Awesome information. It illustrates the big problems with WvW currently very well.
When the new matchups are announced, look at the graphs. You will easily be able to tell who will win every single match based on the gaps in participation.
Doesn’t matter what anyone does in WvW or what strategy they use, the server with the least gaps in coverage will win every time.
Also:
Hopefully it will also help some people decide to leave some of those higher population worlds for one of the worlds with smaller (or no) queues, which would reduce the queue pressure on the overloaded world and help provide more manpower for the smaller world.
Hopefully you understand that this is never going to happen in a million years and have a plan B to resolve these issues. People would rather queue than play and lose and nobody is going to give up their slot on a stacked server for the chance to get steamrolled by it.
Welp, I’ve been sure it’ll be fixed in the next update for quite some time.
I’d be nice if it actually was.

For PvE I use power, yeah. PvE mobs are easy enough to avoid so hitting them for high fast critical damage is less important than it is in PvP. I can’t say I’ve spent very long using air skills though, but I’m sure there are precision builds that could be very effective in PvE.
The biggest reason I don’t use air in PvE is because with a staff, the air auto attack is really unpredictable and will tend to bounce to random mobs when you don’t want it to.
Unfortunately warrior is kinda the same story with a rifle – pretty one dimensional.
I play an elementalist myself, level 80, and as long as you learn how to survive it’s pretty effective.
Take the following strategy as an ele with a staff vs a melee enemy:
Lava font at the feet of your enemy to draw aggro, placed such that they run through it as they run towards you. Flame burst as they approach and when they’re almost at your feet, lava font and arcane blast. This will give you 3 stacks of might from the self combo and critical damage to the mob. Then hit burning retreat and flame burst again if it’s off cool down.
Time that right and you’ve got a recipe for killing any early-mid game melee mob without getting hit. Add in a bit of dodging, arcane shield and some well spent trait points and you’ll be able to floor any soloable mob in the game as well as any other class.
What put you off the elementalist? If you’re looking for more survivability in PvE, ranger is pretty good because it’s so difficult to finish them because of their pet skills and they can take more punishment due to being medium armour. You could also choose to go all out and play a rifle warrior.
I would warn against picking the “easiest” class, because you could get to level 50 and have anet nerf something and suddenly you’ve got to start over. Try to play a class because you like the way it’s meant to be played despite any balance problems, not because of them, and you’ll be happier in the long run.

At least we now know why humans are killing all those centaurs.
Mmmmm. Delicious buttery centaurs.
For WvW, I’d say a fire works well since AoE damage and suppression is important – probably more important than single target damage since you rarely go up 1v1. You can use arcane skills to improve your crit rate and get the best of both worlds.
You could always spec into both air and fire lines pretty easily. It’d give you increased crit chance for your fire aoe spells along the way!
They’re fine, at 80 I can take on 3 level 80+ Orr mobs at once and survive. Make sure your traits make sense for the attunements you favour and I’ve found that arcane skills are very good at giving you the edge.
Are you traited for earth and water for your toughness route? Earth seems very good for big mobs like veterans, especially if they are melee only you can kite, cripple, bleed and kite all day and take zero damage. Less effective on groups of weaker mobs though, but that’s your trade off.
I’ve sold 1.5 gold’s worth of stuff, the pickup tab is blank but the “things i’ve sold” tab says they all sold.
Hope these trades get resolved correctly, going to steer clear of the trading post entirely for now.
