bring back gvg please. that was the best format hands down
earlier in a match i was 1v1 ing someone and for some reason every time i hit f2 for my pet to use his skill (in this case wolf fear), he would just sit there…….not atking, not doing to skill not doing a kittening thing. that is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be looked at over ANY other ranger short comings. in this fight i must have hit f2 5 – 7 times and nothing happened. i still somehow managed to win the fight because i literally had to swap pets just so i would have a pet that would atk. but pet AI is terrible.

all i do is pug, and it is starting to become quite frustrating. going into paids with pugs against people who play together daily is a disadvantage already. i would like to find a team, but most solid players are already on one or are about to give up like i am.

i really feel like the thief is fine as it is, just PLEASE FIX STEALTH!!!! when you get hit by a high crit dmg skill you want to be able to react to it, but when someone that is still invisible after being revealed for whatever reason (attack or w/e), then they should seriously POP into visibility. if stealth is dealt with i will have no problems with leaving thiefs as is
i think the ice trap would see alot more use if it did any damage at all. but that fact that it does no dmg, and freezing doesnt tick any damage either is a real turn off for most people. i rock spike trap and flame trap. i use stunbreaker for my other utility most of the time but ill sometimes swap in my poison trap as well.
these videos are actually very painful to watch. these issues need to be addressed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. this collection of “bugs” (if you can call them that) leads to a significant decrease in overall ranger population and play, because frankly its a bit pathetic having a pet that doesnt listen when you hit f2 and cant atk anyone, as well as a bow that shoots no arrows……….this is messed up :S
i didnt count the spirit blind because it is absolutely terrible. a spirit is not a skill in my honest opinion. but i would still like to see a useful source of blind that alot of other classes enjoy using defensively, and since rangers have very little defensive skills that dont require a full commitment ie. traits to 30 or something stupid for that GIANT cooldown of dmg immunity, and protect me = dead pet so yeah i would be pushing for “sand trap” harder than a hammer, but a hammer would still be cool to have as a ranger
hey all,
dont you guys feel that rangers should be able to use hammers? i mean they could in Gw1, and i really think that this weapon fits into the ranger repertoire nicely. perhaps….
also, since rangers have absolutey NO source of blind (other than pets, which is trash), what a bout a blind trap?
something like 4 or 5 pulses of blinding and a bit of dmg per pulse. standard trap that would increase our survivability to somedegree and help with team fights quite a bit as well.

The “only” way you’ll get me to half health is spec for the Rangers 6 second immunity.

my ranger IGN = Apophiis . fight me any time you want, if im not busy
use axe + mace // mace shield. and get good with it. you will never lose to a 100b warrior 1v1 and you will have way more control and just as much damage ( yes, axe 1 + frenzy is BIG dmg) your equivalent to 100b is bulls (frenzy WHEN THEY ARE KDd) then axe auto attack , then when they get up you hit mace 5 (another KD) and axe auto atk ftw. if that doesnt kill you swap to mace shield and stunlock them for a while untill they die. its the most fun ive had on my warrior. GS 100derp gets old fast.

i dont know what everyone is talking about. i never lose to warriors of any spec as a ranger. especially rifle warriors. i can’t understand how any ranger would lose to a warrior in a 1v1

