HoD is medium pop so they can get free incoming transfers. Good to know that the other 2 servers will be penalized for having super duper PvE communities. Cause you know, wvw pop was sooooooooooo unbalanced in this tier.
For all we know, the transfers we get could be exclusively for our PvE community, which would be very much welcome too

I’ve been debating about posting this, but I think it is time.
You are playing a different game than we are. Your goal is kills. Our goal is points. It is as simple as that. We generally call people who play for points, WvW players. We generally call people who play for kills, PvP players.
In WvW, everything is about resource efficiency and time management. A good WvW player intentionally avoids fights, if they are a time-suck away from something more important. A good WvW player spends a lot of time not fighting and instead scouting, building siege, repairing, and coordinating. A good WvW player will even build his character differently, so as to be useful to the big picture, which might mean sacrificing killing power for swiftness or escape abilities.
When WvW players encounter PvP players, they see them as a roadblock, just like walls on a castle or defensive siege. A good WvW player will find the most time and resource efficient way around that roadblock. In this case, overwhelm the PvP players with numbers. It only take a minute or two to do, and the road block is cleared without tying up a lot of resourses or making people run back from spawn from losing to a “fair fight.”
The truth of it is, we don’t care how good you are at killing people. We care about points, and you are no threat there. You are an inconvenience, which is easily countered with superior numbers or running away.
If we WvW players looked at you PvP players and said “We are better than you because we contribute to the server point total,” we would be wrong. You are not playing the same game as us, and that is comparing apples to oranges. You are good at what you intend to do, it is just not the same goal that we have.
Likewise, the opposite is also true. PvP players should not say to WvW players “We are better than you because we win even fights.” That is missing the point. WvW players are not trying to be the best at player killing, we have a different goal. It is entirely possible to be a GREAT WvW player, and lose every 1v1 battle you face. Because WvW is not team deathmatch. Sometimes the best WvW tactic is to intentionally die over and over again just to keep the enemy busy. (In fact, we have done that to you before, sent one or two “sacrifices” to draw you away while we do our work.)
So PAXA, keep that in mind. You do not earn bragging rights when you kill a group of WvW players. We do not earn bragging rights when we steamroll you with numbers. The only way to earn bragging rights is to play the same game, which we are not.

I’m tired of talkin about what Henge of Denravi is playin for. Everyone’s free to attack each other and I’m not gonna blame anyone for takin a shot.
I could come up with a dozen reasons why they should have moved to wipe our borderlands just like I can think of a dozen reasons why they shouldn’t have. It’s not black and white (just like Henge of Denravi isn’t one entity makin these decisions) and we need to stop passively aggressively talkin past each other as if it is.
We play for 1st, we pressure the strongest server all the time, but if you go all out on us ignoring NSP all the while, we sometimes will go all out on you as payback.
If the two bottom servers always fight over scraps, the 1st strong server gets easy wins. Why hand them the victory on a silver platter? Make them work for it. That was my point, and still is.
For the matchup to be challenging for everyone, all three servers should push for 1st place. And that stands for pretty much any game you play, when someone fly away with the lead, you don’t help him usually.
That’s my opinion, I respect yours.
Who exactly is this “we” you speak for? I see GoM attacking us while we’re fighting NSP all the time. We were fighting over wildcreek earlier, and GoM came to fight us instead of attacking klovan or something. Some Gom also made a rather pathetic attempt at AP and orgewatch. I was with the group that just took most of nsp borderlands, and some gom (no idea how many) were just around taking hod’s camps camps instead of going for nsp’s suff. This “we” you speak of isn’t your server as a whole. Some of you people make it sound like gom would never attack any of hod’s structures if we never attacked gom.
Also, I’m pretty sure that “playing for first” is mathematically impossible for hod at this point in the week. Hod is coming in third this week. I’m sorry that we aren’t particularly picky about which of the other two servers come in first. Frankly, I consider it a bigger victory when Hod’s actions cause complaining on the forums. If gom really valued winning the week above all, they wouldn’t be attacking hod just because we attack you. Attacking nsp would almost always be better because every structure taken would deprive the leader points, and hod would be more likely to gang up on nsp with you. Gom has a legit chance to win, but you all need to deprive nsp of points. Gom is playing for second every single time they get kitten over an hod attack or see hod as an easy target.
Edit: These censors are ridiculous. The combination of “butt” & “hurt” is apparently too much for impressionable minds.

