I’ve heard of the new patch and got back from a 3~4 months break of GW2.
What i saw?
The same ZergxZerg, now with wannabe legends pve players who want to have 8723628763872 in Wrank.
Guards still a joke, seriously any half decent player can solo all the npcs in a keep/tower/camp with easy and you guys will really make them even weaker?
And of courses who have the night squad will rule the match.
And commander titles still being sold for gold? I saw 4 commanders who had no idea of what they were doing, herding the zerg to enemy territory when our towers had NO upgrades…
I think all the talk about W3 being important for Anet was false, since all they did was changes that only ppl who NEVER HAD PLAYED W3 WOULD DO.
Make the keeps/towers more defensible? make camp harder to take? Nah i will just add improvements to make the already easy to kill npc even easier.
Guess i will keep waiting for TESO.
Those who play Thief and are honest about it like Sylosi and me know that the Thief has the best survival in the game despite lower armor and hp. People have to stop using these lame excuses like hp and toughness and start talking about the real deal : stealth and mobility.
There is absolutely no reason why a Thief can spend 90% of a fight stealthed while having the best mobility in the game.
While it’s true, if a thief get CC he is done for. Mobility in a, most of time, melee character with no hard cc it’s not a plus is what make him viable.
Once a warrior begin to run, you can’t get him. While a elementalist have more mobility from x to y but can’t run at all.
So the “best mobility” take credit of your point.
I do believe they could do something about the restealth 20x in a fight. but saying “thiefs don’t need stealth” is flat dumb.
Anyway. Most of times I kill pretty much everything in W3 but some players just show why, it’s not because my class is OP is because most of players on this game are WoW raid’s players.
As a example:
I use steal, and the player instantly dodge 2 times in a row.
What’s the point? well after that is dancing dagger, CnD and backstab.
Raid’s players dont think ahead. they are gettin hit NOW, they want it stop and spend all their defenses in this moment. while i keep my burst for after that.
While good players, are a hell to kill. i steal, he begin to attack back.(their normal attack hit WAY harder than mine), when i used CnD they dodge once and dont let me get in his back.
That’s just a simple example, what ppl need to understand is: Thief do damage under some conditions(he is on your back, you get your health too low, etc) and while most of classes have one CD for everything(one for damage, one for CC, one to run, etc)
We have one “bar” for all. So we can use the “burst” 3 times in a row but after that no CC, and no way to run.
And i still get their point about thief being annoying to chase down. That’s why, IMO, Changing for complete invisi to just transluced, while giving it more time in this state, is a way of cutting down the thief’s fleeing ability but not turning it flat useless.
There is absolutely no reason why a Thief can spend 90% of a fight stealthed while having the best mobility in the game.
It’d be more like 25-30% of a longer, more drawn-out fight. (well technically 90% if the fight if over in under 3 seconds, lmao!)

Make the “invisibility” just translucent, i mean from afar would and should still hard to get the thief, but at blank point a good player would see the difference on colors.There’s also the lack of targetting, but completely invisible while not moving and a faint outline while moving would probably help a lot of people. I can state for a fact that I would no longer be able to poke a mob of 10+ WvW’ers in the butt, and then make a clean get away.
In this game, you dont need target to use ability, and actually hit with that…. so….

And if you do that, make sure that you let us use the new “invi” for more time, because if i can just use invi on our heal, and in melee range for 3 secs, and they still can see me… well it will be useless

If you think you should have total control over the WvWvW, with no players skill, just because you are in bigger numbers, like you showed in the Downed state topic. Sorry to say that dude, you are just making use of a flaw in the game.
PS: If your team/guild is stupid enough to let a thief kill and finish someone in mid of 30 like you said. Your team deserve to be wiped.

I just put the Truth as it stands, you look for the bright-side, i don’t.
You can keep fooling yourself the much you want. But since everything you have said/done keep ending in failure. I think it’s time to begin to look for others answers aside the “bright-side”.
While it’s good see a “bright-side” getting stuck there without ever trying something different will never solve anything.
PS: While i do support killing bots, i just put that there to show another face of the same coin.