this is VERY annoying. and it happens all the time. especially when i go to interupt something with concussion shot and im literally 2 ft away and then it misses (not due to blind or block) and there goes one of the only interupts rangers has on its full cooldown. also the pathetic snare 4 skill seems to have this problem as well.
fury feels so useless to me though. power ranger builds are terrible at best. its all about the conditions imo. they do bucket loads more dmg than any power ranger post sb/qz destruction patch. but to answer your question as everyone above has said, it is possible to maintain fury for a very long duration. but i feel it is much less dangerous for a ranger to have perma fury than say a thief or warrior, or ANY OTHER power build on ANY OTHER CLASS.
we are already at a huge disadvantage against thieves because of their shortbow ricochet and DANCING DAGGER. if you cant manage to avoid one or both of these skills while your pet is close to you, you will eat a kittenload of dmg and the thief is just hitting one button………
that being said i dont usually have problems with thieves 1v1 simply because i put traps on the ground and stand in them, and try to send my pet to attack and move away from me as fast as i can. these conditions alone causes 95% of thieves to abandon their backstab and reset, the other 5% eat the full trap dmg and i usually kill them faster than they can even hide in shadows. if they do abandon that first spike attempt i just put more traps down and interupt their combos / stealth with my pets and/or bow and stack lots of conditions. usually when they are revealed they are already downed.
wow. another reason to hate the kitten out of the thief class
thief shortbow takes a nice dump on our shortbow. why ? ricochet. if you are near your pet your going to get hit twice fora crit of around 1000-1600 each hit. and cluster bomb HURTS.
dont be expecting too much guys. i feel that there will be alot of people let down. personally i wouldnt give a kitten if they left rangers as is as long as the thief overall dmg gets nerfed
i actually tried rolling a thief yesterday and used it for an hour or so. what a joke. rangers; and every other class for that matter have it way harder then thieves do. i dont care how squishy something is, there is no reason anything should be able to pop out that much dmg in such a short period of time. and the thief shortbow is actually better then the rangers as well, it hits so much harder, and hits multiple targets. not to mention the fact that the shortbow is our BEST weapon!!!!What a silly insult generalizing the majority of Rangers to be ‘really bad’. For all you know they could be putting out the utmost devotion to win any battles, even against a thief, timing their skills to be used at the critical moment. With a thief, you can just spam its skills blindfolded and still win.
The effort used between a thief and ranger just to win is clearly noticeable. Fact is, thiefs have it easy and ranger’s don’t.
the main issue is the meta. you run 2-3-4 bunkers (at least 2) with a thief and mesmer (because thief is broken right now and mesmer is the best all round class) sometimes you run double thief.
double thief and 3 bunkers on the khylo is an instant win. all you need to do is put your two worst ppl on thief and they still get kills because its the easiest class in the game. and yes i have rolled thief and tried it for a while. its too easy.
so what happens is their team will never die because of the huge bunker presence, meaning you wont be able to neutralize before a thief comes back with their broken mobility and pops your health bar like it was a joke. because it is.

yeah honestly dancing dagger is a joke. the power ratios for the thief class are way off. thieves can spam this in a group, destroy anybody that is near an ally, for example a ranger and his pet are done for. -> necro with a flesh golem is pretty screwed too. this needs to be looked at by anet. hopefully mid november patch will be decreasing thief overall DPS like they should be, with some more survivability. screen attached.
took 11k in 5 hits. absolutely ridiculous. if you dont have any blocks or endurance to dodge you are kittening screwed

sorry but taking a 6k hit from a sigil or rune (or both) is ridiculous. this issue does need to be addressed. lol and the person defending this amount of dmg is the thief who must see big numbers i suppose. wow. you have got to be kidding me. any hit over 5k shouldnt even be in the game in my opinion. not to mention a RUNE OR SIGIL. those procs can be a game changer and definitely have an impact on any 1v1 when they proc. i have fallen victim to the air strike on back stab hit, (or CnD, who the kitten knows, thieves are invisible for that whole part of their combo) and it is pretty op in comparison to some other sigils, the dmg ratio does need to be looked at. prince is right.

no, that is not right at all. when you hit anything (stealth or not) your adren empties.
if your adren stays at the level it was, then you missed your target.
i love how thief arrows hit the target even if hes jumping/kiting. but ranger arrows are the easiest thing in the world to dodge. hell, you can dodge arrows without even moving with all these obstructed messages that interfere with ranger play. :/

backstab has the least cooldown of any skill i know in the game with the largest single dmg output ability at the same time.

put a cool down on it and/or make it deal less dmg
and also stealth is not fine. there is an extra second of “fake stealth” where the characters body doesn’t appear even though they are out of stealth. this needs to be addressed. once stealth ends the characters body should pop out like it does from the stealth person’s perspective.

