Depends on your build. High power favors warlock, high condition damage/crit (+ bleed on crit trait) favors duelist.

What is competitive is largely up to the participants. For a lot of SFR people, WvW is a competition and a competition we want to win – so WvW is competitive. It’s pretty clear Arborstone has a similar attitude, only with more people and (I hate to say it) more skill at WvW.

Yesterday SFR had one of the better days of this matchup – if not scorewise, at least funwise.

First VII took the lead on homelands, united a rag tag group of bloodthirsty seafarers and took garrison + bay with lots of good fighting. While this was going on VII (I believe) was preparing for a golem assault on hill keep and assembled a force of 10 golems. Unfortunately for us, the evil french oppressors quickly caught on to our plan and did a mass charge that crushed our golem force. Shortly after the french took their revenge by massing their own golems and kicked us off the map. Still, I think everyone involved had a good time.

Later, OSC with Jude Oscure leading took charge on Riverside borderlands taking garrison, hill keep and raiding bay keep of the orb after some excellent ninja work by a small group of PCP secret agents. Again, lots of fun for all involved.

Overall, Arborstone is just too strong of an opponent for us. You seem to have a good number of capable guilds (Millenium old school, BL, LNM at least) that only the best guilds on SFR are able to match and a much higher WvW population. Coupled with a strong nighttime presence we can’t give you proper opposition – this time

Only thing we can do the rest of this matchup is try to have fun and hopefully learn a few tricks and tactics from our french foes. Oh, and give the kitten a fight for second place :p

Translate British English to American English? Almost all communication is in English on the international servers anyway, I don’t think you’ll need a translator service unless you really want to read the random insults or jokes people sometimes post in their national language.

What EU servers are predominantly English-speaking and would welcome a solo US player and possibly his friend?

EDIT: oh, and one that preferably doesn’t have Ruin on it.

From experience, almost all servers that aren’t tagged DE/FR/SP will have English as the primary language. You might see some chat in other languages, but anything important and/or coordination will be in English.

Seafarer’s rest would definitely welcome more US people. We have a pretty good EU prime time crew – to my knowledge the only server who have beat us in primetime is Arborstone [FR], but our night crew is far too small to compete with the top servers atm.

True, we don’t have enough largish organised guilds to cover everything. And too much whining to do what needs to be done with what we have.

Off-topic: SR the same soul reapers that used to play planetside?

As long there’s a fight to be had, I’m happy. Even if we get owned. Not everyone seems to agree with me, unfortunately. Anyway, it’s just 4 more days and Arborstone can move up to get wtfpwned by the two super night zerg servers (or not, you’ll face much, much stiffer night time competition and lose a good few fair weather players either way) while we will move down a tier and fight Kodash and Blacktide again.

I wish I could say arborstone is only winning due to nightzergs. Unfortunately, that isnt the case. They are performing well at all times of day with the advantage of upgraded keeps/towers and all orbs, combined with the worst SFR performance I have seen makes them dominate even in primetime. As it is now, it’s a fight for second place. Riverside and SFR seem quite even at least.

P.S. Who cares if arborstone nightzerg is french or canadian? The fact is you have a nighttime crew far beyond what the other servers have, and this gives you a huge advantage in score and daytime starting position. Actually, you have pop advantage throughout the day it seems, SFR has at best queues for EBG + 1 borderland in primetime atm.
