Expected changes:
Create separate rankings for solo and 5/5 teams.
Disable queuing with incomplete party – allow only solo or 5/5 for ranked arena.
Let people play between completely random players or 5/5 teams vs 5/5 teams.
There is no competition for incomplete teams, they do not really compete with others.
By changing this, there will be no more crying about some random PvE that joined incomplete team and because of him that team lost the game.
Same as there will be no problem that party of 3 PvE players are queuing ranked arena just to get reward points and screwing up a challenge of dedicated solo PvPers.
Incomplete teams could always join unranked arena.
Please, PvPers, reply to here, share your point of view on this.

I second that!
Yesterday most of the losing games which I had were the matches with half pre-made teams.
In most of cases when I go solo to ranked, the match is won.
Whenever I land into team with party consisting 2-4/5 players, it’s game over.
Why?
Because these people are in most of cases casual PvPers that doesn’t really care of winning.
Like in one of yesterday’s games, one of these people just said “we don’t care about the results as long as we get rewards from the reward tracks”…
PLEASE, ALLOW ONLY SOLO OR 5/5 QUEUE AND MAKE SEPARATE RANKING FOR EACH.
There is no valid reason why dedicated PvPer would go with not full party to ranked – if they do, they don’t care about results. For some these results are important, if you want this to be a real esport.
Hello
I am looking for arena team to play regularly from 20:00 to 24:00 CET.
I am playing power Ranger/Necromancer (or alternatively Guardian).
My PvP rating is around 63, increasing progressively with each game.
My experience is based mainly on playing Necromancer.
Lately I have switched to Ranger and I am pretty good at it.
I always try to do the best and to fight till the last second.
Communication: TS3, chat.
I am looking for already organized team that is perhaps missing last member or need replacement for an inactive player.

A solution for LONG queue.
If average time per map is 15 minutes, then we could take this as a critical time for server to assemble a team.
If queue for certain player takes more than 15 minutes, then server could drop one matching factor to increase the chance of assembling the game.
After that, if it doesn’t help and queue takes 17 minutes (2 minutes later), server could drop another factor for that player.
Then after 25 minutes of queue player receives a message that assembling a match for selected game mode is impossible with suggestion of choosing different mode [ if ranked then unranked or alternatively practice].
To make this to work, you would have to set a priority list of factors, from which to start dropping and at which to stop.

People need to make up their minds.
Exactly.
Hi! I’m just starting to take PvP seriously and wondering what is absolutely essential to know. The Getting Started sticky is outdated since the changes. Are there other good resources?
Thanks
Practice, practice and once again practice. Nothing will make you good, but practice.
Also, when’s this mmr going to get fixed? Being pummeled by dragon ranks on just about every match really sucks the fun out of pvp faster than a black hole.
Rank points doesn’t give any advantage over other people.
You can be nobody, but if you got the skill, you will beat the highly ranked player.
Everyone has the same set of features. What makes the difference, is how do you setup your build and how will you use it to be better than the rest.
There is a small possibility now that you will run into a match against fully organized team, while queuing solo.
Today I had only one game that on my team two classes were doubled. Never seen a tripled class in a team composition since last changes to MMR.
For me it is good as it is now.
Changes are right.
If you are a PvP oriented player, you just stay in the Lobby.
- You don’t have to wait that much for the match anymore
- You’ve got NPCs there to quickly share things between characters or get something from the market
- You can also learn something new regarding PvP from players being over there
If you are doing PvE, don’t bother other people and don’t queue, because they are not going to wait for you nor take the risk that you might not join the match at all.
I agree. I enjoy most of these changes.
When I see all the yelling and complaining people it proves one thing:
THEY DON’T READ!
It have been written that THIS IS A TESTING AND POLISHING PERIOD and they are going to tweak the UI to work the best.
STOP COMPLAINING PEOPLE AND PROVIDE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK.
For me everything works fine, but it could be better if we had the ability to swap builds to the pre-made saved ones, depending on which map we will encounter.
Also, these popping messages are too large. It covers a lot of space even on 1080p.
Another thing is that there could be a message saying, “if you are ready, click the ready button to start the game right away” – because it seems like many people doesn’t know it.
Additionally, please let us assign a hotkey or so, that after pressing B during the match, we could see statistics right away, instead of reward tracks. It’s annoying to swap the tabs each time. Statistics are more important to me and I believe to most of players on spvp.
Also the current players list that pops after pressing B is hardly readable. List of players have now less padding/margins and all of it makes it really bad.

