to boost to 80 and start playing? I kind of enjoy playing a warrior when I was playing so I’m kind of tempted to go back there.

I come from a decade of playing WOW but this game doesn’t really follow “the holy trinity” of class design. So my experiences in WOW I’ve found are pretty irrelevant. FWIW, I played a Mage/Warlock in WOW and loved it. I tried playing mesmer, necro and ele at first and really wasn’t feeling it.

I’m kind of at the point where I like melee in this game and have sorta got the hang of it and kind of like it. I’m really stuck between Warrior and Rev (new xpac, why not go with the FOTM right?)

Long winded post but — choose my adventure for me. Rev or Warrior? I like melee in this game (for whatever reason) and I’m actually comfortable with it. Could even be convinced to play Guardian but I know absolutely nothing about the class.

Also, what happened to this game? The new class design system is confusing AF. I can’t figure out this new “build” system for anything. Is there a guide or a video that’s helpful?
