I can’t even get to Liadri (Keep wanting to say “Liara”), stuck on the raven crew.
Thief seems like the worst class to play this fight with, because apparently the “revealed” debuff is permanent in this fight…
Why in the world would they do that o.O
It’s Anet, nuff said. Meaning they didn’t test it properly or didn’t think it all the way out.
The Revealed debuff is caused by Master Gunner Adil. It says so on the buff itself. I goes away the instant you kill Adil as well.
By “they didn’t test it properly” I guess you were referring to yourself, eh?
Ah, thank you for that info. While the Crew will still be annoying, they’ll be much less annoying if I can stealth.
I’d rather have Gauntlet tickets then have to spend 7s every fight.
To be fair, you do spend about 4s for every fight (And then repair cost+WP cost if you die) if you buy the tickets.

Yup, annoying as all hell.
My playstyle is a backstab thief. With Salazan, I was forced to change my method to P/P, this I did not mind though. One enemy with a damage method I don’t focus on… Doable.
To a degree, I don’t mind it with the ravenous crew either. But, it’s still annoying. I need to dispose of all 4 of them in a ~2 min window, while being attacked by all 4.
It would probably be easier if I had noticed that the reason I couldn’t stealth was that the revealed debuff wouldn’t leave (Perhaps they felt stealth would be of too much use here? Idk, but I’m forced to keep aggro this way).
I do want to make it clear though, I’m fine with a challenge. It is a pretty huge annoyance, but at some point I will get past it.

were you here in the halloween cash grab? theres you answer if this is the most controversial update.
to answer you i think the most awful thing is you dont get any title for completing this. and thats what i find sad.. very sad.
Halloween cash grab? I don’t remember this. I remember the trick-or-treat bags, the clocktower, the events etc.. But can’t think of any cash grabs
Two a day would sound reasonable since there are two per zone (minus Southsun and Orr).
I did all 30 today, and I can understand how you feel, but that is the price we pay for rushing thing.
IIRC, you can only grab one off each zone
They didn’t fix the bugs with Adnul after people asked for the entire event, so I doubt very much that they’ll fix these bugs.
What ever dev thought it was a good idea to put the gauntlet in an area that encourages massive zerging and farming below is a genius. Pure genius! It’s great that someone who has to turn down their graphics every time a legendary spawns just to see the red-on-grey AoE circles
If I remember right, didn’t they address a bug that caused him to use his special more than he should?
One of the problems with this are certain bugs (I’ve actually bugged into a persons Liadri attempt)
This is why I love the Gauntlet. Finally a place where brainless Zerger people just die, and I get to watch them fail all the time xD!
The 1 shot stuff can be avoided too, using the right utility and timing. Havent had a problem with the floor opening yet, and I have tried the Gauntlet over 100 times in total.
And within the about 100 times of doing Gauntlet, I have gotten 15 of the achivements. Only missing Light Up the Darkness and High Stakes Gambler. And I have done it all on a Elementalist with 3 zerg items, 3 soldier, valkyri stats accessory and zerg weapons.
I enjoy the gauntlets and want more of it!
I’m stuck on salazen atm (Using a backstab thief). I tried using pistols, but that isn’t even my main issue. When I’m caught in the circle it seems to fill up with AoEs almost immediately, and those AoEs in turn cause my fps to shatter due to their sheer numbers.
TL;DR: Salazen’s lag attack = OP
Dodging isn’t the answer huh? Strange, everyone else seems to think that those of us complaining don’t dodge and just sit there taking the hits. I do try to avoid the hits and avoid taking damage, but that isn’t the answer, huh? I guess I just suck then. Well, no more of that gauntlet garbage anyway. Not fun, not worth it.
He didn’t mean that you’re a bad player that isn’t dodging. He was saying that in some of the fights in the Gauntlet, you can’t just dodge the mechanic. You have to obey what the mechanic is in order to defeat the boss. And dodging isn’t the way to do it in some instances.
Yes, this is what I was saying.
