Death/Downed Camera...

Let me choose a party member to watch carry on the battle, instead of just staring at my dead corpse. Good idea.

They already have this in the arenas, so it shouldn’t be too hard for them to implement in PvE.

What grinds your gears? List of complaints:

Okay, I’m creating this thread because I really have to get these things off my chest. I encourage anyone else to also list theirs, and lets see what we have in common, and if we can make changes…

What really grinds my gears:

1) Commander Tags: I have posted about this before, and let me steal a phrase I heard recently. Commander Tags are visual diarrhea and are just downright annoying. I dont want to see these multi-colored tags all over the map… its very tacky looking and pollutes the atmosphere. I have already suggested a PvE ranking system, where you might start at a Lieutenant and work your way up to General. A brilliant addition to “End Game”, where you could spend Exp points on leveling up your ranks. They could even attribute “PvE only” skills obtainable through these ranks, adding the “grinding” aspect Anet tried so clumsily to put in place.

2) The New leveling fiasco: I quite simply think this is kitten, and also annoying. Can’t view Vistas or get PoI until lvl 10? Why would you do this, now after I go through an area with my Character just so I can lvl up to lvl 10, I have to go through it all over again just to get these points to get map completion. Simply stupid.

3) Minis: Y cant I see my minis now? I just bought two minis for me and my gf, yet we can neither use them. Is this a bug or just bad programming?

This is all the gripes I have encountered thus far after playing just a few hours of the updates. I will probably have more. Oh yeah, last but no least…. Anet is out of touch, and I’m about this >< close to abandoning this game all together.

Suggestion: Rank vs Commander in PvE

Let me elaborate a little more, rather than just having the commander icon, each rank will have its own icon, as in you may start at a low rank such as Lieutenant and work your way through the ranks to General.

This does not already exist. Thanks for your links but they have no relation at all to my post, as my suggestion refers to PvE only. Please re-read. How I would expand has been briefly summarized above.

Suggestion: Rank vs Commander in PvE

I move to bring into effect a ranking system, where you start out as lowest rank and work your way up. Perhaps someway related to Seraph?

This idea is in opposition of the already developing Commander system, where you spend a ton of gold and get a cool “Dorito” over your head (I call it dorito because it is already a popular in-game term for the icon) And I understand the practical application in WvW, its uses are little in PvE, other than prestige. Which brings me to my second gripe about the Commander system: Quite frankly its becoming annoying (ex. playing in Harathi Hinterlands last night there were over 30 Commander’s pings on the map AND I can imagine this will slowly roll out of control.

My pros to developing a “ranking system” are as follows:

1) This will grant a bit more substance to “End Game” play, as players could possibly have the option to spend Exp on leveling up their rank, as well as add a variety of events, quests, and missions.

2) Rewards for gaining rank could be monetary as well as prestige, and material (weapons/gear skins) Other possible rewards include new PvE only skills and abilities (similar to those first introduced in Guild Wars: EOTN expansion. )

3) In PvE the display of rank would appear above the players head, similar to the commander and once reaching a certain level, a ping of the rank symbol will appear on the map. This way there is some variety added (not everyone is sporting the same dorito.)

These are just a few of my thoughts, and please feel free to add or oppose. Please share your opinions.

EDIT:
Let me elaborate a little more, rather than just having the commander icon, each rank will have its own icon, as in you may start at a low rank such as Lieutenant and work your way through the ranks to General. (just an example)

Customizable User Interface

in Suggestions

I posted this one earlier, but I don’t think I made myself clear enough on what exactly I was suggesting, for that I apologize.

I would like to see Arena Net bring back the same customization for UI as they had in the original Guild Wars. For those of you who have not played the original Guild Wars:

“In the original Guild Wars you can rearrange the placement of items in your User Interface via Options. The pop up window has tabs across the top, and the tab called interface will allow you to add/remove certain elements of your interface. Options will also give you the ability to move the different elements on your screen, as well as re-size them; any specific element can be restored to its default location by double-clicking on it.”

This would add for a more comfortable game-play in Guild Wars 2: Personally I prefer to use the mouse to activate the “Mechanics” via “mouse click” since the “function” keys on my keyboard are so small. Also I would like to have to option to move and re-size the “conditions and boons” display as to make them more noticeable. (I’m playing on a small screened laptop)

In summary: I am NOT asking for mods, I believe mods would have a negative effect on them game. I am simply requesting that Arena Net grant the ability for players to customize their own UI layout, so that each player can maximize on game-play familiarity and comfortably activate skills. (Players have different size monitors, and keyboard, mouse, etc. are all different.) And if a player prefers the layout the way it is, then they can leave it as it is. Everyone wins.
