I once was able to remain a snow leopard through all of Wayfarer Foothills … not sure if it was a bug or if I could replicate it
Every half hour or so in the Wayfarer’s Foothills is “The Frozen Maw” which is 6 or 7 events in a row that take about 5 minutes total to complete. LOTS of people do it so it goes really fast. It’s a level 9 – 11 event I think.
You have to gather momentos from fallen refugees around the area and bring them to the coordinator. If you don’t have momentos, they have nothing to say to you.
“Kill X Boss” would alienate players who haven’t reached a high enough level. Dailies are for players of every level, class and race and shouldn’t be difficult to complete. If they added an “Elite Daily” or something with x number of champions/dragons whatever, that would be pretty cool.
Well when the end of this month is up Lionguard Lyns is gonna be gone. Taking those 250 use Tools and Kits with her. Which means when she’s gone the only place to get 250 use Tools is the Laurel Vendor. Too bad Anet Didn’t add a 250 use Salvage kit. or did they?
EDIT: whoops it seems that the Sickel is only 125 the other two are 250. weird.
Well, logs and ores take 3 swings per node and plants only take 1. I think 125 sickles will last you longer than 250 picks
Don’t forget the 100% map completion, hundreds of skill points and million karma. You can’t just buy those.
Ah gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I too find it odd how dramatic the change in character speed is once combat is initiated. Quite annoying.
I’m all for this, but until then you can just think about it like role-play: it’s considered rude to keep your hat/helmet on while talking to others so you’re char is just being nice. ha
Playing as a thief has been exceptionally fun, especially underwater with spear 2 and 3. Evading, dodging and counter-attacks are great ways to improve use of skill in-game and I think we could use a lot more of these types of skills!
Even tougher ones with a shorter duration (like a 1-second block to counter-attack) would greatly increase the amount of skill used in combat. With other classes I really feel like I’m just button mashing but with thief (and ele has a great tactical feel) I feel like I actually need to use tactics.
In addition, I think the addition of more weapon skills to each weapon would be awesome. Keep the same number of slots for skills (5 on the left side) but let us choose which weapon skills to put there! It’s way too easy to get bored of a weapon because there’s no variety. GW1 had a TON of skills per weapon/skill and I don’t know why that was not taken into consideration in GW2 (I know it’s a new game… but more skills = more variety = more thoughtful builds = more fun!)
I’m happy with the healing/utility side of the skill bar; plenty of choices there. But on the weapon side, it’s not enough to have two weapon sets when each weapon only has 5 skills possible. I’d love some variety!
Thanks,
Wulf
Generally the players at the very bottom of the guild roster are the ones that have not been on in the longest time, right? Also, you can monitor their level (or crafting, achievement points etc) to see if it changes over time. I realize that would be hard to do with 500 members but it’s a step I guess.
also, whats up with there being no Toughness / Vitality / Healing power armor? Is it for fear of immortal guardians in pvp? lol
That would be super unbalanced. Think of how hard to kill you would be… as an 80 Guardian I have full Clerics (pow, tough, healing pow) and I’m pretty kitten hard to kill with my several regeneration abilities.
If you want toughness + vitality, get soldier’s armor/weps (pow, tough, vit) and dolyak runes (vit, tough). You will be the tank you’ve always wanted.
Also, Guardians are in the lowest tier of health pool (along with eles and thieves) so your vitality is not going to be stunning. If you really want to be a tank, be a warrior, they have ~8k more base health at level 80.
The only change I’d like to see to Transmutation Stones is a method for exchanging Basic Transmutation Stones for Fine Transmutation Stones… Requires lvl 80, exchange rate 20 Basic = 1 Fine?
That’s a great idea. Be able to exchange basic stones for fine stones!
So if you’re in trouble in combat you want to be able to just port away to safety? That removes all difficulty from the game… I agree that maybe they could modify it so that you don’t get stuck as “in combat” when you’ve finished off a mob 10 seconds prior. If you make it so that there’s no restriction, you’ll be in WvW killing someone and they’ll port away before you can finish them. Or you’ll be porting all over the place trying not to die. I think that would be weird and unbalanced.
Female Norn Bandanna hair clips super hard through any shield while it’s not in use (strapped to the back). I’m debating buying a makeover kit to redo my hair because of this
The Son of Svanir’s roadblocks in the Wayfarer Foothills need bigger hit radii. I find myself standing next to a roadblock swinging and doing AoE all over the place and there’s only one or two sweet spots where you can do damage. Seems my warrior shouldn’t be missing a giant log lol.
Anyone notice this too or agree? This happens with a lot of larger objects in the game.
Moar titles for existing acheivements no point in killing 5,000 baddies with a greatsword if you don’t get an awesome title like Greatsword Slayer or something. Or the “Overkill” one (300,000 damage ha) even something simple like “Master of Overkill” … the only one I have is from my GW1 account and I haven’t gotten any to switch around for fun. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone with a title I hadn’t seen already
Sorry, I have to bite the noob bullet.
What are DEs?
My point is that the Ranger class shouldn’t be dependent on a pet. If I want to play warrior, I’ll play warrior. I want a medium-armor bow master that goes pew-pew. I get everything I want in the Ranger, but the pet is just an added annoyance. It would be as simple as an option – toggle pet on/off.
Also, I don’t really care about how powerful my character is in the end compared to a warrior, I just want to be a ranger >_>
Hi everyone, just curious:
Are there any other rangers who wish they could toggle their pet on/off? Sometimes I just don’t want a pet derping around attracting mobs and bumbling around behind me. I love the ranger skills and weapons, and I really enjoy playing one, but my pet is driving me nuts. Sure, I can set him to “avoid combat” and “stow” him, but the instant I engage an enemy, he pops out and runs around aimlessly ready to get killed. And he doesn’t stay dead. He runs back to me with no health, like “hey, I’m invincible… you’ll never get rid of me..”
My main question is: Why am I forced to have a pet?
Sure, sometimes it’s nice to have someone tanking for me while I shoot from afar. But what if I’m trying to pull mobs and he accidentally draws aggro? Makes it hard to do anything solo.
What was great about GW1 Rangers was that we could choose to go it alone without a pet. Our pet didn’t have to be the defining feature of our class. Why was that changed? I want to be the pro with the bow, but I don’t need a pet to be one. Can’t I choose not to include a pet in my adventuring?
Implemented a smaller interface and the problem sort-of kind-of goes away. I do like the look of the smaller interface, however some of the text such as in the trading post is super blurry, probably just because of my resolution.
Thanks for the tips!