I completely agree with this 100% and can not fathom how to +1 it anymore than I already did. Although the full implementation is definitely up in the air for discussion, the concept of this sounds the most fundamentally sound.
There is nothing wrong with downed state (save the few imbalanced on its implementation, if you choose to believe so). If anything, downed stated has been a boon and the fact that Anet decided to formalize it has been extremely pleasing to me. It is part of the game and how you react to it is your responsibility as a player.
For example, I’ve been in dungeon story/explore runs where I never die/wipe simply because our 5 guys act as a team, prioritize health management, condition management, etc. On the other hand, I’ve also been on teams that wipe consistently because people are out there for themselves. Because of that, the risk balance per player shifts drastically from a uniform/normal distribution to something outrageous akin a pareto distribution. Both outcomes, with pugs. Good players find a way to get downed players up. Bad players simply let downed players die. This works in PvE and PvP.
With that said, as far as WvW goes, right now there is nothing that deters a dead player from getting revived if they have superior numbers. They simply win the engagement, and anyone that has died, simply gets revived. Any sides can have zergs, but whichever side has the most successful zerg will always be successful, because their numbers will never drop. There’s simply no logistical cost if you are on the winning side; you never have to respawn at the WP. On the other hand, if you lose a battle, it’s always a complete loss. There’s nothing to be salvaged save the few loot bags you may have picked up.
Once you’re dead, you should stay dead. As of now, every battle culminates in a 100% victory for the winning side, and a 100% defeat for the losing side. If we get rid of revives once your dead, then these numerical margins can start to deviate and we can actually have meaningful confrontations on the battlefield. Wins and losses can be 70/30, 40/60, 90/10, etc. Things will start to be dynamic.
TL DR – Downed state is here to stay. Revives when dead, get rid of that, please.
If the battle ends in a complete wipe one way then it was a poor decision to engage. This puts more focus on choosing your fights wisely.
The problem here is that game balance would be destroyed with your suggestion. You could just stealth out with a thief and pick off one person every time for example. Even if they manage to kill you then you can run back much faster as a defender most times.
The advantage is also with the defenders in multiple ways already if people play correctly. They don’t need MORE advantages.
Until were i know, the defenders SHOULD have the advantage. Castle were build to make a small force hold against a bigger force, why in a game should be different?
PPL need to understand that sieges, its not made by killing the oil, them placing rams and hitting the door until it falls.
We have catas, treb, ballistas, and i’m pretty sure anet didn’t placed all tha just for show.

While what you talk is “big and cool” in words, just in words.
Pulling it off in THS game as it stands is impossible.
Why? Like i said, ok we begin the guerrilha tactic. Nice we get a tower and leave, we dont have power to defend it anyway, then 3~5 mins after that the tower is taken back.
Sorry dude, this isn’t changing the course of battle. No matter how you look at it.
Guerrilha tactics works in real world because you get ambushed and killed is end, you are done, minus one enemy in the oposite team.
While in a game, the numbers don’t change, and even worse Thx to the ress system, it not even slow down the enemy.
If you like conquering places with no players defending it, thinking you are changing the game, go ahead, do that, but not fool yourself.
You are just playing seek and hide, your impact over the actual game is zero, and you aren’t in a WvWvW you are in PVE mode in a PVP map.
Don’t try to be smart. And if you like of PVE, there’s ppl who don’t.

