Stuck in beta Coliseum map last weekend. Unable to que or teleport to Heart of the Mists. Submitted customer support ticket #2399001, but nobody bothered to answer.
Every logon in game pops a notice that game client was unable to connect with login server. After the issue where I’ve been looped between Mists and Coliseum I just closed client. Now it looks like on the screen, cannot access PvP, while PvE was working somehow.
PS: your customer support is a joke.
Actually I’ve been running memtest86 for hours during the weekend.
And I have to agree that I had some troubles running my RAM @2400 MHz.
At the end, timings of RAM were adjusted correctly and Memtest86 is not showing any issues anymore. If there were any in past, it was only during adjusting period, when I worked to make it run without errors.
Going further, this is not lack of memory issue. I’ve got 16 GB and i barely use 30% of it at the most.
This error that is happening DOES NOT end up with the error dump form and request to send it to A net. Usually game just closes and nothing happens.
I’ve noticed that this error appears usually when I get teleported from Ise of the mists (the pvp lobby) to pvp map or the other way around – usually when im loading the area and certain (cannot say which skill, which class) performs specified skill – this is common when people wait that minute before game starts, they pop up some skills. Same is at lobby, people run, casting some skills – or not even skills. It appears like it can be also an animation of the character model – a part of the body that is shown (visible) causes this error while character is forced to perform certain move.
I don’t know what and when, but it started to happen since HOT patch.

Can you finally fix this issue? I have sent tons of reports. Each time my character gets teleported to new map or someone executes certain skill during the fight in pvp map, my client crashes.

Yes. It is. The only way to achieve something is to get decent people and do the games together with full 5/5 team. Basically the more in your party you get, the ones that you know, the better for you.
I’ve learned my lesson after x number of games played as solo, where 90% were lose games.
System feels more fair.
If thats the experience for the majority. I have to congratulate ANET for their work.
This season is a pure bullkitten. Nothing more.
I never had continuous lose games more than few in row in previous two seasons.
With this season I’ve reached more than 10 lose strikes.
It is true that only two builds seems to be left for a little enjoyable gameplay (builds that not require HoT) while on the whole rest people are forced to play condi builds.
As I am not in favour of playing condi builds, will be impossible to play solo arenas without frustration and hate towards everything and everyone.
It often ends up that I am blocked and reported tons of times and well, I can’t help it.
I will give a feedback later on, from games played in 5s team of my kind.

1. Guards should have more HP and stronger HP recovery skills, so that they can resist easily while being attacked by 1-2 enemy players.
- Guards should also prioritize doorbreakers and then archers, instead of being easily taunted by players.
2. Archers should have a skill fact to cause the Guard’s recovery to be weakened or stopped. In this way, you will need these Archers, if you want to break Guards.
- Archers should also deal decent damage to Guards, but much less damage to gates.
These are my thoughts on the NPCs.
Haven’t played against good enemies, to see what could be improved at that point.

Hey all. Im new to the game. I bought it when it was first released and never got to into it.
I come from world of warcraft and though i do still pplay, im looking for an mmo that has more balanced pvp. I know that it can never be 100% perfect, but im looking for a game that doesnt render my favorite class (profession) useless for months on end. ..RIP windwalker monk..
So anyway as i was saying i have a couple of questions:
Is pvp in this game balanced?
For those WoW players, what profession would you say feels similar to WW monks aesthetically?
How is the grind to level AND to get gear thats good for pvp?
And last question, is there anything that WoWs pvp system has that you wish GW2 used and why?

Heart of Thorns is an expansion, but not as we think, because it will be purchased with gems. This will make it available for all players and reset the game economy at the same time.

As for the profession duplicates, that’s because I had to weaken that scoring because the profession dailies were stressing the system and causing bad matches when it came to MMR and party size.
Limit dailies to unranked and practice mode only? – a kind of solution.
This guy seems to complain about the Sigil of Air and Sigil of Fire damage.
I have a few questions and I hope to get proper answers:
1. How do you check if you are facing a team or not? I join only unranked arena.
Press B, then right click on each. And then you can see 3 options:
Invite player to your party
Join player’s party
Nothing about party
First means that it is a solo queue. Second is that player is in a party and then by checking the rest of the enemy team you can see how many more are in party and then detect how big is that party. Third option means that it is a full premade.
This kind of detecting works fine only, if you are queuing solo.
If you find 3 ppl with option to join their party, it means its a 3man team (3+1+1). If you find there are 4 people, then it can be 4man team or two times 2man (4+1 or 2+2+1). If you detect only 2 people like that, then it is 2+1+1+1.

