All I really want from the soulbeast is the ability to rotate through three or four pets instead of two.

To sum it up :
- Rangers already use spears (underwater)
- New fonction : why not? Still feel useless thought
- That’s not how stances work.
- A skill (being elite or utility) should not define the elite spec.

What you need to do about this concept is to flesh it out a lot. When someone take an e-spec he is forced to use the traitline and the “new mechanism” that come along. Utility skills and weapon are mainly accessory even if anet make them strong enough to break any kind of balance with other weapon/skills.

You obviously want to have more pet with you, change the new fonction into :
F5 skill : summon 2 weaker pets to support your current pet for x seconds. CD Y seconds.

Describe shrotly each traitline in your E-spec tree :
- Up : Defensive traitline, capitalise on the shield and on the boon protection.
- Middle : Middle and minor trait capitalize on the pack effect, making the ranger stronger the more pet he got with him.
- Down : Traitline that focus on restraining foes with cripple effect, chill or whatever.

Here I put the shield in the traitline example so I’ll focus on the design of a shield.
- #4 : Create a wave with your shield that surround you giving prot to allies and inflicting a crippling effect to surrounding foes.
- #5 : Block all incoming melee attack and reflect projectile for 3 seconds. Animation show a turtle shell surrounding the ranger

As for the utilities :
Stance :
heal : Water turtle stance : channel the skill for 2-3 second destroying projectiles. for each projectile destroy gain X health. Gain Y health at the end of the channeling.
Utility : Warhound stance : For X seconds your mouvements skills will daze the foe that you hit.
Hellbear stance : For x second reduce incoming direct damage by 50%. Gain 3 might each time you are hit (1 second ICD)
Felin stance : enter stealth, bleed your foe on hit if you hit it while stealthed.

Elite stance : Oakheart stance : For X second, each time you hit a foe you lose a condition. For each condition lost you and your pet(s) gain a small amount of health.

I like the stances! However the spear is land-based since it is one of the most popular requests for a new weapon.

Well Kryta’s salvation and the beaded axe skins look pretty good too

Dragon.4782

So I am sure we all heard of the next expansion leak and the next elite spec for our animal loving class. However, I would like to share what I would like to see in the expansion that comes after this expansion. I think a Warden would be a great idea and here is what I think should be it’s skills and specs.

Weapon: Spear (two hand melee condition damage weapon that is also more maneuverable than the GS) or shield (Gives rangers more durability)

New function: can now rotate between three pets instead of two.

Utility: stances (with passive abilities and active abilities, like signets)

Elite skill: Fight as One (summon all three pets you have equipped in your stable to assist you in battle. Only the pet you have currently equipped can use its special ability)

What do you guys think?

The Argument for Tengu/a new race

Dragon.4782

I saw a comment on the “One Path Ends” trailer and someone mentioned how Tengu are coming. Firstly that is a great Joke. Secondly, that being said it is a possibility that Tengu join in the fray because we have no reason to side with Zhaitan’s remaining forces and we will be fighting lots of what appears to be hands of titans, so either it’s a dirty free for all or we call upon the Tengu to get some ships with Tengu soldiers and assist in the charge!

When did they say the Tengu would be a playable race?

It has been hinted numerous times that tegu were heading towards being a playable race. The most commonly quoted one being that they were meant to be playable in early drafts of the game, but weren’t due to time constraints. if you saw the more recent models of tengu they are fairly different in their idle animations and combat animations so there is some reason to believe that tengu are heading towards playability. Just not an official statement outside of one dev saying that for HoT they had a choice between a new race and a new profession.

If people are thinking : ‘’Hey there’s mounts in this game , i’m gonna play’’ NO! If you are playing this game/ came back from a break just for the mounts, you shouldn’t be here.

[Keep GW2 different] : This game was different before Raids came and now mounts. Am I playing GW or the clone of a clone ?

I am not getting the expansion for the mounts, like the majority i am here for the crystal desert and Elona. That being said, i don’t mind the griffin and jackal mount but i will only use them when its completely necessary and not for the fun of it. Also, i stand by the fact that they should’ve focused more on working towards tengu or kodan playability than mounts.

Why do so many people want a bard class so bad?

At launch we had two classes that never got released. The first being Commando which every knows won’t happen due to tech. The second is the minstrel that later revealed itself to be the Mesmer.

A Bard and a Minstrel are more or less the same and the reason it’s so requested is because Anet put the idea out to begin with and it stuck.

As for the elites that were leaked I’m fine with them the Axe for Mesmer is rather weird what with Mesmers being the duelist class. An axe isn’t something you’d usually duel with after all. The Mesmer needed another melter option so it’s alright. What I’d like is an overhaul for the core classes however since if these new ones might be another power creep then base Mesmer will fall even farther behind and other so will the other core classes.

Well a support/group healer and buff and condition remover Mesmer would be pretty useful especially in raids and group events!

Necromancer:Witchdoctor

Well, I would be highly disappointed if this would happen.
We have already some kind of a witchdoctor with the necromancer, at least some skills resemble those of a witchdoctor.
Therefore I´m gonna add my wish for the third expansion.

I was hoping for a Spear-on land weapon for either Warrior or Guardian, as Paragon ES or Lancer ES.
But NOPE…!!
I was so sad to see none will get a Spear weapon now that we’re heading to Elona.

I really wanted to Spear (spear+shield or just longspear) would have make it to this expansion, specially Paragon… it’s just meh to me now..

I agree I am upset that we aren’t getting land spears, but I think our time in Elona might open up the door to having land spears in the expansion that follows this next one!

why give the classes underwater weps they already have?

