I’d like it if this became a comprehensive guide. I’ll edit the main post as I get more concrete details. There’s tons of crap in this event and I don’t wanna edit after every little thing comes in. Once something is clearly laid out and tested I’ll add it.
It’s messy as it is with lots of supposition and missing facts.
After reading the forum a little I realize now a few things:
1. You may be able to turn into other things in the cauldron above the mystic forge.
2. There are two mini dungeon events out there that I have not experienced.
3. There are super difficult Mystic Forge recipes that can be made. (Why is everything related to the Mystic Forge terrible. I never wanna tough that thing…)
I bought one of the temporary staffs that cost 6s or 150 candy corn. That was pretty fun running around with. It has a little lantern hanging from the end of it. No stats, but for my own amusement, it was worth it. It’s called The Crossing.
Yea that’s the one. Are those the only three Halloween weapons or are there more that can be crafted?
Some people posted links but there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete out there.
Ewwww…nevermind then. If it’s THAT crazy I’ll pass. I’m happy with my Necro back book. It goes with my character really well.
Sort of make sense though. The best ones I’ve seen is the Skeleton.
Cone Attack
Daze
Knockback
I’m not gonna cry about the candy corn thing, I can get more, I probably grinded for an hour or 2 with friends, I can do it again some other day if I want to try to go for the mini pet or something.
I would like that Staff though….
Anyone know the Forge Recipes for the mini and the Staff?
So this is what I’ve got so far after messing around with the event:
October 22nd Version:
1. Main Quest: Find 6 ghosts around the world, get their diary pages to unlock a unique back item. I’m assuming this leads into other quests later in the event.
Locations:
1. Right next to the quest giver (she herself is in LA square next to the lion statue)
2. In the sewers through a hole in a grate underwater, swim straight down
3. In the LA harbor underwater. Southwest of the words “Sanctum Harbor”. She’s inside a stone building with the ceiling missing
4. Provern Shore in Gendarran Fields. At the end of the mini dungeon. Champion spider guarding the last room. Ghost is hidden in a corner. DON’T warp back after getting the chest in there also.
5. In the middle of the brambles of Darkroot Cut in Kessex Hills
6. In the graveyard of Shaemore Village, right outside of Divinity’s reach. Inside one of the mortuarys
(The order is all wrong with 4-6, but it doesn’t matter what order you get them in)
2. Find Haunted Doors in Kryta (Gendarran Fields/Kessex Hills): They release goody bags which give you mainly candy corn. Though they can also give you rare dyes and Halloween food items. The doors also spawn unique Halloween monsters which you gain an achievement for killing lots of them. (also note that you can loot other people’s goody bags which means this event is good to do as a group to get lots of candy corn fast) (Also can anyone confirm if they spawn anywhere else?)
3. Halloween Dynamic Event in LA: Something about filling a spectral meter, no idea how this works
4. Candy Corn: You get an achievement for eating lots of them. You can buy crappy temporary items for 150 of them. (which can also be purchased for silver) You can give 10 of them to kids for a “personalized goody bag” though they don’t seem better than the ones you get out of haunted doors.
5. Vendors: Sell temp vanity items, recipes for Halloween food, recipes for Halloween costume potions.
6. Jumping puzzle: In the center of LA there is a jumping puzzle that leads you up to the top of the Mystic Forge. If you get up there and jump in the green goo you are turned into a skeleton, a very good costume for getting king of the costume brawl
7. Costume Brawl: Seems to be here to stay and is technically not part of the Halloween event.
8. Carving Pumpkins: Carve a bunch of them to get a title and a few achievements. They are located all over the place.
9. Black Lion Store: Halloween vanity items in the store and supposedly lion chests have new items too.
I have two questions
1. What’s the deal with the Dynamic Event in LA?
2. What is candy corn used for? You can get it so many different ways, it’s used to power the spectral scanning device and to buy crappy items. (I’m a bit pissy at this point cuz I grinded 150 of them, then spent them not knowing that the item you get is temporary and also buyable with normal money. :(

Well there’s a quest that’s like “enter the mad world” I’m assuming its there.
Bless you sweet AnthonyOrdon, Bless you!
I’d appreciate a red post to make me feel better…
I liked the book so much that I transmuted it with my back piece not thinking that the event quest may upgrade it and erase the new back stats I gave it. I wouldn’t mind if back items weren’t so rare in the game, if I lose it the best I can replace it with is the guild back…and I like the stats on the personal story back better.
Will the event upgrade the book or give a new item?
(worse case scenario I screwed something up in the quest)
Yea but I don’t care about PvP, I just want to get 100%, you can keep your OP Thieves.
There are no hearts outside of the normal maps, check them again, you may be missing 100% on one of them.
2-300? kitten I’ve seen bots before but never more than 20 or 30!
Just had a thought, what if when entering WvW you could flag yourself for exploration when entering.
You would be invisible to anyone not also flagged for exploration and everyone not flagged would be invisible to you. (so no cheating) This way you could get the lay of the land in WvW in peace and finish the 1 player activity of exploration.
Lets say you wouldn’t get WvW benefits while in exploration mode either and the only events you could complete would be the neutral mobs ones.
I think it would be a great idea.

