I main a Necromancer and play both condi and power versions of the class. Currently I have full Ascended (zerker/valkyrie to maximise crit damage/normal damage). I also use full exotic viper gear for my condi set up. Please send either leave a message for me here or in game.
My ign is: The Krypt
I still don’t see why to even use a greatsword. The dps meter I’ve tried literally show me doing more damage with dagger/focus than gs even below 50%. I only sometimes now play around with greatsword having weapon swap sigil and a sigil of rage, or else it just feels too underwhelming. I feel like it was meant to be use as a hybrid build weapon and not a powerhouse.
Not so sure if this is the standard build for condimancers, but it’s what I started using and I know I can get very high bleed numbers.
Pretty sure this build is the current power meta
I’m a “spite/Blood/Reaper” spec and honestly I don’t even use signit of vamp anymore, since the blood fiend siphons 1k health each attack where as the signit siphons when struck “excluding the activation thing”. Also the blood fiend “minions in general” also gain additional life vamp from the blood tree which actually really works well as a wellmancer. Thing I can’t decide though is still between the “signit of spite” or “rise” skills. Both can be very helpful in damage, but rise gives much more survivability having the 50% damage reduction along with each of your minions (up to 5) siphoning a little over 100 health(upwards of about 5-600 life siphon every 2-3 seconds).
I finally did it by turning down the amount of visible players, and watching for the whirl pools. Problem is if your dps is too good he’ll skip the phase, and if your dps is too bad you’ll not be able to lower him to the point of the phase. I ended up running him 11 times before actually getting to that medium point of damage.
So I finally got everything I need to make twilight except Dusk. I am currently finally just about finishing the tier 3 of the twilight Collections, but there was one issue I ran into. I got all of the collection for the third tier but one. Collecting the gloom from taquatls watery grave. I don’t know if anyone else has ran into this issue other than me, but I’ve ran taquatl 9 times so far and have yet to be sent there nor even see any of the whirl pools for going there. It’s been single handed the hardest thing I’ve had to do to get the legendary weapon so far. So I am wondering if anyone knows an easier way of getting this achievement, or if the dev’s have a plan to making it easier such as making the poison that taquatl releases as the gloom you need to collect.
I feel the need to watch this video on youtube every time i’ve failed this achievement.
I’ve been at a constant struggle between chilling nova and Relentless pursuit. In many different circumstances I’ve seen both as a great use. Generally I swap out for Chilling nova inside of fractal use where as in the world I normally use Relentless to rid the annoyance of being slowed trying to run to a world boss or other poi’s. I’ve also found myself swapping chill of death for Rending shout for most occasions. But either work very well for the overall goal. I do have to say with this set up the amount of healing done inside of shroud gets insane. keep running into champ fight getting knocked to around 20-30% health popping shroud and my health goes almost immediately to full when using deaths charge or soul spiral.
I tend to play a lot of pve/fractal and generally I like reapers ability to maximise the necro’s aoe capability. So I’d like to share and see players thoughts and opinions on the concept.
The general idea of the build is to maximize my might stacks as well and the vulnerability stacks on the enemy. The more vulnerability on the enemy the more % of crit I will get, which helps to fully take advantage of the maxed out ferocity I put onto the build. I also set it up so I can generally siphon as much life as possible using well/regen and overall dps so I can maximize my continuous healing to stay alive in prolonged fights.
I forgot about chilling victory, since its usefulness is inexistent towards the buff capability of decimate defense. They should honestly swap the spots of chilling victory with shivers of dread. Oh and kinda curious. why don’t they have any shout that generate life force? I would seriously love a shout that just added life force per mob hit. But currently I generate a decent amount just with the sigil of might+Blighters Boon
Actually make the trait Augury of Death useful and make it grant life force as well as or instead of life siphon

All I’m going to say..
Decimate Defenses+Blighter’s Boon+Sigil of Strength=win
As long as you have at least a 40-50% crit chance and use something that can get decent vulnerability stacks. Every second you get might and life force. Then add in Reaper melee adding might as well your healing even quicker in shroud. The only thing is would like to see is since the whole elite tree is focused around ice. Why not make a trait that does something like "if attacking someone with ice on them gain life force. Could also put a cool down on it and I’d still be happy. That way ppl will get their life force inside shroud and also have quicker life force out of it.
Glad they did that nerf though since it was pretty overpowered in wvw lol.
I really don’t see an issue with reapers what so ever. The only thing the new “elite tree” did was increase our survivability with healing via shouts/boons and make necros a stronger condition based class. Which with the raid coming out when ever. is very much needed. The build I linked was merely a hint on how the new elite tree can be used to help assist the melee side of the spectrum with also trying to maximize the use of necros life siphon.
I gotta say I actually found myself extremely liking this chance and fully taking advantage of it. I set my build so I can maximize my vulnerability stacks asap to be the sort of “team player” and also keeping wells and the new “buff(not really nerf)” to Blighter’s Boon. So now I have high survivability with my damage. Check out the test build here.

Pretty much the idea is to use the greatsword to pull em all in one spot for the party and just pop a well throw out reapers touch and melee to your hearts content.
