Guys, if you are talking about PU being ‘cheese/stupid/boring’, try getting a hambow warrior. I created one just to test it and I was literally spamming 12345 and it was amazing how many people were dying from it. This was just ridiculous given the fact I had no experience playing a warrior.
Now, getting back to countering PU, as it was mentioned in this thread, heavy condo builds (like condo necros, engis, etc) can easily counter PU builds, as they have relatively low condi removal, also lockdown mesmers do a good job killing them. One thing to try is actually play a PU mesmer, know the strategy and then having that knowledge counter it. You will know how the stealth works, for how long, what is the opponent doing while he is in stealth, which way is he probably heading to and for what purpose and think of ways you can counter it. So being one step ahead is very helpful.
Moreover, to repeat what has already been said, this build is less frustrating to play against as you can COMPLETELY IGNORE it.
Also, if you haven’t noticed, this patch introduced some ways to counter the general condi meta. And PU’s being generally condi build take the hit.

Actually I have been thinking about that too. It’s just too ‘mesmery’ skill. Like we have a unique distortion skill, we should also get hallucination (maybe shared with necros)…
I think the mesmer discussion has been pretty positive overall and productive but I wanted to bring up some points that I am seeing and some new ones as well.
Scepter
Scepter is still missing something but we don’t want to overload the autoattack as we think that promotes more mindless play and are trying to move away from builds that focus so much on the “1” skill. I feel like that scepter should be the tricksy defender that can stop enemies from attacking and defend allies, but maybe it’s single target nature is keeping that from working.

How about making our Scepter 1 to be something like Guardian’s Staff 1? I mean hitting more than 1 target. Or maybe change the speed or add conditions, as necro scepter 1 skill?

Guys, the class is called ‘necromancer’, not ‘twisted engineer’
Though I definitely would like to see a visual change in our minions, they are terribly ugly now.
I’ve said this one before. If we were meant to have a “ranking” of out-of-combat speed:
- ANet coded themselves into a corner by changing all move Signets to be 20%
- They should’ve instead ranked them by “desired” speed class. For instance:
1.) Assuming Thieves are the “masters” of speed, then they would pack 20%
2.) Other classes could then run at -say- 10-15%
3.) This would have freed up the ability to toss an OOC speed boost to us and
Guardians, without all the whinging about “OP.” At least, one would hope.
Thieves still are the fastest, they can trait for +50% speed while in stealth
Before my grammar horror party starts i’d want to say
a) I’m not a necro fan boy, but the necro is my main
b) I play Spvp (In fact i’m champion hunter (yeah, champion hunter) and i played a lot of tournaments with my necro too) In fact i stopped playing due the hilarious matchmaking system, and because it becomes monotonous
c) I have a guardian // mesmer in full ascended
d) I got a thief // ranger in full exotics
I got no problems to post my pics here
What i’m trying to say is that i’m not fully biased, I played all the games modes, I played almost all classes and in my opinion necromancers are #########
I’m using the same terror build since months, seems that .5 seconds more on doom (when the enemy is way too close to me) and a glowing wall that even a 5 years old child could avoid made me overpowered
When you claim that a backstab damage is way too high people respond “l2p roll a thief and learn how to counter”, so i did
But when people bounce against this glowing wall the response is “okay we’ll nerf it”
You gave me burning when nobody ask for it
You gave me a new DoT condition when nobody ask for it
Now corrupt boon, DS, staff marks and terror damage has been nerfed
Yes, terror damage… do you guys have any idea of how much damage can other classes do?
You didn’t gave us tools to survive
You didn’t gave us tools to avoid enemies be able to escape
Our trait tree still is a mess, is awful, is horrible, is painful, it makes me cry
Our cast times still are atrocious
Some of our skills // traits are useless, some are senseless
Why don’t you nerf the backstab damage? Why don’t you nerf the D/P stealth abuse? Why don’t you nerf the enginner // guardian atrocious survivavility? Why don’t you nerf the elementalist ridiculous damage?
Wanna know why? Because you are lacking courage, but you can do whatever you want to us because the necromancer’s community is small, a patch like this for thieves would result in a hell in earth
Anybody here remember when thieves’s stealth were nerfed? It lasted a week and it was reverted
Soon we’ll see less and less variety, soon WvW will become a “stealth wars” when everybody is able to hide // run //burst others
Wake up, nobody plays Spvp… 70% do PvE, 29% do WvW and 1% plays Spvp

Let’s hope when a new tournament comes up, we won’t see another chain of nerfs.
I say play it a while and then see how you feel.
We did a big set of improvements to Necro recently, and we want to make sure we don’t over improve their defense capabilities.
We want to shift more focus to death shroud throug main hand skills, but, again, we don’t want to do this too fast, ESPECIALLY with a major Pax tournament right around the corner.
So death shroud gains may not be as high as you would like, but we’ll keep monitoring them and looking at further improvements to make.
Sometimes I really think that your sole concentration in balancing this game is PvP…. what about PvE, WvW??? If you’re so obsessed with PvP, why won’t you disable necro’s access to PvP altogether? Are we going to see major necro nerfs every single time a tournament is being organised? This is really ridiculous.

rofl… Either all other players were complete idiots (possible, but improbable), or blind (again possible, but improbable). Therefore, stop listening to every stupid chit-chat and if you are so keen to find out whether or not a certain class is overpowered and ‘unfair’, just create one yourself and test it.