Recently I have been playing around with necro, which I haven’t played that much before, and I noticed that with a power build Lich form auto attack does about 5-6,000 damage from long range that can be traited to pierce. If you time your transformation right you can take out the whole enemy team in a large team fight.
True, but it is not that easy.
Usually you are the first to be targeted, right after turning into Lich Form or even before.
Experienced players will never stand still and take all the damage on their back – they will dodge, cc you, do anything that reflects projectiles or use environment composition (walls, stairs, etc) to hide.
Deathshroud is no slouch either – with a short cd fear and auto attack doing 2-5,000 ranged damage. If you aren’t getting focused it also seems to last for ages.
Yes, it is nice, if you manage to stay out of focus. Have to mention that you need to fill up the Life Force pool to turn into Death Shroud. It is not always easy, because you need to get into fight to fill it up and while doing, it’s hard to be not targeted.
Has it always been like that? When I last played necro (about 18 months ago) deathshroud seemed to be consumed really quickly and I don’t recall Lich doing that much damage.
Necromancers were improved once in past. Now it seems more balanced, but all the newbies will complain that it is too powerful – because they don’t know that most of the damage can be avoided and that such a power necromancer is very “sensitive”.

if anything, people like yourself without recent ranked arena games have absolutely no right to make ridiculous balance changes requests.
the game is balanced around 5 vs 5 conquest mode ranked arena, not hotjoin, not unranked arena.

Complete newbie to ranked arena is writing about how the game should be balanced, ha ha ha.
I think one of the main issues is if you do not play this game it is almost impossible to understand anything – Class mechanics
MOBA/FPS games do not have that problem IMO
And I think this is in fact the problem: there is just too much happening all the time. Even though the game are in fact quite fast paced (you can see the two poor hosts – who do a great job – are still struggling to keep up because the game is so fast).
But because it never changes pace it actually seems “boring” and “repetitive” for an external viewer who cannot appreciate all the different nuances and intricacies in each fight.In music, you put a drop for your audience to rest, before going full on again to generate some excitement for the next bit coming. GW2 is always “fast paced, full on” and thus fails to generate this excitement.
Compare it to eSport games like DOTA or SC2. These games have “building” phases, where you collect, gather, etc. Generally the pacing is more obvious (regroup/rebuild/attack).
There is very intense combat for a few seconds where the pacing accelerate and spectators are on the edge of their seats.
People feel they’ve watched a defining moment in a game.
Then it drops/slows down again, and get people can get all hyped up for the next phase of the game.Now, it’s not a criticism of the game as such, as I understand MMORPG and current mechanics make it more difficult to pace a fight.
One of the mechanics that perhaps goes in this direction of “pacing” is the Lords in foefire, where a decisive, higher stake fight can happen there.
The other mechanics (orb, trebuchet, miniboss) are a lot less defining than this.Well, any thoughts perhaps?

Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG that will attract only people, who are into RPG.
For the rest this game will appear as too complex.
I just had an idea to bring some unique titles into sPvP and awarding people that during a season have won 100+ games without losing a single one.
Do you think winning 100 times without losing a single ranked arena match is being a Godlike?
Now I’m not saying that this should be high on the list of things to fix, but still.. Seriously, I have a stack of these lvl up tomes with no intention to make another alt or farm BL keys for the next month like a braindead. So, whenever I get one of these tomes it just feels like a nerf to the amount of gold I can get through PvP. And there’s not a single reward track without them! Can we please get just pure gold (with only stuff that are sellable) reward track? That would be awesome, thanks.

The point is good.
Even in PvE you need certain level to get access to some game areas.
I would say, rank 10 is not that high and will let people get to know at least basics before entering ranked mode.

