This is a really bad idea, from a balance standpoint. Make one class HARD counter another class’s core mechanic?
This specialization is the very thing Anet wants to avoid. And as a Ranger, I would HATE this to be implemented because everyone would look at me and expect me to be a thief counter, when I can be carrying other (also very useful elites) like Vines and Rez Spirit.
Aww somone doesn’t want their thief to be killed =\ and thief needs a hard counter from at least 1 class…they burst down all classes like they nothing, and not every ranger will be running that elite, and the elite only works with thiefs it gives no benefit when attacking necros,eles,guardians, warriors, or engineers….its not going to ruin the game if 1 class can beat a class that beats all other classes.
Okay so you’re complaining that your pet is weak because you don’t put any points into the trait for making him last longer/hit harder….?
And expecting your pet to dodge Aoe attacks is unrealistic,theres a “return to me” button there for a reason

Also putting more points into BM doesn’t allow it to last longer…just hit harder
Ranger are underpowered in various aspects of the game. But they are, to me, still incredibly fun to play. And that’s what the game boils down to, I think. Sure yea, Warriors do a ton of damage. But they’re just so boring! I’ll take my ranger over my warrior any day.
Don’t let the negativity on this sub-forum discourage you from trying out a ranger. Try it out! There are certainly many aspects of rangers that are bugged, broken, not working, etc…But it hasn’t dampened my love for my ranger at all.
Only the die hard fans of the ranger will stick with theirs, i for 1 will stick with mine but if people aren’t in love with the ranger from the get go they will not enjoy this class coming into it….

Everyone jumping on here and trying to defend saying there’s nothing wrong with ranger really haven’t been playing their class right…I have put in over 856 hours into my ranger, I have acquired The Lover for my ranger(going for legendary), i have completed the map on my ranger, I bum rushed lvl 80 in the first week on my ranger, and i havent played another class since release….this class is broken, stop trying to defend it. I can’t run to a warrior or anything class after putting so much time and effort into this legendary so i’m stuck suffering through playing on the ranger…but for people who haven’t put time in on it, just reroll another character its no point, they dont listen to their community at all.
He’s probably sleeping, or he’s drafting a reply for tomorrow. This is a ticking time bomb and he has a lot of unhappy customers in more then just the ranger forum so any reply is going to have to be well thought out and delicate.

You’ve now put the nail in the coffin and ruined a perfectly good game by refusing to listen to the players. Real players, the ones who play the game honestly and don’t glitch or use some insane OP tactic to win…Yeah those, did you forget they are there? Or is it just a tad easier to pretend that they aren’t completely suffering from the changes that have been made. You call a visual glitch a fix and instead it’s a flat out nerf…You promise fixes, but that isn’t delivered. You say it’s coming next balancing patch and this is what you give us? Fixes and buffs to pretty bland talents and skills to start with? Not even starting to mention what happened to mesmers and engineers? Wtf is wrong with you?
I heard today that TWO people control the balancing of all the classes in the game? Please tell me this isn’t true. However if that is true…then it’s a 50/50 shot on who people get to blame for this continued fiasco dragging out.
You have forced the people who play those classes on a daily basis to re-roll their current classes entirely, buffed other classes ridiculously so and ignored the classes that have real issues repeatedly. You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is not what you said it would be like when you made this game and now you’ve turned it into EVERY SINGLE MMO OUT THERE TO DATE! Identical, nothings different. It’s just slightly prettier graphics with shiny new mechanics covering up the fact that behind closed doors the same nonsense that makes people quit games is now happening here too.
The public has given feedback, hell they’ve begged for this to change and stop turning into a cesspool of things the players don’t want to see occur but it’s happening anyway…Nerf nerf nerf without ever actually seeming to give a kitten about anything the players beg for to be fixed or needs to be fixed by those who play this game correctly. I said this last time but since that was deleted. I may as well say it again. You are punishing the legitimate players and driving them away.
Thieves have been buffed to hell and back to the point where all you see in wvwvw now is thieves. Then…you buff them again. There isn’t balance in this game anymore…it’s a couple OP classes butchering the rest of us who are trying to cling to our other professions in the vain hope you won’t just toss us the scraps of your personal favorites professions. Again, It’s favoritism. Pure and simple…I am sure you’re going to delete this post of mine just like you deleted the last one I wrote that was negative in nature. Cowards. You do this to us and expect people to stay and just take the subtle backhanded slaps you’ve been handing the players and their classes since the game went live? Keeping quiet and polite about it? No wonder so many people are quitting this game entirely and giving up. They’re pissed off. They’re going back to Warcraft! You’re not giving us any hope to remain and more then likely even more are going to say they’ve had enough and leave as well. People are tired of this treatment so early in a game’s release and they have a right to be. You’ve done nothing but neglect the classes that need it or nerf them to the point of stupidity rather then fixing the actual issues they seem to have.
I’ve read the forums today. People are sick and disgusted with this blatant disregard of themselves and the classes they love. Can you really blame them?
As it stands, GW2 is a farce of a game that’s wasting people’s time and money with very little incentive to remain when there is a huge bulk of players being given the run around. Good Job guys. Great job accomplishing such an achievement of a game only to ruin it three months later through blindly pushing forward with fixes that are nothing more then a band-aid over a bullet wound.
I retired my almost fully exotic geared ranger weeks ago because I knew then that this would happen. I am glad I did, least I was able to fully level a necromancer and nearly a elementalist to replace that character I spent over 600 hours on. 600 hours of my time wasted because you can’t manage to deliver on even the most basic of concerns. Thanks, we really appreciate it.
I want them to look at all of them also im just pushing for SB because it was one of the first nerfs that didn’t even make sense and SB is one of the most used weapons by rangers. They won’t fix any of the weapons over night but this they should because it would’t need to be tested or anything because they already know its fine.
by saying fixed i’m just wanting them to return it to its original speed. I know they did it on purpose, I know they had the chance to change it a while back. I think after what they did tonight we at least deserve it. They are expecting it to just blow over and it won’t if we keep bringing it back up and keep calling for it to be reverted back. They shouldn’t come in and nerf one of the best weapons for ranger for no good reason, but they did and its up to the community to keep telling them that it was a bad idea on their part. Maybe it will get fixed maybe it won’t, but we can keep trying.