Of course I pick this week to start exploring WvW with you RED kittenS owning every map!
Actually, CD (blue) owns like half of WvW when I left this morning. O_o
Yea it’s pretty amorphous, I was able to sneak in a second borderland map while ET was doing pretty well. I picked a good time too since IoJ quickly took everything back. Still can’t touch eternal battlegrounds though with that sea of red.
Hmmm I’ve got them all with no problem. Have you been to the heart of the mists?
I’m getting a….stay tuned…vibe from all these red posts.

Argh why aren’t my image tags working!? Oh well…
Last year around this time I was playing Cataclysm which had this guy:
It’s a tough act to follow but I’m excited to see what GW2 can do. I’m hoping Grenth shows up in some way, I think he’s the coolest thing since cool.

Sometimes just the spawn rate is ridiculous. I had just finished grinding a few dynamic events in Cursed Shore when I ended up in Bloodtide Coast to try to fill out my daily enemy variety. I was swimming around in the water all kitteny as I destroyed everything when I got to an underwater event where I had to destroy generators. I started to do so when suddenly I realized that there were like…7 inquest mobs around me. I was able to kill a bunch but even more appeared around them…and I died which was quite embarrassing for me having just retaken the portal entrance to Arah…
Woah older crowd in here. 28. I really enjoy the pacing of completing each area to 100%. Though I just entered the WvW phase of world completion and I dunno…hmmm…
You’re like those people who don’t like fast travel in Elder Scrolls games. You’d rather spend that 20 minutes every time to cross the serene, beautiful landscape…however some of us have things to do! Dragons to fight, loot to get, ya know.
Hey that photoshop is really good!
When I think about it I don’t even know why I play my Necro so much knowing that someday…SOMEDAY he will be a much better beast than he is now. The minions will like attack stuff, you’ll have more control/maintenance ability with them. It will be awesome.
I believe the special Warhorn makes them do the Gungham dance.
I like Undead because damage is better than duration, the final piece of Affliction is useless, and with the trait that turns toughness into power now ALSO turns toughness into condition damage. You’re getting double benefit for high toughness.
The Death Nova is the only time it made any sense to me…and it still sucks.
Thank you for the in depth response. I like the whole “turns into scythe” thing that the staff does though. I remember being unimpressed on the auto-attack though…
I feel like in dungeons or such if I run in with the axe and use my 3, it makes all the enemies just turn and go “who the crap just did that!? GET HIM!” And it doesn’t help that my Flesh Golem usually picks those times to relax and text his g/f or something…
Have you tried being nicer to them? Perhaps not exploding them in combat and eating them for health?
So I’m running as a minion master. My main weapon is a Scepter/Dagger, which I generally like.
My off weapon is Axe/Warhorn, which is good for AOE damage and a speed boost to get around.
However now that I’m level 80, the Axe is starting to grate on me and I’m considering switching both out for a Staff. I used to use a staff at the beginning a lot and the marks were decent though I felt forced to stand in one place in order to use my hands to place mark after mark on the enemy.
What do people think Staff or Axe?
I support this…I also support the Flesh Golem not running so far when he charges. I want him going for power not distance. You lose DPS as he walks his dumb kitten back to the fight and there’s a chance he pulls aggro. SLOW DOWN MAN!
Minions are kitten. Yes Minions are kitten…censoring…wtf…
Seriously though, this is the biggest complaint about the game for me right now. Necromancers should get a medal for being so broken (in a bad way) right now as they lose tons of DPS and damage mitigation because their minions are too busy checking their Facebook.
Oh crap! Is it really not me! That makes me happy. I am must be a masochist as I actually finished a map completion with the game only letting me take actions every 3-5 seconds.
Well I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who thinks this. Their AI is crap, which means you lose a lot of DPS because minions are standing around picking their nose.
I love detonating a bone minion to find out he’s standing right next to me having never gone in to fight the enemies. I think he’s on to my strategy for him…