This is kind of a re-post because it’s happening more.
Anyone else notice more de-syncs where you can’t stomp someone?
It’s happened now to me like 5-6 times in the last… maybe week?
Prior to that it had only happened to me 2-3 times in history.
I don’t fully understand the term “de-sync”, but yesterday we have played few games and our enemy was like immortal. Whenever one of us tried to stomp, character was just standing still and you had to spam the F key to have it done but usually, they were up before you stomped on them. I have blamed my people that they didn’t stomp but they were, just the client doesn’t react as it should. And I am not telling about situations that your stomp has been disturbed by enemy player.

Yesterday I did one ranked arena on my necromancer.
I landed into match with 3 thieves on my side and 3 or 4 engineers on their side.
Could you check if everything was correct?
I did solo queue.
Even doing all the best as I always do, my team lost the game.
Having 3 thieves in a pre-made with great cooperation of each other could be handled and maybe we could win, but completely random people – not acceptable.
If more games like that (with 3 thieves on one side) will happen, then there is no point of doing these ranked arena solo.
Also having 3 or 4 (can’t remember) enemies with class advantage is another dead point in the solo queue.

The leaderboard shows the last character played, not the one that is used for the majority of the points. We could possibly add profession, I’ll suggest it to the team.

I am requesting a sub-section or sub-forum of PvP forum dedicated to players interested in e-sport.
Reasons:
- To coordinate recruitment for professional teams
- To spread information about tournaments
- To make life easier for people that are looking for similar oriented players
and many more that I do not know yet.
Let’s say I would like to recruit some people to my team.
If I do it on forum “Looking for..” my post will get lost before anyone will notice it.
PvP oriented people are browsing mostly this PvP section and it could be way easier if we had another place, dedicated just for that.
Same as with tournaments, the information about it is getting covered by tons of complains regarding class imbalance or any other.
Any of you have me as a toxic one on your list?

- Players that harass, makes fun of and insults other players because they apparently come from PvE/they don’t play well enough/don’t follow their orders.
- Players who just insult and blame their teamates after/during a lost game. Very common on sore loser who think they were awesome but their teamates failed.

I think that you are wasting someone’s time, if you are entering ranked grounds without knowledge of maps, builds, classes and strategies.
I am not surprised that people insult you.
Some people doesn’t have a whole day to sit in front of PC and farm ranks.
For these each match is precious, as is their time.
The way I currently rate mobility is this:
1. Thief: Extreme mobility in combat and outside
2. Elementalist: Ride the Lightning, FGS, Lightning Flash, On demand Swiftness from Air attunement. It’s more a ‘burst mobility’, but very effective for the conquest game type.
3. Warrior: Sword leap/GS, Swiftness or 25% movement speed very easy to get
4. Engineer: Extremely easy access to perma swiftness, and now can move at full swiftness speed in combat with slick shoes stunbreak.
5. Mesmer: Entirely dependent on Portal usage, otherwise quite slow. Blink and Phase retreat give decent vertical mobility. Sometimes sacrifices rune slots for Travelers.
6. Ranger: Sword Leap and Greatsword 3, but no vertical mobility or easy access to swiftness outside of combat.
7. Necromancer: Decent Swiftness with Spectral Walk, and decent vertical/kiting with Wurm, but this uses up its utility slots (it invests a lot).
8. Guardian: Overall just really slow, a couple of ports and Swiftness on Staff, but not that great.There are a couple of things that stand out to me as weird with this. First of all, why are Warriors so fast? Warrior is a tanky, heavy armor class with a huge on-node presence. Sure, it seems more ‘athletic’ than Guardian, but its also a heavy armor wearer. Elementalist is also very fast considering how tanky of a presence it is on node, and being a caster, but its a bit more understandable than warrior.
One of the main things I don’t get is why Engineers are obviously more mobile than Rangers. Simply by taking 1 minor trait they get access to 100% swiftness uptime in and out of combat, which is absolutely huge, especially in the conquest game type. Warrior is also somewhat similar by taking Warrior’s Sprint (Minor trait for 25% speed with melee weapons). And it can get long duration Swiftness with Signet elite whenever it wants.
Ranger is probably one of the least represented classes right now in high level tournament play, I personally don’t really care about this, but I feel like Ranger would be helped by raising it’s ‘baseline mobility’, essentially giving it easier access to 25% or 33% movement speed.
One of the reasons I feel especially strongly about Ranger mobility is that it’s one of the only classes that doesn’t have ports or vertical movement, so it should have ground speed mobility to make up for this.
Here’s my suggestions:
1. Make the minor trait “Tail Wind” from the Skirmishing trait line usable outside of combat with the 9 second ICD. This would = about an 18% average movement speed without investing into boon duration. It seems reasonable for a minor trait.
2. Make “Martial Mastery” give 25% movement speed when wielding a Sword or Greatsword. Similar to Warrior’s Sprint, this trait is very rarely taken, and I feel like adding this movement speed would make it worthy of being a Master trait.
3. Lower the cooldown on Warhorn #5 to 25 seconds, also lower the Fury it gives slightly, but maintain the Swiftness so that it becomes about as usual as Warrior Warhorn Swiftness.
I realize that there are a lot of people who don’t like Rangers and think its cheap or skillless or whatever, but I don’t consider these changes an overly strong buff. It just makes Ranger more able to compete with the mobility seen in the current meta. I also don’t want to get into a balance discussion about Rapid Fire or whatever. Until Ranger is being seen a lot in high tier pvp, we can safely assume its not utterly broken or terrorizing everyone.
Just learn to play.
Ranger has mobility, maybe one of the highest in this game.
I would firstly make sure that:
- I know my character well and how my build works
- I know weak points of my build/class and how to avoid it’s exposure
- I know how to play on each map (hideouts, shortcuts, ground composition, etc.)
- I know the best use of my character for each map

