Sooooo whirlwind attack, hundred blades, hammer shock, staggering blow, fear me, etc are not AOE because…?
Basically what it means is, you and I are in hills, for example. We can talk away without hearing the cries of agony from ppl being hit by the “kindle” at bay and vice versa. In other words, you have to be within a radius to hear someone talk. It’s used in other games which is a great feature because I want to rely orders to my squad not have the whole map hear me.
Ok so let’s drop the word “zerg” from this vocabulary and insert “kindle” or “intrigue” (there’s a clue here as to what I am referring to. It’s an obscure use of the word but appropriate). I think “kindle” would be a better word but whatever. Once you figure it out, we can vote on it. For those of you that need to, use google, I guess. Just remember the use and content ie: I was rolled by a kindle from FA today.
Y’all have fun with the “word of the day”.
Siege: a military blockade of a city or fortified place to compel it to surrender
Not exactly what happens in game. The sixty man zerg comes, drops four or five catapults and smacks away for all of two minutes. All this while the other guy is sleeping. A siege can last from a few weeks to, the longest in history was Ishiyama Honganji, twenty-one years. So why do ours end so quickly? There are things in real life that can’t be duplicated in a game. Fair enough. We can, however, duplicate some of the aspects of the siege.
One that comes to mind, that would probably be easy to implement, are supplies. No, not the ones we carry but the Doylaks. Why should a trebuchet or catapult have an endless supply of rocks to chuck around? The attacker should have to plan and implement the logistics of a siege. Supplies run on predetermined routes already, how hard would it be to add two more routes that would drop supplies off at the sentries where the attackers can retrieve them and resupply siege engines?
This, in tangent with reduced damage output, should allow for the “weaker” server to mount a counter attack and at the same time make people think out a plan to take a keep/tower/garrison. Not just zerg your way across a map.
I’m confused. I’m still fairly new to the game. I have just past the three month mark. Almost seven hundred hours logged in. So, is there some kind of stat bonus for getting threads locked? Just curious.
IBTL
P.S. I wish ppl would post score prior to the kitten wars. I like to have a coffee, do a crossword, read the score. And why kitten? What did they ever do?
Thx aaron, I was wondering how another thief was out stealthing me and this is going to be great for my recon missions. Much appreciated.
As for the rest of you, holy kitten!! (Did I use that correctly?) All this coming from ppl with skills such as confusion, blink, portal, out of control ballerina twirl, wall of reflection, etc etc etc. Oh yea, and one of the first ones involved in the game, chose your profession.
Maybe, just maybe, Anet should rework all the skills to be used with foam bats or an “ooops, my bad” combo skill finisher that will resurrect your target. Of course, if this really annoys you, why not play a thief.
FA and DB are afraid of Maguuma. That’s why they like to double team. Whenever I see us getting pressured by FA, there’s good old DB lapdog going after us as well. No night presence plus double teaming makes this a skewed fight.
Well, people prey on the weak.
Maybe ppl are afraid of 1v1 Maguuma and instead resort to 2v1.
I know it feels like double teaming, but we are not believe me. before the matchup almost all the major guilds had a meeting on who is doing what in which bl. And MAG bl is one of the places where we are at too. We were actually fighting DB the entire time and DB was the ones that took the keeps we held in mag, not mag themselves. So I can assure u that we are not double teaming.
Ok maybe it’s DB trying to compensate for something cause from what I see, DB queue’s Mag BL while their own BL isn’t controlled and they time their attack to coincide with FA.
Ummmm, I stepped away for about an hour now and when I left, DB BL was all blue. That said, I recall Mag ppl coming at us, DB, from the south while we were attack FA’s western side of the map, Friday night. You may want to talk with your own ppl before throwing accusations out there. I could also quote what was said earlier when a DB commander asked Mag about double teaming FA but I’m sure you read that.
Or should have.
Seriously?
OK, fyi, every mmo has a thief/assassin/ninja class. Why? ‘Cuz they’re just too cool!! Who DOESN’T want to come out of the shadows and strike fear into their target?
And it seems to be working.
As intended.
To OP: wahahahahaha while you were no doubt twirling like an out of control ballerina, trying desperately to hit the thief, he no doubt used Shadow Step, Shadow Return, Shadow Refuge, switch to bow, Infiltrator’s Arrow. Bye bye ballerina.
As for the thief being op: really? I run around with 15kish hp, which is tankish for a thief. This said, I avoid “the zerrrrrrrg” because let’s face it, I don’t last long in there. My role, no, the role of a good thief is to catch the people running supplies to make siege weapons, report intel on in coming and the movements of the enemy, deny supplies to enemy strongholds, ninja supplies to sieged points, etc, etc, etc. Getting the picture?
I usually run with another thief who stays ranged. We zap the two/three man supply runners, take out the yaks, turn supply camps and sometimes go deep into enemy territory to split up their forces and generally cause chaos. Ten people chasing me is ten less sieging against my tower/keep/garrison. Understanding now what it is to play a thief?
