I have managed to do it! After you’ve finished the fire elemental, go to the console panel next to the beam. When the shield breaks (you can go in), don’t jump down! Stand to the north-western side to the control panel, and use the illuminator! Maybe you have to click a few times, but don’t jump, it is counted next to the control panel!
