Guys, it’s called bad writing. Whether or not this is because it’s an MMO story or because the authors were bad is up for debate, but at the end of the day – it’s still bad writing. It isn’t REALLY a personal story when you toss in a Mary Sue that can do just about everything.
Remember back in elementary school, you may or may not have ‘roleplayed’ to be your favorite super hero (or power rangers)? Trahearne is the kid everyone hated. He’s the kid who made kitten up on the fly to be better than you and everyone else at the playground.
I kept playing the personal story thinking the writing would have gotten better, but Trahearne was the cherry on the icing. I couldn’t take it anymore.
But I can’t return the favor?
SWTOR does not look better than this game. This game is stunning. What concerns me is that I’ve played another game which limited me for the same reason – 32bit OS vs 64bit – I did the work around and it ran fine, plus that game was more demanding compared to Guild Wars 2. What I want is the removal of this limitation so I can at least see if it’ll work or not.
Is the jump from medium to high (textures) THAT huge?
Another post talked about how the branching story bit is non-existent.
He’s right. You get a bunch of choices that affect the next quest, but the buck pretty much stops there. You’re still this hero that everyone loves. Nobody is giving you the business because of a poor decision they thought you made. Nobody hates you. Nobody wants revenge. You can’t possibly fail.
Is it possible that SWTOR did better in this area?
Five bucks says you could run around naked punching children and you’re STILL the hero. Well, not really since Trahearne is the hero because he’s a thieving piece of sh…
PS: Did anyone ever felt like there was ever a struggle going on?

Right here. Personal story. You’re forced to be the hero that everyone loves. You know everything, you’re the hot shot, you’re the star of the freaking basketball team.
And I hate that.
What if I’m a necromancer? I fiddle with dead things and yet I’m the charming hero of old. Come on now.
But why force us? Couldn’t you have at least given us the option with a warning?
I have another game that does the exact same thing – APB also limits graphics to protect the user from the same error. Except there’s a workaround if you mess with the .ini settings, which I have done and never had a single crash.
I can’t access the settings for Gw2 – I can’t test if I’ll run into that error.
I’m aware that this is an OS issue, but I’m playing with someone who has a 64-bit OS with the same amount of RAM, yet has no issues with crashing of any kind. Pretty sure my computer could handle it, why am I limited to the Medium setting?
