If it’s fixed, why isn’t it mentioned in the patch notes?

This is bigger news then getting 20 new elite skills + guaranteed percusor drops from end bosses in instances (no it’s not added, just an illustration).

In bug fix section of patch notes only some lame stuff is added not this which isn’t an inconvenience and not game breaking for a full segment of players!

I haven’t played since the wvw patch and will not play until it’s fixed. I will not make a windows partition on mine as work requires an encrypted hd and I’m not spending a small fortune on a license for an os that makes me gag from the history I have with it in my work. I’m simply waiting to see when they come with a fix, in the mean while I’m having fun with alternatives with true platform support – gotta love 200 fps+ … I will come back to the game if they come with a fix in a timely manner though.

Just a note for the macowners, considering they did changes to the rendering engine to speed up AMD hardware and this clashed with the mac client. Its not a trivial fix and not even if they took down the entire nvida series of cards it would still not be solvable within 24 hours. We got an official statement and I hope they keep us in the loop, silence is pretty much the full guarantee of getting angry customers as our fancy new built kindergarten found out as they lost 30% of the kids trying to keep a lid on something and not keep parents updated :P

I’m still at unplayable state for my installation so I watched a few movies this weekend and trying out some other games while I wait for a fix to the renderer so I can start kill people again.

A plee to ANet make sure to keep us updated even if its just a lame post which say sorry not found anything yet so we know whats going on and does not move over to something else in the mean while.

I went from 40 at 2500×1400 medium to around 10 at 1080p with low in LA after I took down quality like I described in my previous post.

Did even check the screen card stuff, still running with the nvida so it wasn’t the energy settings either.

I am experiencing the same just even worse. I’m on a Macbook pro 2.3ghz i7 16gb ram, ssd, latest platform with NVida 750m 2gb gpu.

Before patch at 2500×1400 medium settings I run at 90fps in small scale and 1v1, 40 in zergs and 20 in full server blobvsblobvsblob.

Now after switching down to 1080p and from medium to low standing still 40fps moving around alone 20 fps in a zerg vs zerg 5 fps.

Even LA is creeping at extremely low frame rates now.

Our borders are full across the boarder at this time normally so its no change in load. This is gfx issues.

Gem Purchase/Redemption Issues [Merged]

Processor 2,2Ghz i7
8GB memory
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1GB mem
OS: OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) (13A603) fully updated.

Same issues as others with Redeem,

framerates dropped quite a bit after december patch, game is mostly unplayable really 1-10 fps on lowest detail.

cider keeps updating every times I start the game.

Mouse is haywire every time I start the game so have to tab in and out to “fix” it.

No I don’t. I been working on multi platform development for 20ish years now (professionally). However if you have a win only dev you’re in trouble because most of them don’t know about these awsome techniques and what’s available before you design a hardware abstraction layer for the game internals. In general this means a modern design do not need multi platform specific patches outside platform specific bugs. FYI open gl is available on most gfx cards through driver support, and gl is vastly easier to work with then direct 3d. Performance is more or less equal in the latest incarnation, directs 11 vs gl4+, before gl had an advantage, not that it matters. What matters is that macs can’t be competitive with windows when you play, which idd like them to be. Game industry sits in the same boxed container as web designers did a few years back, not using the open standards but sitting on closed Apis so users was punished. Sooner or later they will be forced out of this, and idd rather see this happen to gw2 because idd like to get a more awsome experience on the game I play

And for the DirectX stuff, I know, OpenGL is hardly a big problem with windows, just check out blizzards games

Blizzard targets both Direct X and OpenGL with their game engines. Which is no small feat at all, as they can be remarkably different (and hair pulling) at times.

Many people in this thread severely underestimate the work required to build a native client, test it and then keep it in sync with upstream changes in the Windows client. This includes every hotfix and patch as well, without impacting their current turnaround times. None of that is free, and given the tiny Mac user-base—likely < 1%—hardly a sensible way to spend time, money and add complexity to development workflow.

Hi,

I’m a bit conserned with the massive Maveric update which is coming, are you upgrading the Cider installation to be compatible and use the new GFX in the bottom of the new OS?

I can see this as game breaking for most Mac users as they are quite upgrade happy and esp for me as I might have to upgrade considering work needs me to go latest version.

Ofcourse a native client is the best I could hope for for the new OS platform Apple is releasing and keep the Cider port for the older versions of OSX.

Hoping you can shed some light on this

Depending on how they do the physical layer of their game engine it could translate to many different platforms not only DirectX.

Considering what they are doing to Maveric, this will be an upgrade to OSX which makes it a platform even to Windows for gaming, this is awsome news for us, I just hope ANet and others exploit this fact to the max, its a win win situation for all of us if it gets used

With the news of finally getting last version of OpenGL to osx in the next release and a major overhaul to the gfx support so you more or less get the same gfx features as on linux and windows on mac too I would seriously love getting a native client for osx. I have several monitors and using the cider port is first of all slow, 2nd huge issues with multi monitors, not to talk about all gfx glitches, preview on some shoppies not working and the list go on.

Getting a native client with GW2 would be generaly awsome as GW2 is the only game I play, and probably for a long time still, I even donate a bit cash in the app store to make sure you have income to keep the game running.

Still pleeeeease push on and give some feedback on things. Cider been stale for a long time now, and I bet they wont come with a update with the OpenGL version even so we can get a bit better features and speed through cider either. I feel like I have a huge disadvantage in the game esp in massive moments like WvW. Considering Raidish features coming later on I really would like the osx version to get enough performance to join in on the fun. I dont care if you limit it to the latest version of OSX (the coming one) and up, thing is I would gladly upgrade my osx version to get a native client which really works

PS. I will never install bootcamp, takes to much space and I cant handle windows anymore.

I would just wish for a change in the filter part of the url for /v1/events.json

I would really love if event_id take an array of ids instead of only one event, this would save server load and request counts/connections to do a query on say 10 events. you could list these in an array and the server filters and queries one to many events depending on the list of parameters.

This would make it easy to make a quick list of a few events you want to keep a watchful eye on
