You don’t need a programed donation system.
When i’m going to upgrade something i write into the map-channel, that i’m collecting for an upgrade and minutes later the letters with a few coins arrive…
Sometimes i have to write more than once and have to motivate people to give money, but usually it’s no big matter.

Seen this a few times on SBI.
If you could pay gold to order upgrades bit by bit, what would happen if your server loses the tower/ keep before all the money is there for the upgrade?

I already stated in my original post that the money from the account is not lost when the building is taken. It will be available next time you take that tower/keep/camp. Also this donation system is per each building, it’s not a global pool.

So you’re doing it the manual way. There’s no such thing on our server and our guild is kinda` frustrated for investing 20g each day. One day we haven’t invested one copper and most of the keeps and towers were not upgraded in our homeland.

So if you’re doing it this way, wouldn’t an automatic system work better?

This system will also make the player feel like he’s contributing to the server when he donates 1 silver. It’s pretty much in line with low level players repairing a gate with supplies, manning an arrow cart, scouting. It makes everyone feel good about themselves contributing to the welfare of the server.

The fact that only one person has to contribute the entire amount of currency to start a building upgrade causes the following problems:
- Usually there are only a couple of people that invest in these upgrades and they started to get tired of being the only ones that do this and it’s not easy to farm for gold.
- The other people on the server get used to having the upgrades and they just wait for others to start the upgrades.
- Sometimes the commanders start the first upgrades because they usually are in the field killing invaders and farming gold/karma with the rest of the zerg.

What I’m suggesting to be done is having some sort of donation system to the building upgrades. Each camp/tower/keep will have an account and everyone can donate any amount of currency to it. When you start an upgrade it will first get the currency from the account and then from your pockets.

This way anyone can contribute with 1 silver and when 10 people donate, at least we can start the reinforced walls without someone having to spend the entire 10 silver.

When these buildings are captured, the account currency will not be lost and will be available when you retake the building. This way people don’t invest 1gold in a keep and then loose all the money when the keep was taken before the money got spent.

Do you think this system will encourage people to upgrade more knowing that you don’t have to spend 1.5 gold for that waypoint, but you can contribute with 5 silver?

I saw this bug for at least 2 weeks. I was hoping the last build to fix it.

NPCs are very weak

I believe NPCs are very weak and one max geared player is enough to take a camp (without the invincible buff), while 20 players can take a fully upgraded keep in 15 minutes (night capping). Each day our guild is putting aprox 20g in upgrading the keeps during the day, while by night, when no one is around 4 parties take the whole map, because the NPCs are worthless.

I don’t think we should penalize people that play during the night and just attack empty keeps, but at least they should be required to have a more complex strategy than bashing their heads and rams on the doors and one-shoting the supervisor NPC.

A solution for this could be to make the camp supervisor a champion in order to require 5 players to take it. Also make the tower supervisor a legendary NPC and make the keep supervisor be assisted by 5 champions.

On top of that the outmanned buff should be applied to NPCs too and should be based on the percentage that your are out numbered, not a 33% all the time buff, example: start with 10%, then 20%, then all the way to 100% more or less. The outmanned buff should give a % to all the basic stats, not just MF, karma and xp boost.

These small changes would only make taking the objectives a little stronger so more cooperation is needed, because you have to fight stronger NPCs. And a proper outmanned buff would make the NPCs even stronger so you won’t just rofl stomp the entire map with 20 players and a couple of flaming rams.

Do you think the NPC are strong enough and do you think the outmanned buff should just be a cosmetic buff like it is now?

Mesmer portals are game breaking in WvWvW

As long as the game only renders a fixed amount of players on screen and then gradually increases it, you can’t have skills that teleport lots of players. I see only 2 options: Fix the culling bug or fix the mesmer teleport skill.

Yesterday I was defending godsword from the cliffs with siege weapons and could see the enemies bunch up behind a building and then a mesmer teleport all of them on the stairs next. You could easily see that people never reacted to the mass of people coming from them because the game doesn’t render the enemies fast enough, so they just dropped like flies.

Anyway, it’s pathetic we still have this discussion. If any arena dev/support would play wvw this problem wouldn’t even exist.