mesmers are the strongest all round class in the game. this should not happen to you.
this is really a bad buzz for rangers. whats anets reasoning behind this? thief arrows do like 1300 critical dmg on me too, i would love to be able to strafe these. not to mention the fact that their arrows bounce targets
thealth is the biggest problem. when the stealth “ends” the targets body is still invisible and this is a huge problem. especially when your target is a thief or mesmer……
im sure anet will still get an earfull about this. the signet had nothing to do with the ridiculous amount of dmg you are taking, it was backstab + traits. backstab needs to have a cost as large as its dmg. and / or have a much larger cooldown. perhaps even a reduction in backstab dmg overall would work. also the mug trait is huge dmg too. then to top that off the stealth bug (which pisses me off more then anything about thieves) where they are “revealed” yet there is no visible sign of anything for a couple seconds. that needs to be fixed more in my opinion
you guys should see if there are conditions on you that are slowing you down. the skill is affected the same as all movement skills are. i dont seem to be finding this skill much of an issue. to be honest there are far more important things for anet to look at before this
i think they need to incorperate good old GvG. slay the guild lord for the win. its the best form of pvp in my opinion. i would play that all day
i personally feel that alot of people have alts as warriors, and main something else because wars are pretty simple in terms of just going and beating people up and its a nice change of pace from other classes. i main a ranger and enjoy my warrior once in a while.

in spvp pets actually get me to take alot more damage than normal people would in certain situations….
RICOCHET skills really hurt me because of my pet! For example crippling dagger from a thief will bounce on me and my pet each twice doubling the dmg that we should take, and doubling the crippling stacks. i have actually tested this with a friend with full crit spec, and it kittening hurts ALOT.
also, the engineer blinding / confusion skill ricochets as well dobling the confusion stacks and blindness durations, not to mention the dmg.
(these are just a couple examples of skills that pets cause rangers unfair amounts of dmg).
In my personal opinion anet should make it so the bounce off of a pet cannot go back to the pets owner if it had already hit them. i would say just make pets invulnerable to these effects but that wouldn’t be fair either. i think they should really consider doing something about this, because some skills really destroy rangers if the pet is anywhere near his master, and the enemy knows about this “exploit”.

ummmmm anet, you guys forgot a class in your pvp updates. im pretty sure there are 8 professions in this game.

wilderness survival trait line. go onto wiki and check it out. i run it on my ranger. it saves my life
it appears that this bug list is pointless. anet has yet to give us any sort of fix/ skill change / alteration ever since the destruction of the shortbow with QZ. which is actually BUGGED because of anet mucking around with things that weren’t in need of a fix. you guys can save yourselves some time and not even bother putting up your bugs/glitches in here, no one is looking.

these “nerfs” to the thief didnt really do anything. the overall dmg in your combo is still the same.

shortbow / axe+warhorn → trap condi build. very, very good build i recommend it
i personally feel that the responsiveness of these skills is way out of whack. im in an spvp match and i hit f2 hoping my pet will do something for me (in this case, it was fear). no such luck. i hit it again to remind my pet what i want him to do. oh? still no fear. finally on the third try i got him to do it, but by that time the main reason i wanted to fear was gone.
Anet needs to make these skills INSTANT. i realize that there is cast times to take into account but i want these skills to be activated when i push f2 (making the cast time begin like a normal skill would, only it comes from my pet). no sooner, no later, and i certainly don’t want to have to hit the f2 skill 3 or 4 times just to finally get the pet to do the skill. this is very noticeable when i’m on the move and i want my pet to stop and do something, but it keeps cancelling itself out to catch up to me. i literally have to stop and sit there and slowly use the skill. the skills are still useable, but some tweaks on this would make pets that much more reliable in my opinion.
how in the hell is backstab a high risk skill? its free, and your kittening invisible? what a stupid post.