Yes, dodging in some fights is the way to avoid the instakill, but you can’t just dodge against say, Salazan or the Blinding Light. They have mechanics specific to them to avoid the OHKO attack. Disregarding the mechanics is not the way past these fights.
I can’t get past Tier 1 Fight 4. I get 1 shotted by the blast. Standing in the black spots dosesn’t work at all cause they just damage me. so i’m at a loss.
Try to stand in them for a few seconds…The buff lasts for a bit after you exit the circle.
To the poster above your post: Are you sure you’re supposed to dodge in those fights? Not trying to belittle you or anything, just making sure you know that some fights, dodging isnt the answer.
To the question in the thread’s title:
No. 1-Hit kills are done to make a fight unreasonably difficult for no reason and to suck the fun out of it very quickly. Anyone who claims it is a good mechanic or a “challenge” is lying, or trolling, or someone who likes suffering/dying a lot.
My advice to just not bother with it. It’s not worth the trouble at all. All we can do now is point out how bad it is here, and hope the powers that be actually notice…probably not.
I have no problems with 1HKOs (Perhaps because I’ve had to deal with them in the past), as long as they are telegraphed properly, that is.
For example, during the Blazing Light, if you pay attention, you can see her stop for a few seconds. This is your time to grab the counter.
Granted, if they are not designed properly, 1HKOs are not fair. My view is, if you can see it coming, and if you can counter it, it’s fair.
“Can someone please explain to me that if you understand how to dodge, how are you still getting 1-shotted?
On the flip side, if I’m able to constantly dodge a strong attack, and another player isn’t, does that mean I’m more skilled or more lucky?”(Don’t know how to do several quotes in one post)
Just a small note, I’m not complaining about any of the bosses, but dodging does not necessarily mean you won’t get hit by the 1HKO. Most of them require mechanics to avoid (Stepping in the AoE during the Blazing Light fight, for example.)The “Dodge” mechanic is straight forward. Double tap or key bind it, and the action happens. But you need to know how to dodge, and where to dodge to. If you dodge something, but roll off a ledge, or into AOE, you’ll still be in a world of hurt.
..Yes, I am aware of how Dodge works, sorry if my post was unclear.
The point to that paragraph was noting that if you try to dodge some OHKOs, like during the Blazing Light fight, you’ll have a bad time. Some of them require specific mechanics to avoid, which in her case is standing in her AoE skill, which applies a buff, to be immune to her skill.
Edit: I also want to add an issue I have with the gauntlet, and that is how inconvenient it is to die. Not only do you have to die, and address repair costs, but unless you have someone nearby, you have to WP down, and walk all the way up.
I know, it’s a silly complaint, but it’s definitely annoying.

The Clocktower was one of the greatest releases of Anet. Your thread title speaks volumes to why Liadri is so awesome, and more of the same needs to be provided in each bi-weekly update.
I don’t really like getting frustrated, but Clocktower was so satisfying to complete (Not to mention it got easier for me after I completed it the 1st time). I expect Liadri’s going to be the same in that regard.
There are no one shot attacks in the gauntlet that a) do not have tells, and b) can’t be dodged. If you can see it, and you can dodge it, I’m really sure you can call it unfair.
I have yet to notice a tell on the AoE death from the bubble Guardian chick. As far as I can tell, she simply stops attacking for a couple seconds.
Are you talking about the Blazing Light? I forget her name.
For me, her not attacking for a couple seconds was a good tell, as it almost seemed as if she was reading her spellbook.

About #4, I’ve noticed a trend in when it happens to me.
All the times I’ve joined someone else’s game, I’ve either been in combat, or more recently, died of fall damage and had to respawn.
Yes, in Fractals you can change a number to increase the difficulty of the Fractals. Gambits are completely different, however, in that you activate a specific condition. For example, completing the challenge without being able to dodge.
Interesting, sounds like it might be similar to the Combat Simulator in ME3.