It’s not a bug, so it wasn’t reverted.
I wasn’t calling it a bug if you read my first post you can see that i clearly know it isnt. I was saying if they can fix traps just like that then why cant they fix something as simple as this, overnight.
We need to talk this up, it at least one of the fix that they can do here and now and not make us wait. They fixed the traps that they had bugged within a hour of them being bugged. This should be easy enough for them.
Apparently Anet does not know how to nerf any other class besides thief. QQ and they will cater.
Rofl Ranger has been nerfed since end of beta#3 and this is the first time we were actually going to get buffed and did you see what they did to us? Made us freaking kings of the ocean….we will see you in the water!
i believe this is a issue that can be fixed here and now and no time will be wasted. I wish Anet would comment on this topic and explain why this easy fix cant be fixed right now
Right now I am having to spam 1 over and over to have it to stay on target…it will stop firing altogether at times and i have to spam 1 especially when i pop Quickening Zephyr
And how are we not suppose to spam 1 when all the other skills are on their overly long recharges?
Push for the shortbow returning to its normal fire rate….it was nerfed because of an animation issue not because it was overpowered or anything….please push for this to get fixed now…it wont take any time at all and doesnt need to be tested. Nerfing a skill because of an animation issue is sorry excuse….change the animation not the skill so please return it back now to its original speed. Again it wont take any time at all.

These were no major changes whatsoever….how can you get on here Jon and tell us you had to manage your time when warriors and engis got huge updates? How do you call changing wording on our skills to the correct wording and buffing the harpoon gun a significant change? How do you call giving spirits that get 3 hit a 50% chance to give their buffs and still have a 10 second cool down on how often those buffs are applied a significant change? How do you call making the LB for a Warrior stronger then the LB for a Ranger a significant change? You bugged out the traps on our first “big update”….shows how much focus you put into the ranger. Lastly please don’t waste 4 bullets to tell us 4 different skills are now able to use finisher combos that’s really only 1 bullet worthy put into 4…what happened to the 16 bullets that were suppose to be shown?
Constructive?….are you kidding me? you get on and tell us to be constructive with our thoughts? Wasn’t that what we all were doing when they first told us of a update coming? Wasn’t that the reason for the update in the first place? Because we all got on and gave our “constructive” thoughts on the ranger…and they completely ignored us…not one highly talked about change was made to the ranger and you tell us now to get constructive again? It pointless my good sir.
I am going for The Dreamer and The Lover is already bound to my character now i must suffer through playing with a broken profession =\ i wish i had a warrior to run to. Thank you anet for ruining the one profession i was going for Legendary on.
