most players in games like these do not go anywhere near the fourms its a very small number
With the same logic, if people see others having the issue and posting about it, they won’t do it themselves, but maybe keep track of the thread and so on.
Without proper and independent statistics you CAN NOT tell how big a number of players have certain issues or not.
While I understand your concerns, just keep in mind you are a very small minority with such problems at best.
How do you know we are the minority ? Are there any official and independent(!) numbers that say what percentage of the player base has issues ?
Use your mouse to adjust camera angle? Lock the camera behind your character and hit the ‘rotate’ key bind?
Hmm either we have very different options configuration or you don’t understand the point.
The camera is STUCK.
STUCK = I CAN’T MOVE IT.
First I have to MOVE THE CHARACTER before being able to MOVE THE CAMERA.
Hope it’s clear now.
My only point in all of this is the complaining is not helping anybody.
And without complaining, how would ANet know there is a problem ?
return the game and stop complaining. Apparently only 1% of the population has this issues. kthxbai.
Did you ever try stand-up comedy ?
Manicpanda: If you feel like that, why not support my topic here with a bump ?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Official-Low-FPS-statement-still-missing/
If the camera is stuck pointing perpendicular to the direction my char is facing and the char itself being semi-transparent or outright invisible, yes.
Just one defender ? Disappointing. But whatever they lack in numbers they make up in lack of logic.
1, You are absolutely right about the connection error message. That is the definition of fail. Accusing my router instead of saying straight and clear it’s a connection problem on ANet’s side is pretty lame and does not have place in 2012.
2, the rest is something I do identify with to a certain degree
Now all we need is sit back and wait for the defense force to arrive. Flame shield up.
I believe I’m being constructive here.
I can see several dozen threads complaining about the same thing, some of them have hundreds of replies and tens of thousands views.
Seeing as no other issue with the game got this much player attention, I can only conclude it’s big enough to warrant a major announcement.
But by all means, let’s keep things the way they are, let’s see what would have been better in the end.
Our friends at ANet, don’t you think a word of reassurance, a word of compassion for our woes or simply just a few words that explain how you perceive the situation and what you’re doing about it would help relieve the tensions currently felt all over the Tech Support forum ?
That is seriously annoying. Please let us see the whole thread title, or put character limit on thread title creation.
Most of the time people put the punch line into thread title and then go on to discuss it in the body of the post, so missing it is a big deal.
You need to log out and log back in, then the links are displayed. Works every time. Annoying.
(I know this has been mentioned a lot, but I can’t help but re-iterate.)
To be forced to stick with the terrible camera while doing jumping puzzles – that’s beyond joke.
More often than not, the camera will simply get stuck and I can only guess which way I’m really facing. OK, my biggest Charr char will get semi-transparent, but that doesn’t help much when the camera keeps facing some random direction in which I’m not interested. I need to move the char before the camera gets free and that means I’m risking falling to my demise.
Also the camera smoothing – give us a switch for that please. I need precise movements and precise camera control.
I’m not a fan of jumping puzzles, but when I do have to do them, I’d rather have proper controls.
Templar is telling you not to talk about this openly people. ANet will axe it if it gets too popular and gives you a slight edge.

I did ask you not to be concerned about damage to my GPU. Do you usually repeatedly feel the need to argue other people’s decisions ? And you are telling me I behave like a kitten ? :-)
Yes, leave me at it, please, thanks, bye. Geez.

You must know best bro. ;-)
He’s not kidding. Overvolting your GPU does absolutely nothing for performance. Repeatedly saying you did the impossible doesn’t make it any more possible.
If you overvolted AND overclocked….possibly, or overclocked, and didn’t overvolt, possibly. Overvolting is just putting more juice through the GPU and generating more heat. It is simply not possible to get greater performance by overvolting alone.
When I switched my card from 0.987V to 1.000V, my GPU clock jumped from 850MHz to 892MHz. Now what matey ? Did I overclock it while overvolting it or what ? I did say in my first post “…thus increasing GPU clock”. Sorry, I can’t teach you to read.
Nice work but why so absurdly big pics ? :-)
Glad it works, happy downloading.
So this is happening when you click on a FRESHLY NEW DOWNLOADED Gw2.exe, right ?
Right-click the icon, find the “…\Gw2.exe” line and put -repair after it, so that it looks “…\Gw2.exe” -repair. Press Apply or OK.
THEN double-click the icon again.
But that only applies if you have a freshly donwloaded client, the Gw2.exe in question. In case it was corrupted somehow.
If I had this problem I would do this:
1, re-download the client
2, run with -repair option
3, if still no dice, re-download the whole thing

