I agree with you in that they may need some new ideas. But honestly, just the sheer amount of new content they have already released on such a new-ish game is amazing. But yes, I do see your point.
I just wanted to say something about the support. And no, this is not going to be me raging because I didn’t get my problems solved. Rather the opposite, actually.
For a little back story, I used to play GW2 A LOT. But recently, I had to move, and in that move, I switched to a new internet provider. I forgot about GW2 for a little while, but installed it anyway should I want to play it again. One of my close friends bought the game and loved it, so I decided that I would start playing it again. However, when I tried to get on, my saved username and password were not working. So, I just contacted support, since I had lost access to the email associated to the account a long time ago.
Here’s where the story gets really awesome. See, I figured that the GW2 support team would be like every other MMO. “No, you cannot regain access to your account, you have no proof besides your real name, address, names of your characters, email associated with the account, etc. etc. etc.” I hate when MMOs do that. But GW2, wow. They instantly said that I had provided enough information (even though I couldn’t get my serial key, seeing as it was in the email I no longer had access to) and reset my password. Turns out it had been hacked, and I had lost a good amount of stuff, but I really don’t care at all. Just the smoothness of getting my account back has made me respect ANet so much.
Even when I submitted another ticket asking them to change the email associated with the account, they didn’t respond with annoyance at all. They just changed it to an email I have access to, thanked me, and said to submit another ticket if I needed any more help.
To summarize this post up, GW2 support and Arena Net in general is an amazingly awesome company. You’ve more than earned my respect. This is mainly aimed at all those people out there who complain about ArenaNet not handling things like this well. I can advocate that this is a great company. So again, thank you ArenaNet.