Now seriously.
I am having a problem with my connection. The problem is with the login server.
First of all my client doesn’t autostart anymore. Launcher always forces me to click LOGIN button, after that game starts in 5 seconds. In past just by running the launcher, game checked itself and opened automatically in full screen.
Secondly, client often loses connection to LOGIN SERVER while playing. Out of nowhere I get this error, sometimes during arena games, sometimes just while standing and chatting. Your login servers are ****** **. I am connecting from Poland via stable internet connection. Many times client was frozen on character selection menu, because of lost connection to the login server and I couldn’t click the “Play” button on any of my chars. Sometimes restarting client helps to establish the connection but there is no guaranty that it will get over after some time.
If a disconnect happens just make the match results for the losing team null. This way is doesn’t count against the win loss ratio.
Exploitable.
“Guys we are about to lose and our results will suffer, whos gonna d/c?”
It is not, if you have read about dishonor updates. Nobody would disconnect on purpose, knowing the results.
Like I have wrote in my previous post on this thread, simple solution:
Two teams will finish the unbalanced game. It will be most likely faster than the regular 5v5, because the stronger team will be overpowered and gain points faster.
No hotjoin, nothing to change current game until it finishes. At the end of the match, summary giving pvp experience points as players earned them and the loot as a reward for time and effort given. Then unbalanced game will result with no attributes advance – in positive or negative way. People get what they deserved. The losing team doesn’t win but doesn’t get any negative outcome of the situation. The winning team gets only what they earned, cause there was not their fault in having weaker enemy and they made the effort to win anyway. The leaver gets punishment as it was described in the news article and can not join any further games for certain amount of time.
Pros:
- Winning team gets what they earned by winning [loot, reward tracks progress]
- None of teams gets remark on the ranking table and it’s connected summaries [advance on the ranking table, wins/losses count, experience gain(that last one optionally)]
- Game finishes faster, as one of the team will have advantage on gaining points
- There is no need to implement additional features with hot-joins, frozen time or invitation of another players to replace the empty slot – nobody likes to join already set match or nobody likes to wait until fresh player would join, additionally giving any boost to the joining one would be not fair towards others
- Disconnecting player will not disturb in further games, while being dishonored
- It will stop players from going afk while they are queued or from any other activity that leads to unbalanced match, because of the strong punishments
- It will fill up games with dedicated players
I am not the best at writing, but I hope you can agree that it is a good direction.
There is a solution.
If game ends up with 4v5, no change will happen to the 9 players – their rating stays the same and the game doesn’t count to any statistics, because it was played with unfair team compositions.
They get PvP experience and all the loot stuff because they worked for it, but nothing will be taken out or added to the ranking attributes (won/lost games count) of the winning or losing side.
The leaver(s) gets dishonor (with the simulation like it is now, lets say 3 times within certain amount of time will exclude that player from further games), because if you do disconnect, most likely, if the matter is Internet connection then you will know it and you should be aware of wasting your and other player’s time and not queuing after first or second disconnection.
More or less this direction is fair for each side. Sure the winners would like to have it counted, because they wasted their time, so they get the reward tracks and stuff, but they know that it wasn’t fully equal and they have to agree on not getting any ranking advance.
Correct me, expose it wider, this seems to be the right way.
I would like to see an answer to my question from a dev representative.
Greetings!
I feel that what is missing, is the ability to swap build depending on style which I want to play, during the match, after recognizing enemy team composition, with just one click.
Let’s say, at this moment the only solution which I have, is to create two characters and swap them before the game starts (same class, different builds).
This sometimes cause problems upon re-logging and reduces character slots.
I would like to have the option to use just one character and have the ability to save 2 or 3 different builds on it and load the one that will suit my needs for the match, instead of re-logging characters. That feature would have to save information about equipped weapons with sigils, rune, amulet, traits and utility/elite skills.
That could bring a lot of more challenging battles and unexpected, exciting results!
Maybe the way which I described the feature isn’t really in tact with technical possibilities but the spirit of the idea has been shared.
Are we going to have such a feature within December updates?
Error: “The game client was unable to connect to the log in server…”
Occurs:
- since Escape from Lion’s Arch update
- while playing: Necromancer, (reply, if you faced this error while playing another class)
- while in huge groups: WvW zerg groups, Lion’s Arch events (killing Knights, Scarlet, etc)
- usually after taking huge amount of damage, but happens randomly too
After clicking Ok nothing happens, screen remains blank.
Maybe it’s connected to the Overflow Movement feature, I don’t know.
Reply, if it happens to you and describe when.
I have not changed my hardware nor drivers since the stable gaming. My Internet connection also have been tested and is stable.