Caedmon:
As I said, I am not forcing anyone to copy what I did, so please don’t be concerned about the damage to my or anyone else’s GPU.
Frankly, don’t tell me what I did or didn’t see. Were you like looking from behind my back to say I’m making this up ?
If I tell you it happened, you may or may not believe me, that’s your choice based on your experiences, but it won’t change the fact this made a difference for me.
Does it seem illogical ? Probably.
Did it happen ? Absolutely and I don’t plan to keep convincing every kitten that comes around.

AVG has been a fail for quite some time now. That overbloated suite (8 processes now or something ?) didn’t detect several trojans running on my comp, it was quite happy to allow them to exist. I got rid of AVG 2 years ago, went with MSE and never looked back. So far, in those 2 years – 0 (zero) infections.
So to answer your question – no, I don’t have issues with AVG2013, but then again, I advise you to not have any as well. But then if you’re happy – good for you.

Namely, overvolting card, thus increasing GPU clock. I didn’t believe it, but it worked for me.
Yes, it turns up the heat. Yes, it may reduce the lifespan of your card. So if you want to call me a kitten for doing that, just stop right there. I am not forcing you to do anything. Go on with your life and pretend I didn’t say anything.
What I’m saying is, I turned up the voltage from 0.987V to 1.000V and alt-tabbed back into GW2, to my great surprise I watched the FPS rise from 30-40 to around 80. Mind you, that FPS didn’t last long, it dropped to around 50, but stayed at all times around 10-15 FPS higher than usual the whole gameplay of roughly 40 minutes, didn’t have time for more.
The usage of the card rose from the usual 20-30% to around 70-90%. GPU temperature rose by around 10-15 degrees.
I will try to fiddle with Inspector when I get back from work, so if I find a pattern, I will post back.
System: Windows 7 64-bit, 8GB RAM, Athlon X2 5200+, GTX560. Yes the proc is old and I thought that’s the cause of my lower-ish FPS, but hey, the card just showed me something different. To me, this example shows GW2’s engine is not taking full advantage of the card for some reason. All my performance and energy saving settings are set to high performance both on GPU and system.
Thanks to the guy in the other thread that posted this solution a few days ago!
It worked for me. I am not claiming it will work for you. Information is there, do with it as you please.
@Colonel:
100% a map is not mandatory, that’s right. I WANT TO DO IT.
Jumping Puzzles are not mandatory, but some of them I HAVE TO DO, because them being incomplete prevent me from stuff I WANT TO DO, in this case, 100% a map.
Saying I may as well skip on 100% a map just because 1 out of 10 vistas happens to be an elaborate fully fledged jumping puzzle, while the other 9 are a simple low-grade platformer is – ILLOGICAL. Forcing players to play Mario while I wanted to play GuildWars2 is not right in my book.
No apology incoming, Colonel.
100% map completion is not mandatory.
So you are asking for something you already have.
Dismissed as seriously lacking logic. Next!
Honestly, jumping puzzles are part of the game that annoys me greatly. If I wanted to play Mario, I’d have bought it. I’m pretty sure some other players feel like me.
So here’s the deal: that vista in Diessa Lowlands was preventing me from 100% the map. I was cursing the whole time while jumping over there.
SUGGESTION: Don’t put stuff that players need to 100% the map as part/reward of jumping puzzle.
I see, will keep changing text then, thanks.
Honestly, I said 2 things, then after a minute or two another short thanks, when I wanted to say thanks for rez another minute afterwards, my message got suppressed.
Why ? I mean 4 messages in a span of like 3-4 minutes is excessive ?
I called your bluff and all of a sudden you try to play the “Oh I said that to get the reaction from you which I knew you would give” card
Pssst, listen, I let you on a secret but don’t tell anyone: I really DID play that card!
And that’s it, I have no urge to continue arguing with an intellectual person like yourself.
I’m kind of curious why purchases in the BLTC don’t just delivered by mail directly to you? (Sorry, did I miss someone suggesting this?) If that happened, it would really eliminate the need for Trading Post NPCs.
That’s a very good suggestion!
If mail is such a promoted way of getting rewards and allows for sending items between players, why not expand on that idea ? Why not have access to TP anywhere “using mail” ? Everything from ordering through to delivery would be done via mail, just like some home delivery catalogue of sorts.Taking cues from other games, you could put say.. a 30 minute delay on delivery time for anything bought on the BLTC. Have a “cash out” button for your profits, so you can get your BLTC sales profits mailed directly to you even if you are out on the world (and even assign a 30 minute delay to this as well).
