Runs like junk on ATI Cards too (atleast on the PC’s I’ve tried it on). ANet has a lot of work to do.
I’m using a slightly dated iMac running Windows 7 32-bit through BootCamp.
3.1 GHz processor
3.1 GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 with 256 MB Dedicated Video RAMI’m usually hovering around the high 20s for framerate, even with everything as low as it can go, in World v World or large boss fights I’m usually watching a slideshow. I downloaded the drivers for my video card through that ATI downloader but I’m not sure if it even installed (I didn’t get prompted to reboot, which I think is a little strange) I also can’t run Firefox at the same time as GW2 because if I do, I get performance issues with both of them.
Strangely enough, I can run Skyrim at pretty good detail settings, and Diablo 3 on medium-high quality without low framerate or stuttering. GW2 seems to chew my computer up and spit it out. What’s really odd is that System Requirements Labs failed my computer for Skyrim due to the video card, but it passed for GW2 and said that it would run very well.
Someone mentioned that GW2 is still running on the GW1 engine and hasn’t been optimised, but I’m worried that it’s my computer that has the issues. Anything I can do to fix this?
Welcome to the club. While your system isn’t that great, GW2 shouldn’t be this demanding as the engine looks pretty dated already.
I’ve tried the game on 3 PC’s and it still runs like crap (10-25 FPS on lowest or max), all we can do is wait for a patch.
The point is, that every wise guy says its my system, but the truth is far from that. I didnt have any problems with my PC, I am playing BF3 for whole day, If I want to with well over 100FPS and nothing happens, I am playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, CSS: GO, Skyrim, Max Payne 3 and so on and on…and NEVER EVER has my PC crashed or I had any problems with performance. So this is definetly not a problem with my PC, its GW2 client problem and an error somewhere in the code.
My nerd rage detector is going off the charts. Try toning it down a bit batman.
You might “THINK” you don’t have any problem with your pc just because it plays other games fine, doesn’t mean its going to play GW2 & that your system is 100% stable. Have you done any stability testing? I’m guessing no..
Why is it that I’ve got six (that’s right 6) pc’s here that I bench/play/test GW2 with & not a single one of them has any issue whatsoever? Why is that?
Consider yourself lucky cause I’ve tried this game on 3 PC’s and it still run’s like **** (and crashes) no matter what I do. This game is the most awfully optimized game I’ve played in years.
The thing is, the game doesn’t even look that good, even on max. We ALL realize it’s a different engine, but when people can play any other game just fine, it’s the ArenaNet’s fault, not ours.
Speak for yourself.

As of right now, I really really regret buying this game, I paid 70$ for it and runs like junk on the lowest settings possible when all other games I play run just fine. If I could get my money back I would.
Give us an ETA at least on fixing your mess of an engine.
This is the most awfully optimized game I’ve ever played.
Have a GTX 260, 2.1Ghz AMD Phenom Triple Core, 4GB DDR2 memory. I don’t have the greatest system but it runs at 20FPS on max, or on low, I don’t understand. I can play BF3 just fine on med-high settings.
Fix your game.
