I play a shortbow ranger most of the time so The Dreamer would be my first choice, but look at it. It looks like a throw-away-concept from a “My little pony”-episode.
Nevertheless i appreciate the sense of humor of the devs.
Hi
I was considering to put this in the WvW-subforum, but after all it is a general suggestion.
So … Thieves … generally i have no problem to fight them neither on ranger nor on engineer. The problem is: when they are low on hp and realize they can not win, they just use stealth to run away.
The reward for every victorious fight is the final kill for the better player. Thieves are the big exception, because even if they can’t win, they always can escape.
I see three solutions to solve this problem.
1) completely disable stealth when healthpoints are under 50/25/10(?)%
2) increase the cd time of ALL stealth skills, so a thief has to use them wisely, not just spam every few seconds, or …
3) give other classes some kind of reveal-spell like "reveals all hidden enemies for 6 sec/ range 600/ cd 1 min)
A few days ago i was semi afk’ing in front of a tower surrounded by the Veterans. Every 1 min i looked on the screen to check if something happens.
After a while a warrior ran by, observed me and with my inner eye i could see the cloud above his head: “hmm, is he afk? Should i try to kill him?”. One minute later he decided to attack me. I made a roll, used Entangle and 10 sec later he was dead.
I continued afk’ing but that guy came back, made a party invitation and whispered me:
“Don’t kitten run kitten into the guards kittenkittenkittenkittenkittenkitten noob” ;-)

Lol, no.
The Legendaries are supposed to be just skins. By adding ridiculous bonuses, you make them into the #1 choice in weaponry, because they will always be better than anything else you could get.
And that’s not what a Legendary was supposed to be.
Yes, of course it would be the #1 choice, but keep in mind that:
1) They are extremely hard to get
2) They are rare
3) A player has to spend lots of time/money/patience to craft them
My point is, that all that time/money/patience should be rewarded with something more than JUST-ANOTHER-SKIN.
Some humble PvE bonus is a fair compensation for everybody who crafted a legendary.
Hi
I have already 30-40% of the materials for a legendary weapon but absolutely no incentive to make one.
I play with two chars – Ranger and Engineer. Legendary bows and pistols look absolutely horrible, the stats are standard, so why should i want to craft one? Why should anyone?
My idea is to add some special PvE bonuses to legendary weapons, like +50%/100%(?) Karma, +50% magic find, +50% gold from mobs, etc.
Just some additional bonuses, that do NOT influence PvP or WvW but give us a reason to craft those ugly legendary junk ;-)
Just an idea.
Thanks for bringing some light into this, everyone.
For me the /bow, /salute, /laugh emotes are the only form of communication i need to show respect/contempt to other players, but i guess it’s pretty much individual.

He could probably see your account or character name in the invitation if he was far enough away from you that “blahblah Invader/Defender” didn’t show up instead (or if you were on different maps at that point).
I know for certain that character names will show up in the invitation if either of you had switched maps.
I see, so long story short: this wasn’t any secret official feature, just a bug abuse?
Appologies in advance if i’m asking about something obvious, but this happened to me for the first time.
I play on Blacktide. Today i was pvp’ing some warrior from Whiteside Ridge in front of his homebase. After he died i got a party invitation from “Whiteside Ridge Invader”. After i ignored it for some minutes he whispered me and started talking some nonsense.
How was this possible?

You see melodyca, basic rule of physics applies here: Your actions will cause proportional reaction.
That’s not an excuse for rude behavior imho.
You see, i’m one of these guys who used to enter arenas for duels, because for me personally 1vs1 is the only real challenge in pvp.
I also have been interrupted by players who joined later and didn’t read the chat or just ignored me, but this is not a reason to behave like an – put your favourite word in here.
On the other hand – just what melodyca said: i saw too many players who just seem to enjoy being offensive without ANY good reason.
Thats the main reason why i stopped playing sPvP and began to look for kicks in WvW. At least people from other worlds can’t talk to you, which is a blessing.

Don’t blame the dueling ppl, when they have no space to test builds and stuff.
I think the key word here was RUDE.
I made this observation also.
In PvE most people are friendly, kind and helpful. Once you switch to sPvP suddenly everybody forgets good manners and starts to act like an kitten. During Matches in the best case noone says a word, but when someone opens his mouth it’s something rude and insulting.
I’m just rank 9, so my pvp experience is limited, but i only ONCE met a guy who said GG at the end of a fight
Hi all
First of all: I don’t want to make another balance-thread, just share a few of my impressions after one month of intensive pvp as a ranger.
Here a few numbers from my 1vs1 fights, including both – arena fights and random WvW encounters.
I win 9 of 10 pvps with guardians
I win 7-8 of 10 pvps with warriors
I win 6-7 of 10 pvps with engineers
I win 5 of 10 pvps with other rangers
I win 1 of 10 pvps with mesmers
I didn’t mention elementalists and necromancers because i didn’t had enough opportunities so far to fight with these classes 1vs1.
I didn’t mention thieves because most of them just run away in stealth when they are low on hp, re-try to kill me, run away, re-try, run away etc. So even if i’m obviously better (which of course isn’t always the case) i don’t get the kill.
I don’t think that i am a very good player and i still have a long way to go, but i don’t completely suck as well xD.
Let’s say i’m just average. But that being said, look again at the numbers above.
It looks like a solid fact to me:
- An average Ranger can kill without any problems almost every guardian and most warriors, but it’s a great challenge to kill a mesmer. (By the way – One mesmer can relatively easily kill two Rangers, can one Ranger kill two mesmers?)
- Maybe it’s a question of bad luck, but it seems to me, mesmers and thieves dominate the arenas. Everytime i entered an 1/16 arena for a 1vs1 the player turned out to be a mesmer or thief. I really hoped for a chance to fight with a Necromancer, Ele or Engineer. No go. Everywhere only Mesmers and Thives.
Finally – I really, really, really miss a 1vs1 arena in the game. With the option to choose which class we want fight with.
Greetings.