I have tested several times.
While in queue for ranked arena match, solo, after clicking Leave Queue button, the timer disappears, ok, but queue still pops up when the team is assembled, even after switching character and leaving pvp lobby. It’s f* annoying, FIX THAT.
I have been in LA, when the Match Ready and map select appeared.
Not if you look at the “Points per Win”. Which is really the “toughness of the win”.
You don’t know who do you face in match and what’s their rating.
The only thing you can do is to grind that ladder.

Should solo players only face solo players? Should teams of 5 only face teams of 5?
That would make matchmaking take a lot more time than it does now.
And what would you do with a team of 4 players? They need a 5th.
A team of 3 could use two solo players, or a team of 2.
My dear, this is a structured PvP challenge.
In my opinion it is a place for dedicated to PvP players.
Your point of view is a little bit broken and fits more to PvE world than PvP.
If you know your skill and you understand that arena games are based on cooperation of 5 people, then you would already know that mixing 3+2 or 3+1+1 is not going to work, unless you are lucky.
The real challenge is when you get only solo players that have zero cooperation and are really relaying on each other and playing against another singles or organized parties of 5 vs another parties of 5. Two different pools of players that should stay in their range and not face anything that is not equal.
I rather have the dueling feature, where you can just right click a person and offer a duel anywhere.
This game is designed for team cooperation. We don’t need people crying on forums, that in duel of two different classes, one is stronger than another.
You all in this thread have came from another mmo, where all is about gear farming and proving that one class is overpowered in comparison to another.
Just play the game and stop crying.

Sad truth is that in most of cases even, if you gonna play superb it will not help cause these people that are currently queuing for case of reward tracks and the final reward, are below the worse imagination.
Well, congratulations to anet. They wanted data to analyze. Now they have trash data, that doesn’t really present the real PvP challenge.
I get sick of half teams doing ranked arenas just for reward tracks and other profits, but not to compete at all.
same here: 3/3 games i had premades vs me tonight… so basically unless u have a team u should not go ranked at all… end of story
Unless we will make small change, keeping all soloers in one pool, where they will meet only soloers and another pool just for 5/5 premades – excluding the half-made parties from ranked roaster. In this way pros will always meet teams and there will be equal chance for every1 at the solo games, as no duo, trio or quad teams on one side will appear.

If you want to queue with your friends in ranked you should have to wait for another premade no more solo vs premade