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone else has the same problem I’m having.
Often when auto-attack an enemy to death, I get stuck performing the auto-attack even if I’m not near an enemy. So I’ll be running around swinging my sword wildly or maintaining a sceptre-made arc of lightening across the battlefield because it got stuck on a mob. It happens after relogs, on all characters, but not all the time, probably every 5-10 kills.
It happens immediately after the mob’s death, and persists through looting, dodging, jumping, using other skills, etc. The only way to get it to stop is by attacking another mob.
Anyone else having this issue? I’ll try to post a pic later when I get home from work.

In terms of roleplay, I think Norn are better suited as Rangers than Sylvari.. Do plants really have the urge to hunt wild animals? It’s not like they need the meat xD
I have a Sylvari elementalist and I think the caster role suits that race very well.
Can someone tell me how to subscribe to this topic? When I click the subscribe button it just takes me to the bottom of the page.. I love this thread and I want to contribute but I’m at work so I have to wait til I get home..
Thanks for the suggestions guys. The sad part is, this is using a Vizio 32" Flatscreen I bought last summer. It doesn’t even recognize HDMI input -.- I’m currently playing GW2 with a VGA cable lol
Definitely going to try EnemyCrusher’s idea when I get home. Thanks again.

How do you mean? Like a list of waypoints on the side of the map screen? I think that would be pretty helpful.
I agree with the Elementalist lightning skill fix/change. The sound is grating.. Also, I frequently get stuck performing the animations of my auto-attack skills even when there’s no one around, which is especially annoying when using the lightning because I haven’t found a way to turn it off without attacking another mob.
When I’m perusing the forums, I find it odd that there is not some sort of date/time stamp on the post or near the title or thread name.
I think it would make the forums look and/or feel a little more organized and easy to browse.
Just a suggestion!

Thank for the reply, I didn’t even think about that. However, I’m stuck with Fullscreen 1024×728 because of my monitor (it’s weird and annoying) so that doesn’t help. When I change to a different resolution, it’s too zoomed-in (though the banner problem is resolved).
If it’s just me that’s affected then no worries I will just live with it until I get a new monitor. lol
This is a really cool idea. I think this would add yet another reward for playing that’s tangible and enjoyable.
I can’t seem to find a way to minimize/reduce in size the massive “Account Medals” banner on my character select screen. It covers half my character and I feel like it’s obnoxious, especially if you’re just starting out and it has nothing to show…
My suggestion is to either reduce and move this banner to the side so that it doesn’t cover my characters and/or make an option/button to hide it.
I attached a picture to show what I’m talking about, anyone else feel the same way I do?
Thanks!