Course, I’m sure there’s other examples, that’s just what I thought of first.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s at the end area right? I can’t imagine doing that while the JP is ticking
I haven’t read through the entire thread, just the OP, but is the OP really quitting and calling GW2 RNG based because of an item that (I assume) gives no one any kind of advantage?
Dear Tixx, I have simply one request for this Winter’s Day:
A Hippotamus
~~Yours Truly,
Seandkiller, The Mad King’s Emissary~~
We’ve had a hard time on this a few minutes ago, until I took out my epic flamethrower and well… xD
That’s some kind of fun! ^.^
I know why I love my Engineer.
Someone in my group took out a flamethrower.
Even bombarded everything with grenades.
Whatever sneaky object it was, we never found it. lol.
By the way, it seems to me that the ‘difficulty’ may also be down to pc specification and lag.
- Some may feel that it melts fast because their pc have rendered slower
- On occasion, I have started jumping but I’ve seen some others still at the start point waiting, almost 3 flakes away before they start.
- Lag sometimes helps and sometimes is bad, it depends when it got connectivity.
No doubt, I couldn’t even play till I turned everything down to the lowest (couldn’t load in before it started) plus there are more particles than in MKCT or something…My FPS gets hit when I’m in it.
Tried it now. I got MKCT before I got this.
Would’ve beaten it, but the DoT gets me every time as I’m going up the gifts.
Every.Damn.Time.
People saying they cannot load in before the snowflakes disappear. Does your system meet the requirements? Because that should really not be happening at all.
Strangely enough, I can play fine on high graphics, but when it comes to load screens my computer can get crappy
The puzzle on the karka island was timed too, it’s what they do to make them more difficult.
No it’s what they do when they want to make a rush job. They can’t do anything like make you think on your feet, that would require thought put into it. Instead they add an artificial “difficulty” in the form of timed events.
People who cant complete the puzzle seriously need to stop whining. So what if its timed, some people enjoy that. Its not as if there arent 30 other non timed JP for you to complete, and not as if you cant get the chest rewards from taking part in other content.
It’s not worth getting mad over. How many people still play gw2? Maybe a few thousand. People getting mad about a jumping puzzle in a game this far in the grave need to take a look at what they consider worth getting angry about. Now if LoL, or WoW introduced something like this I guess they might have a better reason to argue about it. Actually, I would love it if LoL introduced something like this.
On your 1st point, timed does not have to mean ‘artificial difficulty’. Of course, this depends on your definition of that. If they made a jumping puzzle that required extreme accuracy, would that not fall under ‘artificial’? I, for one, enjoy the timed ones. That’s not saying I’d object to different difficulty increasers, though.
Off-topic, do you truly believe GW2 is that far in the grave? It’s a different topic for a different thread, but it seems just as lively as WoW to me.
Same issue as mr quikeh here, really sucks
“Just because something is easy for all of you doesn’t mean it is for everyone else — do you realize how arrogant you sound? “OMG THIS IS SO EASY!@#$!@!!!” You sound like an 8 year old.”
Sorry if I come off as harsh, I tend to do that sometimes, but while I agree that just saying “OMG THIS IS EASY” is arrogant, you should still work for rewards. For instance, when I finished MKCT, it made the exo much more worth it. Side note, I haven’t been able to get past the starting platform due to computer issues but I imagine that I prefer MKCT over WW.
(edited by seandkiller.8471)
only reason I haven’t done this one even though I completed the clocktower is I can’t load in before it starts
Can’t even play the jumping puzzle, I like timed ones though (MKCT was fun to complete)
“It’s way too easy compared to the clock tower. I beat this 1 on my first try the clocktower 1 took around 10-15 tries maybe they could make 1 easy for the majority and a harder 1 for others?”
Side note, am I the only one who found the clocktower easy after the first time? It took a lot of tries still, but then I beat it every time.
My problem is more along the lines of the fact that by the time my load screen finished, the snowflakes already dissapeared.
Finished MKCT, but unable to do this (and I have a fairly decent computer as well), due to the load screen time.
Same here, it gets really frustrating
