Really agree with the purpose of the post, sentries serve no realistic use whatsoever at the moment. They aren’t a threat to doylaks, they aren’t rally points since they just give away your position if used as a rally, really they’re just good for making little flags change to your team’s color and building an easy stack.
I feel like a quick solution would be making them into champs, possibly a champ with two vets by their side. This would make them a little tougher on supplies, and I like the OPs point on keeping routes friendly for caravans. Also they wouldn’t be so quick to kill solo, leaving more room for contested sentry points.
BUT what if after you capture one of these more difficult sentry points, something like 2 superior AC’s and 2 superior bastillas spawn. Maybe pop a barrier with them. This would encourage smaller 4/5 man groups and give a strategic advantage to capturing sentry points. Sure, if a Zerg wants to steam roll your small group they wont have too much trouble… But at least now they’d have to put up with a barrage of siege and a champ with some muscle. Also, in big fights it would really give some purpose to both sides for controlling these points, help them to be the choke points that ANet clearly intended them to be.
I’m really tired and idk if that all came out right, but essentially I completely agree that sentries are useless atm and need some sort of change. There’s my input, I hope everyone else gives theirs and ANet notices this is something that’s an easy fix which could add another aspect to a game mode which really needs some meat on its bones.
next to the bottom of the stairs (in the very last area of the cave where you fight the boss) behind a drapery of vines there’s an open door, it leads to an underwater tunnel that leads into a new open room filled with water.
Has this always been there?
Maybe give us a signet that creates a circle around the guardian, about the size of our increased symbols, and any foe’s increased movement speed is negated while the foe is in the circle
I don’t think we need a speed signet.
BUT
A lower CD on retreat would be nice.
Or keep retreat CD as is and make it so when you pop it, you cripple or freeze nearby foes.
Either of those things would turn retreat into, at least, a useable skill.
Or at least allow guardians to proc cripple or vulnerability on crits…. It only makes sense that an essentially Melee class would be able to inflict those two conditions, which we don’t atm. If I’m smashing a light armor class with my massive hammer, it would make sense for me to cripple or cause vulnerability on them in my opinion
obviously current issues include bad matchups, server pops, offtime spamming, etc…. no this wouldnt fix every problem, but it could be a step in the right direction, no?
What if, without changing the current point system completely, WvW got switched to where you got daily wins?
7 days in the week, making each weekly match up a best of 7.
The server with the most points at the end of the day gets a win for that day, towards the week. At the end of the day, daily points reset to zero for match 2. This would be perfect under the 3 team system, as if even in the event one team dominates the first 2 days and goes ahead 2-0-0, it just gives the other teams more incentive to work together and prevent that team from getting to wins 3 and 4.
This wold be a good solve to the problem of Servers just giving up because they’re getting beat by 300k. Heck, if we got our butts whooped today, we know tomorrow we have another shot at getting a win! I know that some people might say, what happens when a server wins 4-0-0 and its over in 4 days? Let the 3 teams still compete, but offer incentives for the two losing teams for whoever ends the week with the highest cumulative points! And in the event of a 3-3-1 score, let total weekly points break the tie