It is to make them terrestrial weapons! Spears in particular have been a very popular request to be made a terrestrial weapon and I think it would be awesome to implement spears as land weapons. I mean think of all the acrobatic maneuvers and mechanics they could use for this!

Dragon.4782

So as many of you know the next expansion’s elite specs have been leaked. I would like to hear what you all think about this, and what elite specs you like and which ones you think could have been different.

In addition, I also thought i would have some fun and post what I would like to see in the expansion after this upcoming one. I know it is really REALLY early to start thinking about those prospects but hey, maybe someone at Anet might read this and think it is a good idea! (when I say stances I mean abilities that make you either move faster, withstand more damage, regenerate energy and/or health faster, etc.)

Elite specializations:

Warrior: Sentinel (melee spear, Traps, shoulder armor skin; more evasive but less burst damage than the great sword; closing the gap)

Guardian: Inquisitor (daggers, stances, shoulder armor skin; main hand melee and off-hand ranged)

Revenant: Savior (greatsword, signets, shoulder armor skin; Turai build)

Ranger: Warden (shield or spear, stances, helmet skin; if shields, then cc. if spear then a mix of great sword burst damage and sword/dagger evasion; you can have three pets to rotate through instead of two)

Thief: Headhunter (throwing axes, stances, glove skin; throw axes off hand and pull enemies in for lethal mainland attacks, third skill is spin to win that deals pure armor ignoring damage)

Engineer: Bulwark (mace, signets, glove skin; pretty self explainatory)

Elementalist: Shaman (greatsword, tomes, gloves; wards that deal elemental damage and conditions depending on the ward you are using)

Necromancer: Witchdoctor (sword, tomes, shoulder skin; sacrifice your health to deal armor ignoring damage; shroud becomes a horde of ghouls)

Mesmer: Bard (warhorn, shouts, head piece; aoe support and illusions that can buff allies and remove conditions based on which utility illusion you are using)

What do you think?

Dragon.4782

Keep GW2 different – it doesn’t need mounts.

With profits in decline since launch and HoT failing to impress investors, it’s really no surprise that they’d turn to mounts, which are probably the most popular item in MMOs. Just look at how easy gliders sell. Not only will mounts likely be more accessible, assuming they don’t screw them up by making them a gimmick, there’ll also be several types to buy skins for.

Well maybe if they added tengu and/or kodan as a playable race, profits would be so bad. Especially since they are the two most popular candidates for playable races and they fit in with the lore (with koan rallying the far north to stand against Jormag and the tengu slowly leaving their isolationist culture behind).

Pet questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dragon.4782

Dragon.4782

So i am curious about some pets that either should come to the game later or should be in the game.

First off there are the green and golden moas. Why do these guys not get love but all the others do? Personally I think a quickness screech for green moa as its F2 ability and the fear screech for the golden moa’s F2. These guys deserve a chance to fight on our side as we save the world from elder dragons.

Secondly, more aquatic pets. Dolphins should come in the game either later or soon seeing that only jellyfish, Sharks, and armorfish can only go so far. More variety will make people more eager to explore the depths of the seas of Tyria and with more animals at the Rangers side would be a good direction to go.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions they want to add, feel free to post or comment about it.

Sword for Chronomancer

I am looking for a sword that looks very “Watchwork-like” but since there are no watchwork skins and chronomancers use time as their combat tool, i feel like a sword with some kind of clock-like feel or look to it would be fitting. Anyone know of any swords that look like that?

Honestly they should put Exalted Gatherer down to number three since so many people want to get ascended tier gear and it is already a struggle to get but getting that mastery is a serious grind issue, as well as the stealth detection, but that one is understandable.

Dragon.4782

I came up with ideas for the next set of elite specializations for fun so here they are:

Ranger: Warden (shield and CC utility)

Thief: Sniper (rifle and longbow and evasion utility)

Engineer: Tinkerer (mace and signet utility)

Elementalist: Shaman (sword and well utility)

Necromancer: Witchdoctor (torch and traps utility)

Mesmer: Bard (dual-scepters and shout utility)

I don’t have any ideas for the Soldier Professions but if you have any ideas and suggestions I would like to hear them! Do you like the ones I have thought of? If not, what would you think would be a better “next elite spec”?

Warden: rangers can now use shields

Shield Skills:

Boomerang: throw your shield and stun multiple enemies.

Cornered Reaction: block incoming attacks and Knock back adjacent enemies when stance ends

Utility: ranger can now use stances for better crowd control

Dolyak’s Charge: ram your shoulder into target enemy, stunning and dazing them.

Oakheart Smash: stomp the ground and launch enemies.

Vinewhip: lash at target enemy, then pull them from the crowd.

Any other suggestions? What do you guys think of this suggestion?

IS there a way to fix the experience needed to level up a mastery? i mean it takes forever to get to level 2 and for one mastery line we need to get to level 4! i am sorry but it would mean a bunch of repetitive grinding in an area that is comprised of one meta-event for only a small handful of experience.

I mean if moas and drakes can get a new member why not all the others to?

Okay fair enough. May as well throw dolphins and whales while we are at it. Also what kind of wild dog lives in the forests? I mean there are jungle boars and several different birds you could make tameable like Harpy Eagle. However we already have jungle spiders and all the others just don’t fit. Scaled Drakes and Green Moas were originally planned for the original game but got scrapped due to time constraints so…

Aside from the Bristleback, Smokescale, Tiger, and the Wyverns are there going to be anymore pets for rangers to tame? Specifically new members to already existing families (i.e. Green Moas for Moas and Scaled Drakes for Drakes) or new families (i.e Raptors or Dolphins)?
