once they drop cast time for ranger pets so they actually assist in our kills, our class is going to run the show.
not sure where to put this, but i think the spvp section would be best. i think that anet needs to bring in a “duel” option. where two people can request / accept / deny a 1v1 duel with a fellow player. this would be awesome. or maybe incorporate an area where this is possible if you don’t want everyone running around fighting. something like a “duel zone” perhaps.
I know this is probably up here already, but it needs immediate attention. these “obstructed” messages that occur when the target is directly in front of my face are really annoying. the dmg reduction means we need all the hits we can get. i find this obstructed msg actually happens most with the #5 skill.
well you have to admit this “glitch fix” hurt pvpers more than it did pve’rs. the shortbow machine gun was THE BEST build for pvp rangers. we basically got shot in the leg and then were forced to fight a kittening bear. these days rangers that do well in spvp are the cream of the crop. i have stuck it out on my ranger and i have made a nice pvp build that i enjoy and i get mad kills with. this nerf will make all rangers stronger, as long as you stick with it.
the power ratio for backstab / steal (when much is active) is way off. anet needs to fix this, and soon.
heartseeker is not the problem. its backstab and steal (when mug is active). these two skills have their power ratios WAY off. anet needs to fix that. and also stealth is still broken. even after a person is out of stealth theres still a nice little lag where you still can’t see the player. it should be: stealth over > visible instantly. those are the only problems with thief/stealth.
well according to the peter guy that spoke about the issue with this “shortbow glitch”, he says that other ranger skills will likely get buffed to promote the use of non spamming builds………like the thief…..wait a second
so the possibility exists i guess for us to have the same effect as other defensive skills. but it seems that we need to drop 30 trait points in a useless trait line or some other ridiculous requirement to get them. other classes just have to tap a button and they get the same defensive power…….not really fair IMO

hey all,
just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on ranger survivability all around. All other classes seem to have a pretty reliable “panic button” which results in them taking no dmg at all and/or being invulnerable, or just being amazing defense/control when being focused by one or more enemies.
my opinion of strong panic buttons for particular classes:
thief = warrior steal skill (thieves literally look for warriors to steal from for this skill)// stealth…so much stealth
mesmer = moa // stealth
warrior = endure pain // shield stance
engineer = elixers // tool kit shield
necro = lich form // armor
guardian = no explanation needed
ele = mist form // many more I’m sure (i don’t play ele)
ranger = “protect me” // [[dead pet in 1 second]]……
The ranger’s “oh kitten” button doesn’t seem that useful to me at all compared to these other skills. I personally feel that the ranger got short changed in this department and it really hurts our ability to take a beating by more than one person. I suppose protect me is our best option, but i don’t even think it’s worth a spot on your bar to kill your pet (which have VERY low survivability as it is) and probably still take half of the combo anyways.

What they need to do (my opinion) is give the shortbow a little extra dmg for starters, and also they need to change the flight pattern of 3, 4, and 5. those skills are almost impossible to hit anyone more then 400 units away. number two needs a major redo as well. that skill is so useless anywhere past melee range. whoopie 2 seconds of poison. the only way that is useful is if you can time poison right when anyone uses their heal. thats very tough to do. just my thoughts.
happened to me like 5 times today. thankfully not all in a row but it is happening none the less.
thieves will be balanced for sure. they can’t let this kitten keep up for much longer. i mean if two of these thieves are training you with their heartseeker spam or backstab or whatever they spam, then you have absolutely no chance. situations like this need to be eliminated from the game. there is still alot of balancing to be done.
i love how this peter guy says it was a debugging issue. stop kittening lying. just next time do us all a favor and just tell us outright when your taking a kitten all over our class
Anet would have already fixed this issue if they were going to. Put your ranger on hold for a long time. I heard mesmers are fun……
the pets are decent, but the ranger weapons are kittening kitten now. all were kitten before except for the SB. now all of them are. don’t even say that there are other good builds for ranger. THERE AREN’T → any kitteny build you have made is outdone by another class now (especially greatsword). SB was the heart and soul of rangers; our saving grace. good thing i have been playing with other classes…….this is horsekitten
SB was the only viable build in high lvl pvp……….sure GS and that are fun for pubstomping. but in real tourneys this “glitch fix” really REALLY hurts my game. using a greatsword you might as well roll a war. a sword, well same deal. at least wars have higher armor and WAY more dmg. rangers were a very weak class as it was before this. Everyone is losing it because this just is a nail in the coffin; burying the ranger class
sorry to burst everyones bubble but i feel stronglyt that anet won’t change a thing.
not to mention that warrior bullets don’t tell you that the view is obstructed when CLEARLY ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A HIT. Fix ranger anet……please
ever since the beta, rangers have been getting worse. this pretty much sums up this last “glitch”.
Maybe it was just a typo though. Maybe they meant to say " ranger shortbow is now on par with all its other weapons. we kittened all over it."
this is absolutely ridiculous. rangers are kittened as it is……… an entire day of thousands of people pointing out this issue and there has been nothing done / said except one guy saying " orly? maybe ill look at it". A 0.04 second adjustment should NOT be noticable AT ALL. even less so when SB users activate quickness. get it together and either remove this adjustment, or make the PROPER 0.04 second fix, OR fix the typo on the patch notes to “ranger shortbow was the only good weapon, now it isn’t”.

SB ranger was by far the best build available for rangers. whether crit or condi it was still the best choice. now it is equally as bad as everything else we have available to us. so my answer to you is that it doesn’t matter what build you run anymore, rangers have just been dealt a massive blow to their repertoire.
wulfsbayne, you need to realize that anet was only supposed to make a 0.04 second animation tweak. that is not a nerf if done properly. no one is supposed to be able to notice 0.04 seconds. but everyone including myself sees it very clearly, and its even worse with quickness up. this WAS NOT supposed to be a nerf. this was a giant mistake that dealt a massive blow to a rangers already limited competitive builds. Anet needs to either fix this immediately or call it what it was. a kittening nerf
This “glitch fix” is rediculous. All the other builds for ranger were terrible. now the shortbow is equally as terrible. anet neets to seriously get on this……i know some peter dude said he was looking into this but i mean come on……this wasn’t supposed to be a NERF it was supposed to be a 0.04 second animation adjustment……..now when i auto attack i can notice the difference (yes, without QZ) and with QZ, oh god, the horror. there goes the best ranger build that was available hands down. this was by far my favorite class too…….
The nerf is noticable no matter what your build is…….less hits on your shortbow, period. i can actually notice it without QZ on, and it is absolutely horrifying to see when i pop QZ now. this “glitch fix” needs to be addressed. either that or anet needs to admit that it was a nerf to begin with
