Finally I got an answer from CS, but its the same everyone else got, and is exactly as I feared:

We are aware of some ongoing issues with quests. These issues are being actively investigated and we have already implemented several fixes that have cleared up many of the problems. However, we know that there is still more work to do and the development team is actively investigating the remaining issues.
At this time, the Guild Wars 2 Support Team is unable to manually fix this or to change which quest your character is on. :-(

As I see it, they will fix (or have already fixed) the bug itself, but not the consequences it had on our characters … and on top of that, we are not even given any info about it.

Story Step: level 30
Party Leader: Thalia Dimar
I was skipped to “Forewarned is Forearmed.”, the party leader is still on the right track.
I hope that a fix will be on its way fast, not only fixing the bug itself, but also fixing our characters.
