Because it’s hilarious. They chase you and see you pop your cool downs and desperately try to get away. You get slowed, knocked-down, and you slowly go down. Then, they see you on the ground with your gaping mouth getting auto-attacked to death. There are bits of experience and loots to go around. Sunshine and unicorns for everyone except you. Of course, they don’t neglect do the follow-up searching for your kitten post claiming how hilarious it is that you got brutally ganked.

I feel your pain. In the end, it would be best for your mental health to add particularly competent and friendly people you had the pleasure of grouping with.

I wouldn’t really say it’s in the dungeon design. The mechanics you mentioned involved alternating hammers and the dredge fractals are by no means complicated. Sometimes, you just get extremely incompetent people no matter which game you’re playing.

All those snipers can down someone who is not in heavy armor with one volley, and it’s hard to tell when they are going to fire. It was one of my most hated dungeons because it always seemed that they focused me first.

But yeah, the mobs in this dungeon are terrible. Not to mention the shotgun weilding, rapid firing, knockdown happy boss and the boss with the ice flame thrower which chills anyone in an area.

It’s all about knowing the mechanics. Bandit Riflemen do double damage against moving targets. It’s not very much if you’re standing still. It also draws a huge crosshair under your feet when they’re aiming at you. You should have plenty of time to stop moving, dodgeroll, or LoS.

The shotgun boss puts both hands on the shotgun and aims at someone. You simply need to dodgeroll or back off when that happens.

Once you know what to look out for, CM is a cake.

Pretty sure that Basilisk venom is the only thief elite usable underwater. Also, none of the racial elites can be used underwater.

This Thief hacking?

Certainly looks like he may be hacking. He definitely had dual pistols out during the entirety of the teleport chain around 0:06. He uses swiftness, unloads, teleports, unloads, and then teleports again.

Swiftness empties your endurance, and since it looks like he never used his Signet of Agility to refill his endurance, it couldn’t have been laggy dodgerolls. (Would it still show on his status if he used its active?) Besides, dodgerolls on Swiftness don’t look cracked out like that.

Do you have another clip that doesn’t have that kitten banging in the background? Maybe there’s some audio cues we could listen for.

I would understand, if it was some other MMO with like 30 skills +30 macros on skill bars, but in GW2 you have only 10 skills available at the time. Yet, you fail to watch even half of them, which is five.

This is funny. You can’t even put two and two together to realize that we’re talking about the enemy Asura thief, not the guy playing the thief in the video (which is the OP). I would understand if the OP put together some elaborate and lengthy post, but you’re having trouble parsing three lines?

Is this a bug or what?

As someone mentioned earlier, S/P will turn PvE leveling into easy mode. It’s reliable and doesn’t require you to jump around and potentially attract other mobs.

I think it’s the 15-point trait in Critical Strikes that allows you to regain initiation on critical hits. Once you get this, you will be able to sustain the combo until your finger falls off. Pull 3 or so at a time, and Black Powder + Auto Attack. After each Black Powder, you want to go through two cycles of your auto attack (do the combo twice) and reapply Black Powder after. Although pretty boring, this has its uses later on – such as trying to solocap a camp in WvWvW. I personally also used Ambush to take some heat off of me and for the extra DPSs.

Your Thief Background

Guess you mean the options during the character creation.
(Tiny bit of spoiler)
My thief is a human – I chose noble birth mainly for the ‘better than thou’ vibe. I suppose I would have done it for most human professions anyways. I personally dig the idea of my character living a privileged and comfortable life as opposed to being a laboring working class or a street rat scraping a living somehow. (Working class and street rat are the two others options, for those who don’t have human characters)

With a street rat thief (which I guess is technically most appropriate), I got a picture of someone stealing out of desperation. That seems a little too… not sure how to put it into words, but not something I wanted for my main. For working class and noble-birth, I would see someone who developed a bit of hobby causing small ruckuses and lifting small things. That seemed to fit better with a loaded noble rather than a busy worker.

Also, since there is supposed to be something of a connection between my GW1 character and my GW2 character (obviously not lineage… but something…), I’d rather not see my GW2 living less than a privileged life in a country my GW1 scooped out of the fire.

For the ‘one regret I have’ part, I chose the circus. The other two options (unknown parents & possibly dead sister) are bit too characterizing… or I guess it’s better to say that the circus doesn’t do much to set up the character despite being a background story choice (since all you get is that your character really wanted to join the circus), but that is exactly how I wanted it. Bless the writers, but having my character agonizing and working to find the missing sister or parents didn’t quite sit with the ‘careless, privileged, occasionally thieving noble’ idea I had.

Of course, I chose charm option for the sass. It also seemed to me like the sense of humor from originally GW1 would best translate in Charm dialogue options. (Turns out the fighting option carries it pretty well too.)

I believe humans also had an option between subtlety, bruiser, and subterfuge. Subtlety being a silent and deadly whatever, bruiser being… a bruiser, and subterfuge being a talker. I took subterfuge.

As a human, you can also select the god who supposedly blessed you. I considered Dwayna, simply because she’s the head of the gods… and who doesn’t want to be blessed by the god who can beat up all the other gods… Still, Lyssa seemed to fit the idea of messing with people better.

Thanks for the replies. The noise is coming from the speakers. I don’t think I could stay so calm if I heard ripping noises coming from my computer body.
I will try messing around with the sound a bit. I will keep you updated if anything changes.

Occasional tearing noise and FPS drop

Hello,
So, I very recently built a new computer for myself (i5-3570K processor and Radeon 7870 card). I am able to run the game very smoothly at ultra settings, but, occasionally, I start hearing what sounds like radio interference soon followed by FPS drop. (Not the ‘beep boop’ noise but something closer to leaving your old antennae television on a defunct channel. Kinda like a guy ripping papers?) The FPS drop that accompanies the sound bug is rather steep and actually turned into a frozen screen for few seconds once. This does happen very rarely though. I don’t think I’ve seen it happen more than once in a single sitting (as in playing without exiting the client).

The only other thread I’ve found on similar issue is: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Sound-Issue-Ripping-Popping/first#post228653
It doesn’t sound like it has been resolved though.

I am running AMD Catalyst 12.11 for the graphics software, DirectX 11, and it looks like my graphics driver is fully updated at the moment.

This doesn’t really bother me that much, seeing it happens every once in awhile and goes away, but I’d honestly feel better if it was a commonly documented issue since I’m hoping it’s caused by the game and not the computer I just built.
Thank you