I really think it could be a great game improvement.
Head over to Suggestions sub-forum and post it there mate!
I main a necro in PvP i also have a Thief ,warrior ranger and a elementalist and play all of them in pvp. On my thief you cant CC or dodge me once i pop and keep popping HS you can only hope to get a lucky dodge right before i do , simple as that.
my warrior i leveled to lvl 3 and took it into pvp witouth any practise or knowledge about its skills and i ended up as top player in my first 3 matches
I think that most here that say L2P in reaction to ppl who complain about thiefs and HS or other faceroll classes like the warrior that they themselves main one of those classes.
Just saying…
Thanks for bringing in some sense into this astounding crapfest of a topic.
Another bad PvP player with another false accusations. You have no evidence that I switched to a Thief, so why do you say something so dumb which makes it so easy for me to intellectually humiliate you in front of all the readers?
Thief was my first profession and will always remain my main, in ever game I play I play the Thief/Rogue/Assassin first and the Black Magic profession second. That would be the Necromancer in Guild Wars 2.
I like these archetypes, I don’t care if they are OP or UP! My personal skill will compensate and make it work regardless of the profession’s power
Also, why are you not going that road? Shall I tell you? You are afraid to face the truth, or perhaps you already did. I guarantee you that atleast 50% of the people who whine about Heartseeker Thieves would get 2 shotted if they played a Heartseeker Thief themselves! Melee glass cannon? Good Luck!
I played the Heartseeker build for 2-3 games pre-nerf and was shocked at how pathetic and weak it is, good thing I switched right away!
Who’s sig is this ? “Professional Thief. Dominating in game and giving critical and valuable feedback on the forum.”
No, I have no evidence you switched class nor do I feel the need to look for it. In fact, I don’t even care what class you roll. My reply served only one purpose and man are your reactions predictable. :-)
And actually, you’re not humiliating me at all. But look at how overreacted your reactions get with each reply. :-) Don’t lose your cool, a dominating Thief like you needs all of it. :-)
I’m kind of curious why purchases in the BLTC don’t just delivered by mail directly to you? (Sorry, did I miss someone suggesting this?) If that happened, it would really eliminate the need for Trading Post NPCs.

If you think a certain profession is overpowered, make that profession and play it… it takes you less than 3 minuts to complete the intro and 5 minuts to get the correct build for your oh so overpowered Thief.
Naaah, not going that way, look what it did to you.
Honestly, if you like throwing grenades you can just do that and win everything. In orr you can pop elixir B/U and kill vets in the span of seconds. Large packs are no problem because the ability is AOE, and if you ever think you are going to die just use Supply Drop, it is the definition of an “I Win” button. I never kite, just make sure to throw out a chill grenade so mobs do 1/3 dmg at all times. (or move so slow you can just back peddle)
Honestly I died more times from falling.
So, with grenades we do very well in PVE and solo, but the fun factor is up to you to decide. I enjoy grenades, many don’t.
I’m astounded!
You are the definition of mean machine, one man army that wrecks the battlefield and conquers all!
I sent your post to ANet so they can rest assured there’s absolutely nothing to worry about and Engi is just fine as he is. Thanks for showing us the path!
You are bad, I have no trouble against Thieves as a Necromancer. Make a Thief and understand the profession, then learn to counter them instead of QQ’ing on the forums.
Wouldn’t expect any other reaction from a “professional Thief”. :-) “Dominating” might I add :-)
It doesn’t actually.
It’s probably a consequence of the fact that an Engineer simply needs to utilize EVERYTHING at his disposal to get at least halfway where other classes get with 1-2 button presses.
The problem is, some classes actually require a good amount of player skill to pull off half-decent stuff while others can faceroll their progress through the match.
The only ones who ever contradict this ancient truth are those who are insecure enough to keep exploiting this match after match.