What you have said it’s nothing new. I know that can be done, and i know that isn’t going to change nothing in the end.
While i could brag we ninja camps/towers and blabla, in the overral taking a point that, you can/will not defend is pointless. Why? The zerg of enemies will come and take it back in 5 mins or less.
I was Sneaking camps/towers with my friend and actually tried to ninja the garrison, yesterday the attack you guys got in our Bordelands on garrison, just before the gates were upgraded to reinforced. begun with me and 2 more, we took down the west south gate but well, we just didn’t have the numbers do get inside. After that the commanders “tried” to sneak with golems and failed.
While doing it, for the lols, 1~2 times is funny, doing it the whole matchup is pointless.
And we are at this point. And sorry dude i don’t like to play hide n seek a whole war.
When and If Anet begin to do something, maybe i will play WvWvW seriously. How it is right now is pathetic.

GoM, aside prime time in weekend, never had ppl enough to get the “cap” in all the maps.
It’s easy as that we just don’t have the number, example was on the weekend. while we are doing our job in Eternal and our home, 3 keeps in our home ankittenep 5 towers and SM in eternal, we had close of nothing in the others map. Why? because we don’t have the number. Easy as that.
Yesterday a friend and I were doing blitzkrieg, attacking dolyaks/camps and gtfo before SoR came.(if you look at the SS i posted The noobs commander gomes were talking about me and my friend with the “army of 2”)
Putting humility aside, i can say , both of us can hold our own.
At the point we were being chased by a group of 5~10 and we still managed to kill 6, probably noobs and not at the same time, before going down.
And you want know what’s funny? Even doing great, the game is so “numbers win battles” oriented that while we managed to finish 2 we need to fall back, getting surrounded when outnumbered it’s never a good idea, fighting in a way of don’t getting surrounded 2 players were reviving the guys we downed, and managed to finish, in the end no matter how much times we killed them, how much more geared neither how “better”, if you let me say that, we were over these guys, who probably were beginners, it was a fight we never could win.
This game is basically that: If the enemy have at least 2 players who ress who die and you are outnumbered, you are done for, it’s a battle you will never win. Easy as that. You can kill how much enemies you like, they will keep coming thx to the game mechanics.
So tell me, how we fight back when:
You guys have 3 orbs.
More organization than most of us.
Numbers, you guys have the numbers too.
And on top of all that, we are in a game were numbers, while don’t win by themself, is the key for any, actual, victory.
This game has flaws.
But like i said it’s not the players fault, well if you are a server jumper than it’s your fault too, it’s Anet’s fault.
Don’t get me wrong, i don’t think giving up is the best answer. But the truth be said. We are in a battle we can’t win. And this battle cost us silver, in my case gold, and i’m not going to lay down blueprints, that i bought doing boring farm, i HATE farming.
I’ve said it some time ago and it still in my mind.
Anet doesn’t care about WvWvW, and looks like doesn’t care about the game itself.
The game are full of bots, exploids, gold sellers.
The economy is sinking.
Looks like at least 50% of the population who were there in the launch of game already quitted.
Because, to be fair:
Pve in this game is a BIG joke.(last boss anyone? i got so bored on him that i went afk.)
sPvP is meh, something that all the other game have.
While WvWvW is the only place where GW2 really shine Anet doesn’t give a kitten about it.
Bots in it.
They didn’t take off this server transfer kitten, and i’m talking about not even paied or with limitations i’m talking about completely. we already have the guest system.
The orbs are pretty much a joke. While i like the idea of some “objective”. The orb itself is the worst idea possible. Seriously? the winner, who already is supossed to be stronger then the other, get more power?
Next idea for you Anet. For each 1K of lead have over the others they win 10% more of power.
Anet already got our money, they don’t care if we keep playing or not.
And don’t say that i’m not giving solution because. We have ideas for solutions over the whole forum. Anet just need to move their kitten and read/dosomething.
While they don’t do nothing. I hope you guys enjoy defending against the wind while we are AFK.
You guys were “strong” but what made you guys take so much lead was the infusion of players. And you can’t deny it.
Before you guys were OK, could be winning but could be losing too, but right now the advantage of players/organization is just out of hand.
It’s not your fault. It’s Anet fault. but that’s not your achievement too.
Yeah, GoM has lost almost all of our WvW guilds over the past month. We can no longer compete with any of the mid-tier worlds. We just don’t have the numbers or the strategy at this point =(
The strategy is there.
The numbers did play a factor, but it wasn’t the only factor.
The biggest factor is this: People mindlessly do things on their own, the (one and only) zerg goes to random places it has not business going, ignoring even commanders, and those who have given any ounce of coordination and strategic thinking.
GoM really has ZERO discipline. None whatsoever. And that is the biggest reason why we’re losing.
No one follow the commanders because these are the commanders we have.
So tell me… do you actually believe that kind of player deserve to be a commander? or any respect of others?

