There is one example already in-game that embodies the Warrior class, in my opinion. That example is the downed skill, Vengeance. In my experience, when a Warrior goes down on the battlefield, everyone stops to go secure that kill, because if they wait long too long, that Warrior comes back as a serious threat. I expected Warriors to be the “Oh kitten! Kill it quick!” class, not the “Lol look a Warrior, kill it.” class.

I really feel that because the class was advertised as being easy lots of players just expect everything to be handed to them. Oh we want to deal 15k per hit and be able to stay alive the entire combat, simply ridiculous.

A warrior is not a guardian and I completely agree with your points, it doesn’t need more defensive boons, they don’t fit the profession’s theme. Vengeance was actually the reason I rolled a warrior, it really does represent the tenacity and determination of the profession. And it rocks, specially in pvp when u get the chance to destroy the person that downed you at the price of your life, but who cares, as Valeria in Conan the barbarian says: “do you want to live forever?”

But I do agree that warriors need more depth in their gameplay.
My suggestion is a new defensive F2 skill that is not linked to a weapon set:

F2 -> berzerker cleansing
makes the warrior immune to conditions for 4 seconds (and cleans the ones already on you)
But there’s a catch, it costs 3 adrenaline bars + a full energy bar + 25% of your current life. So it’s best to use it when you’re close to death.

A lot of testing needs to be done to make sure it’s not under/over powered.

To compensate, the stats on the banners I suggested above are slightly lower than the ones on the live banners. For example, live is 170 healing and 10% boon duration, while the one I suggested (tactics banner) is 100 heal, 10% boon. My suggested duration on inspire was reduce from live to compensate for its ease of use too. Finally, only a single banner can be active at a time, whereas before you could drop 3 banners and warbanner and get all the buffs (in theory anyway, though the reality is they get stolen in WvW, left behind in mobile fights or when AOE-death-rings appear, etc).

In my opinion (yours may vary) they’d balance out fairly nicely.

I’m sure there’s a way to balance the abilities but they would lose their flavor.
A banner dropping from the skies strikes fear into the opponents (a new trait idea) and looks awesome -let’s face it ^^.

I thought about something yesterday, maybe they could make them ground locked after being summoned -no one else can move them except the warrior who called it- and pressing F2 would unlock them.

I have to say that I like your ideas on the banners – my favorite warrior skills. But I cannot help but wonder if these changes will make them overpowered.
Isn’t the price of all the advantages a banner give, the “clunkiness” you describe?

Axe skills animations

I play a charr necro and I hate the axe animation skills.

Skill #1: bleh, the animation should more aggressive. It feels like my char is just waiving aimlessly in the air.

Skill #2: is so crap. Is it a placeholder anim that was never switched out? Seriously arena, you have an amazing art team and this is what everybody agreed on? Really?

I realize it’s entirely subjective but does anybody else feels the same?

Well you’re not alone, I noticed this issue after creating my char.

It’s only really obvious on some armor, the HOMM one for instance if I remember correctly

I added a pic but it’s not that bad on it.

I would to share this feature (“bug”) with you today. No idea if it has been mentioned before, but you can actually hover as a mursaat.

To make this happen you need to:

walk/run -> blink -> use the ability 4 on your focus -> you’re floating ^^

(keep on pressing the up key during the entire sequence)

VoilĂ , it’s fun and it makes you feel like a powerful spellcaster!

Has anyone noticed this on the Ancient Mursaat Token (from the Laurel Vendor):

“Some warn that the Mursaat will return to agonize the people of Tyria once more.”

Is arena net teasing us? Or are they really returning? ^^

I’m thinking that maybe we shouldn’t worry about the cool factor, if the new race will appear in an expansion it’s supposed to be flashier than the original ones to increase sales and attract new players.

Mursaat? would your character be invisible to other players unless they have ascended gear? lol. WaAay too powerful/god like to be playable. Plus weren’t they all defeated?

First of all lol, the invisible bit made me laugh.

I’m thinking that some of the Mursaat them could have escaped/survived their race’s slaughter. They remained hidden to regroup, start over and maybe plot their vengeance

The dragon’s awakening and specially their consumption of magic saps most of their powers and makes them less godly. Now they decide to reveal themselves to the other races in order to survive.

Come on, it could work ^^

The only problem is that these three races are way too cool compared to the playable ones as of now.

I’m just hoping they won’t release the Tengus as a playable one, too lame.

Karka Slayer Potion

With one powerful potion of slaying you can deal +10% dmg, receive -10% dmg and get +10 experience per kill against an enemy type.

Awesome in dungeons or Orr for instance where everything is undead even chicken ^^