I guess old habits die hard, and you went back to allowing the server with a strong lead to rack more free points. Maybe it was not your goal, but that is what you achieved all night long. Playing for 2nd place.That’s sad, come on, play for 1st and lets have a healthy matchup.
Enough of the play for 2nd talk, I had enough of it in the NSP-AR-BP threads when that was going on.
Truth of the matter is people take what they can take. Most of us here just looking for some fun and stuff to kill. We try one thing if we get smashed or just overwhelmed in numbers, we try something else. I cant count the number of times this week Ive seen NSP rolling one side of HoD eb, while GoM rolls the other, not trying to attack Nsp at all. I know points matter and people want to win, but unless the march update changes something to where winning matters I don’t see it changing much. And really I hope it doesn’t. In the lower brackets so much of winning is purely a numbers game and coverage holes. I’d hate to see people start getting awards for that.

Honestly, considering the amount of bad blood that seems to exist between you guys (NSP) and your previous tier, I’m pretty shocked that the first instinct you had was to point fingers at GoM, a server you really know next to nothing about.
I do understand that a large portion of the accusations are just from frustrated kids who are mad because it seems their coverage advantage eroded a bit and thus so did their lead last week, but seriously guys… wouldn’t you rather lose something close like that then win by 50k?
The positive side here is that with the GoM win last week, WvWvW should be JUMPIN this week which will mean more fun for everyone.
Goodness…some of you NSP guys and gals are waaaay too serious about this whole message board banter.
GoM peeps are here to have fun. Yes…we’ll poke you with sticks and try to get you all riled up, but it’s all in good fun. Like I said earlier, I’m enjoying the fights this week soooo much more than those we’d been stuck in with DH.
So remember: Darkothe is not for teh seriouz intranets. I mean come on…the name of the server should give you a clue as to the people who call GoM home.
Now as to my request about keeping our keeps and towers clean while you’re occupying them: Are we going to need to start charging damage deposits before you all come busting down the doors? Honestly. Some of you behave like you were born in a barn.

So far from what I seen in these posts and playing one… Engineers need a total overhaul on their skills.
If by overhaul, you mean complete redesign, I completely disagree. The class needs a lot of bug fixes. It also could use some help with weak traits/skills but the foundation for the class is in a wonderful and unique spot.
I’m perfectly content with the design, just not the buggy implementation.

This doesn’t trigger off skills that have self knockback/down or self launch.

(The “knockback” on Overcharge may be considered a “Leap” like Acid Bomb, and Jump Shot, even though in the descriptor it states, “you fall backward…” and it’s even listed as a “Self KnockBack Distance: 300”)
I tried it in the Mists, both out of combat, and in combat. Did not try it in PvE.
They fixed it by making it worse. Seriously we’ve all gotten used to this “bug”, to the point where this fix seems like a bug. A horrible, horrible bug.
It’s an issue because PvE engineers have been spamming heal key + 5 since the game launched. Now when we do that all of a sudden we’re using our weapon 5 skill. Also the delay means less efficient swiftness stacking.
I have grenade kit too, but I NEVER use grenade kit to keep swiftness up because it was a pain in the butt compared to med kit.
After getting little to no fixes and huge nerfs last round, do they really want to continue doing things that make people want to play their engineers less? It’s already the least played class. Yes its just an annoyance… an annoyance to remind me I have other classes I can play.

…has to be this culling issue. The events are interesting but I can’t imagine anet envisioned a scene where most players and mobs weren’t even being rendered.
Seems like this is still a very real problem in wvwvw, and that’s obviously very serious considering opposing teams can even see each other sometime.
Has arenanet made progress on fixing this? Do different system setups have varying levels of rendering issues or is it all on their end?

A lot of abilities are condition based. I personally play a ton of ranger shortbow, which has an auto-attack that is glorious (even after the nerf). My other skills are very situational on the short bow: A cripple to slow down a chaser, a poison spread to lower healing over multiple enemies, a daze, and a dodge/swiftness. There no sense in blowing all those things, and just through smart positioning and auto-attacking, I can put out bunches of condi-DPS.
I don’t imagine we’ll implement something that allows you to observe another player’s “work-rate” because with all the different ways to make and play a character, it would be difficult to measure and quantify someone’s input in a factual way. It’s not about the numbers you make as an individual, but the team-play and coordination as a group.
