I may have found a fix with anet’s help. I went through tech support and they had me disable all services and startup to see if the game would run without freeze, and it ran fine. S i re enabled everything but the nvidia 3d driver and the game is running fine. Let me know if this works for anyone else

Yesterday I ran prime 95 for 3 hours, then ran 3dmark vantage and loaded a few games like BF3 to stress my cpu and gpu. Everything ran fine, with guild wars continuing to be the only problem.

I have used prime 95 for testing and it comes up fine every single time. Guild wars 2 is the only program that does this to my pc.

I left my pc on with the launcher in the background while just doing simple tasks like using chrome or spotify, and froze up. Not really sure how to proceed since this is off a fresh os install.

Sorry its been a few days since I have replied to this but I haven’t had time to run gw2. I did a full restore because after fixing my previous issue with the default cache problem. The freeze up was still happening so I decided to restore. After a restore the game fully updated and ran fine. However after closing out the game I left the launcher on in the background and my computer froze up.

After this I decided to edit my regsitry and switch my hd’s to ahci mode. They were on IDE so I am going to test and see if this will fix the issue.

I have been doing more testing and my launcher can’t get past 3% downloaded without crashing. I even tried the -repair tag. I am going to try and install via the cd but I think I am still going to freeze up. No other program does this to my pc.

I have done all of the same. I just ran prime 95 to stress my cpu and see if that might have been an issue, but it ran fine and passed. It seems like its some type of memory leak to me

Whenever I run guild wars 2 on my pc, even just the launcher for updates, my computer freezes. The only game or program that does this is guild wars 2. What happens, is my mouse will start slowing down, and then everything just halts. No error, no code, just complete freeze. Ctrl alt delete does nothing and the only option is a hard reset.

Here are my main specs
i5 2400, not over clocked
Gtx 460 with latest drivers, also tried with previous
8 gigs of kingston hyper x ram, ran mem test as a just in case and the ram is fine

Deleting the local cache in my documents fixed the problem. I really appreciate the help.

It’s all good man

I installed it on a second drive in a folder I use for games. My main hard drive is an ssd so I install games on a normal hd. I haven’t tried the local cache but I will.

Also did the ncsoft diagnostic and sent that in.

Also the game installs fine, it’s when the launcher checks for updates that it crashes. As I said initially.

I actually did those things after the client crashed from updating and other solutions would not work. In many cases programs will not install if there are previous installation conflicts. Hence why people clean registries and use programs like revo uninstaller.

A clean install of windows for one game not working? Sorry, why are you on this forum? That’s the equivalent of saying press alt-f4 in game for free gold.

Guild wars 2 was causing my computer to freeze to the point of hard reset, so I uninstalled it completely and decided to re download. I ran the setup.exe and after choosing the install location the launcher checks for updates. When it does this the launcher crashes. Any suggestions?

I have tried cleaning my registry, turning off antivirus, editing/rollingback/updating nvidia drivers, uninstalling with revo
