Guild Wars 2

I’d say the large majority of our WvW guilds are not 100% rep. Most mainly want you to rep them while in WvW, but there’s a lot of crossover membership even between WvW guilds.

And we indeed have a TC Mumble server that nearly all the WvW guilds and lots of Militia use!

If you are a medium to large NA guild looking to transfer to TC for WvW purposes, we would currently suggest you please strongly consider looking elsewhere as well, not because we don’t want to meet more friendly people, but because we have had a steady influx of guilds in the last 2-3 weeks and so are fairly packed during NA time zones already. Thus we would like to discourage any further significant NA transfers to TC at this time.

If you decide to come here regardless, that’s fine and we will still warmly welcome you to the community! But you may be assigned to EotM during reset nights for the rest of time. :P

Oh, and feel free to join our server forums to say hi if you’re friendly, even if you don’t reside/end up on TC!

I think so – if I recall right, we even waypointed it Monday evening or so. :P For some reason Monday NA afternoon-evening we had all 4 maps queued, and held the entire TCBL, BG hills, SoR bay, and possibly even SMC at the same time for a little bit (not sure if the SMC hold overlapped, that thing’s flipped more than a fish out of water).

Nice close scores between you two (BG/SoR – I totally call you two together BoRGS), in-game and I suppose on the forum too, can’t wait to see how it ends! At least we’re semi-close even though our PPT is abysmal for good chunks of the day.

Random late-night pic (9 hours ago, so not a score update) of when I happened to flip on the scoreboard and see the both of you tied in score for a few seconds. That was mildly amusing at 2am.

You should have seen the yak tail following out. Went on for aggggggggges. I had to go back to normal to use my speed buffs to catch up to the front!

Best part was when we hit north camp. There was a collective groan at the sight of the SoR zerg sitting up there. But instead of attacking us they all turned into dolyaks and charged with us! Was a nice change compared to FA.

Thanks all for being able to look past server squabbles for a few minutes and appreciate that above all, it’s just a game that we all share, and there’s a little bit of yak inside of everyone.

Though my yak escorting achievement never incremented… must file bug report..

Irony actually transferred to SoR last year in the fall after starting out on JQ. The game not really supporting smaller groups in WvW combined with real life caused the guild to scatter to the 4 winds.

Ahh, gotcha. Ugh, that’s really too bad, you guys were great on PT. (Rest in peace.. I still refuse to transfer my characters off even though the server’s long dead.)

Does anyone still play beside you? (Curious for nostalgia’s sake)

My thoughts on the parade in general and the yelling by some at FA for zerging it:

I think FA had all the right in the world to do that, if they wanted. I’d rather they have done that than not shown up at all! For me personally I see the parades as breaking the 4th wall as a salute to the memory and understanding that, behind all the anonymous names, is a person just trying to have fun too.

I like the sheer madness of the event because it’s unique, and because five, ten, twenty years down the road, after everyone has moved on (perhaps even GW2), no one will remember or care about any particular epic fight you had in game. I’m not going to meet random person X in another MMO and be like “Hey, remember that epic fight in Bay throne room in TCBL mid July three years ago?” But mention a dolyak event to someone else that may have been in it, and bingo, eyes light up.

We will remember the people, the friends we make, and the strangely unique events like this that will never happen again on another server in another MMO, as it needs a particular kind of bred community spirit, and game mechanics that must come together for it to work in the first place. And that’s why these moments are so precious, above all else (keeps, camps? pah.), and why even if rampaging death occurs, we need to embrace it and think of it as enhancing rather than ruining the moment.

You hear people raving about fondly-remembered events in MMOs long gone, as being part of the unique culture of a game and how they “don’t make games like they use to anymore”. And then you realise things like this have a potential to turn into memories like that in the future.

But hey, if they prefer the immediate payoff of loot bags and the surge of personal pride and power from bulldozing down a buncha smelly cows, to the long term payoff of all that, then so be it! Well within their rights if they choose so, and we all still get the memories from it.
