Suggestion: Racial Skills

I think it would make the racial skills more viable for use, if each profession had a trait in their profession mechanic line that reduced the cd of racial skills by 20%. They could even a bonus effect based on profession ex. Guardian racials heal

I think I am one of the few people in the game who actually like my racial skills and they are something that I take into consideration when choosing a profession. Does revenant not have access to their racial skills?

Revenant - The better Mesmer?

The new boons and conditions will probably start out on the specializations and on base classes that absolutely make sense (ex time warp should absolutely gain slow); then slowly spread as they update old/base skills. Similar to how torment started out on necro/mesmer, then spread to other classes…

I love the idea of adding new weapons to each of the classes so I figured I would suggest one that incorporates a gw1 play style of the mesmer (necro’s could do it too) that centered around boosting your opponent at a cost to them. I also wanted to incoporate the old play style of damaging enemies by removing their boons.

1 Skill) Chain(3).
-Corrupt Boon-Damages and Applies random boon + condition to target
Possibilities:
Protection (3 seconds)+3 vulnerability (10 seconds)
Regeneration (3 seconds) + poison (5 seconds)
Fury (5 seconds) + Weakness (10 seconds)
Vigor(5 seconds) + Immobilize (2 seconds)
-Inspired Boon-Damages. Summons a clone for every 3 boons on the target. Cones use
-Shatter Boon- Damages. Damage is increased by 5% for each boon on the target. Remove on one random boon.

2 Skill) Reckless Haste (5 seconds)
Applies Swiftness (5 seconds) + Torment (7 seconds) to the target.

3 Skill) Calculated Risk (10 seconds)
Applies 2 stacks of might (4 seconds)+ 4 stacks of confusion (6 seconds)
OR
Applies 2 seconds of quickness + 5 stacks of confusion (5 seconds)

I felt like this item would bring out some of the old enchantment removal skills that I loved to bring along on gw1. It could be combined with null field or arcane thievery (a skill that is hard to justify bringing along currently) for a boon/condition build; or if the user wants to punish the target for using boons it can rapidly summon clones for shatters and deal increased damage for each boon.

I wanted this weapon to have the trade-off aspect that were associated with the original reckless haste and calculated risk. I like the idea of quickness + confusion because I know how much that has frustrated me when I use a quickness skill only to find out that I had confusion on me, but I don’t know if that would be TOO risky considering once you give them quickness there is nothing you can do to take it back as you can with might.

I chose the boon/condition combos and durations to try to make them even so it really came down to how the user spec’d to determine how they used the weapon. Yes I would think that someone who wanted to do a lot of flat damage would build into chaos or signet of midnight so that they keep boons on the target for the clone summoning and increased damage, or if someone wanted to lean towards conditions they would build into illusion/domination + signet of domination.

I want my scythe. I want it for my necro. I think it would be an awesome 2 handed weapon for the thief if tied into acrobatics. And if we need that elusive third soldier class, give them one. In GW1, the scythe (defining weapon of the dervish) mainly an aoe melee weapon and many of the professions (excluding the warrior) were defined by a weapon which kind of dictated their play style. So if the dervish were to make it into GW2 make them aoe based.

Having a soldier class that was highly mobile on the battle field dealing aoe damage would be different from the guardians who sit there tanking for days or defending an ally or a warrior that for the most part singles out a target and puts it down. maybe the profession mechanic is tied to stripping boons for effects on enemies or allies around them.
Maybe F1, strips swiftness or vigor, aoe knockdown
Maybe F2, strips regeneration or retaliation, aoe heals
Maybe F3, Strips might or fury, grants quickness to the derv
Maybe F4, Strips protection or aegis grants invulnerabilty to the derv

But in no way does this profession have to be solely defined by god worship. Spirit spammer rits were preserved in the mesmer. I’d like to see the dervish play style of stripping enchantments and aoe melee brought back.

The mesmer Mimic ability resembles shield stance, but I think a neater effect was if they actually added a highly reflective circle that actually resembled a mirror that the character is hiding behind. Maybe with a portal-esce back.

Turrets regenerate health and so do pets. But I would say it would be acceptable if you had to trait into having the blood fiend heal minions when it drains, and if it was at the grandmaster level maybe a aoe heal on death.