And at least for me these kinda of commanders are far from what i will follow.

I’ve seen PPL from both server teleport up and down of the cliffs and outmoving me, i’m a thief speed stacker. I’ve reported. But i didn’t came here and called everyone of cheaters, because most of the ppl didn’t use this kind of thing.
We, GoM, came from 2 weeks of total defeat. And ppl said we had cheaters than.
Now you guys came and said we are winning because of 1~2 cheaters?

Well now i think something is clear Anet don’t care about WvWvW. 2 weeks ago i called for it. i still waiting a response.
It’s funny how my server used to have 1h of wait to WvWvW in prime time. Now you can get in at any time you want.
Guess we already are losing players… and looks like that’s the Anet plan, make ppl quit, so they can close “ghost servers”, that they created with kitteny support, and reduce costs…
We already pay for the game anyway, who cares if we keep playing it or not.

For now GG.From CD here and I’ve got to say after spending an entire day till 4am fighting I’d say it’s your own fault you guys didn’t defend well enough. As for the tactics at the spawn, you have 3 ways out of every spawn and if you can’t manage to rush one of them then it’s kind of your own fault again. Have your thieves stealth, have your engineers toss elixir B and S together then do supply drops on top of the siege weapons, and have your guardians put up some defense as well with swiftness. We do this all the time to take back heavily camped supply camps. When you work together its amazing what you can accomplish than sitting in spawn complaining about what’s going on.
Im sorry how many supply camps do you take with 8+ seige devices in one spot? Short of MAYBE pangloss with enough time i would suspect 0.
I might add that you only need however many people on those siege devices while the rest of you could easily go retake anything thats lost to the small force that would make a break for it.
About 7-8 times yesterday. Happens a lot more often than you think as keeping supplies low is game changing in WvWvW.
Dude you are noob. Straight to the point.
EVEN if we had enough manpower to take the camp back. The camp would give 100~120. Not even close enough to take a keep with 750+ supplies full of sieges. And to make everything worse we would have our WP pinned down. Our players would take more time to go to the keep than yours players would take going from SM to the keep.
Don’t think because your server has a “night squad”, who do all the job for you, you know anything about tactics. Because you don’t.

BlackGate got a HUGE advantage in the first night because of some random night squad?
In the begin of the second day they had almost everything and like 15k+ points lead over both CD and GoM.
Them CD begun a comeback with GoM right after them.
We were doing OK.
So some players of Crystal Desert begin to transfer to our server and begin to help the CD.
Until were i played we had like. 30 players+ in the black gates borderlands playing for CD.(defending their keeps, taking supplies of our keeps and wasting it).
We, somehow, hold our own with like 20~30 players in a fantastic demonstration of team work until Sunday mid afternoon, when i logged out.
Was a funny day. even we playing VERY outnumbered(we had 60~70 players and 20~30 were CD’s players)
When i logged today we had nothing with 10 balistas pointed to our WP. Nice. very very nice.