Checking in with FPS issues as well. Everything was perfect at release with 100+ fps, within last couple weeks this drops to a steady 30-50 fps with spikes all the way down to 5 fps (mainly it seems when loading distant textures or open/close map). These are all with every setting maxed.
System Specs:
Intel core i7 3930k 3.2GHz 6 core
32Gb DDR3 quad core memory
2 EVGA GTX 680 O.C. in SLI
ASUS Sabretooth X79 chipset mobo(as you can see my system is way overkill for GW2 and I should not be having these issues. I also have no problems with anything else so this IS game related ANet.)
Downgrade is your only chance. I’ll send you a fresh lovely 460 in exchange for your 680s. Just PM me. :-)
I agree with this. As well as allowing us to craft directly from our “collectibles”, rather than having to pull the mats into our bags.
You can craft from your collectibles now you just can’t use them for discovery right now unless its in your inventory.
Eh… no.
Zaxan: Is it correct to assume that suddenly, coinciding with ANet’s patches, bad karma mental waves spread across the globe, damaging people’s hardware, downclocking GPUs, covering mobos with dust and corrupting video drivers ? :-)
Come on mate, just admit it already. :-)
If it was the game everyone with your card and CPU would have the same issue. Considering that there aren’t tens of thousands of posts saying so, it must be something else.
I’m not much of an expert in tech stuff, but I know if a game is running at 50 FPS one day, and in the next day there is a patch, then my framerate drops to 11 FPS (only in-game, in the character selection its fine), the problem must be in the game, and more specific, the patch.
Exactly. It’s not rocket science, it’s elementary logic.
If it was the game everyone with your card and CPU would have the same issue. Considering that there aren’t tens of thousands of posts saying so, it must be something else.
Number of posts doesn’t prove anything. People see there are others posting about their issue and therefore do not feel the need to post themselves.
Also, does GW2 utilize all cores ?
Apologies, i did overreact slightly there, I have been seeing a lot of people getting angry about it and got a bit carried away, im glad to see someone such as yourself is providing as much information as possible
However i do realise there are a lot of FPS issues at the moment, the game is very cpu and gpu intensive, understandably to a point as it is a very very pretty MMO. Im sure they will optimize things over time (also hardware will catch up too) and things will improve.
One saving grace may be if they choose to implement DirectX 11. As there is such a huge amount of high quality textures, the texture management in DX11 is much better than DX9 so this will provide a nice little boost in performance. So, fingers crossed on that one!
I’m glad we’re on the happy note again mate! :-)
DX11 would improve performance ? I didn’t look into that direction, so this is new to me. That would be good, but somehow I have this feeling DX11 is a bit further down on the list.
2 things puzzle me:
1, in BWE2 I personally had exceptionally good FPS, which declined substantially later on
2, a good portion of players claim their FPS got better after BWE2
Apparently there’s no middle-ground achievable, whatever ANet did, it helped some while it lowered performance for others. If I’m right in thinking, BWE2 was still almost completely CPU bound – after that, a good chunk of the load was shifted to the GPU and a lot of optimisation was put in place.
So that that had good processor but poor GPUs (mostly laptop owners) complained that performance went down, while those that had decent CPUs and good GPUs were delighted that performance went up.
That’s strange, I have exactly that, decent CPU and a 560GTX and my performance went down. The card still eats newest games for breakfast, I don’t have one bit to complain about its performance – outside GW2…