When we talk about WvWvW Arena.net looks like dont care at all.
These “problems” were there when the WvWvW was 1 day long, it happened and YET they made it 1 week long without fixing it.
When people came and pointed the problem we got a "Well it’s not our fault if players make “mobs” in one server"

While i belive it’s true that to a server succeed, it should have players from all around the world.
IT’S very obvious for me that 70~80% of the players are in a time zone. So it’s IMPOSSIBLE to every server get a “night squad”.
I’m not saying to block/cap others timezones, but something need to be done to mitigate the damage done by that.
And even when i, you, everyone said that Arena.net was silence.
So yeah at least in my point of view. Arena.net don’t care about WvWvW, sadly, because it’s what make GW2 different of others games.
Anyway sorry my bad english but i think people will get the idea.
When i say that the WvWvW map is poorly designed people complain. But lets face it. IT’s one of the Worst pvp maps ever.
You cant put sieges in your respawn, but the enemy can put in places close of your respawn.
And what turns all worse. Arena net just dont care about it.

Players of Crystal Desert are transfering for our server, taking our slots on WvWvW and defending against Blackgate.
When your opponents are THAT pathetic. You just lose the will to play.
When this transfer bullkitten stop maybe we will be back in action.
PS: for who didn’t get what’s happening in the SS. We had more players defending North Gate, place were Blackgate comes from, then actually trying to take the keep.

You are in a pvp map. So you should expect pvp.
Shani i get your point. But that’s something can’t be fixed without being unfair if they have 298173921793 arrow carts it’s because someone spend money/time to do that. You can’t just come and say “it cannot be done”.
Of courses is paintfull try to retake a hold well defended by sieges, but lets face it IT’S how this is supossed to be.
I’ve never heard about a castle being taken by a army of half the number of the defenders.
Something that when i’m playing and i notice is:
PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO SPEND IN WvWvW. They think the WvWvW is a big PvP.
They try to take a castle just by rushing in the gates. And what you want is reward that kinda of player.
Dude i will give a example.
Most of times, in my world, the players dont try to take keeps with trebu/cata. They just go ->zerg the oil put a ram and gg.(when they build ram)
Read some books about history/medieval wars. A well defended castle were FREAKING HARD to fall. Why in the game it should be easy?
WvWvW isn’t and shouldn’t be for everyone.
My suggestion goes for the point that. A minor force could defend a single tower/keep and still helping his world. And even if it fail(they have FAR more players than you)
They could go for flash assaults in camps.
But i do believe that my “fix” need some tweeks. Like:
A way to deny strategys like “get every single point in the map than leave and make 9238921831902 points again”
And i think things like: places that didn’t fall for more time, give WAY more karma/gold.(at least to cover the time/money spend to take the point in question)
PS: Don’t fool youself. A player who is Pveing(killing normal mobs) in a PVP map already is hurting his own team. He is taking place of someone else, who could be actually helping his team. I take a Quote that i’ve seen in this forum.

Doom this would kill completely the act of defending a stronghold since you will be rewarded for that just every 6 hours.
Remember in this case defending you are denying the points for a world. but not actually bringing your world back in the competition.
Easy and simple.
Make the points won in the map scale with the population.
WWP = porcentage of points world points won
WP = in map worldpopulation
EWP1 = in map enemy world 1’s population
EWP2 = in map enemy world 2’s population
Using a formula like that(open for discusions):
PWP = (EWP1 * 100 / WP + EWP2 * 100 / WP)/2
(yea based in porcentage of the world pops)
A example:
In a borderlands map X world have 150 players while Y have 100 and Z have 75.
X points = (75*100/150 + 100*100/150)/2
X points = (50 + 75)/2
X points = 125/2 = 62.5%
Y points = (150*100/100 + 75*100/100)/2
Y points = (150 + 75)/2
Y points = 225/2=112.5%
Z points = (150*100/75 + 100*100/75)/2
Z points = (200 + 133.3)/2
Z points = 333.3/2 = 166.6%
Now lets say with these numbers X control 2 Keeps 2 towers and 3 camps = “85 points”
Y control 2 towers and 3 camps = “35 points”
and everyone in Z is trying to hold a Keep = “25points”
In these conditions:
World X make 62.5% of 85 = 53 points
World Y make 112.5% of 35 = 39 points
World Z make 166.6% of 25 = 41 points
