Master's Bond – stacks wiped by swimming on surface!

The problem is not the way that the bonus is lost, it is the design of the trait. As Lothair stated, the design of this trait is completely contradictory to the design of the class. Heck, the entire rest of the trait line is about pet swapping, so why have one trait that rewards ignoring the rest?

If I log into the website, email authentication goes out, I authorise and I am logged in. As expected. If I then click on the Forums link, I am logged out and have to go through this again. It only seems to keep me logged in if I log in from the forum, not the website.

Black Lion Chests?

I have opened over a dozen chests so far (the chests often seem to have keys inside them). All you ever get is useless crap you cannot even vendor for some coppers. Honestly, I would be happier if they stopped cluttering up the drop lists with these things. Some Jute scraps would be more useful, and sell for something :P

Assist the Chaos krewe: buggy dialogue

In the `Assist the Chaos krewe’ heart, one of the ways to progress is to speak to Skritt and try convince them. This is near impossible, as the dialogue closes itself very quickly (fraction of a second). There are two dialogue sections, both of which feature this issue.

To extend the above facts, English Longbowmen would use great big hammers (Mauls) to hammer defensive stakes into the ground as protection against cavalry. When they found themselves caught in melee, they would swing these hammers around.

Why I think that crafting is broken

I cannot understand how anyone can state that you never need to `grind’ out garbage discoveries.

The Weapon crafts are perfect examples. Most classes would not even be able to use all the weapon types, let alone actually do so. More than likely, you need two or three discoveries per tier for your own purposes, so lets argue six discoveries (three weapons, fine and masterwork). After refining, that is still 38 levels you need to grind out on garbage.

The Armour crafts are better, as you will have six items you need (up to 12 levels, twice when you include masterwork) plus refining (25 levels), but that still leaves some levels where you need to waste resources on something you do not need to get to the next tier. This equates to a full set of other gear.

Rare materials seem pretty uncommon too. I am an explorer kind of player. My highest level character has cleared all 1-15 and 15-25 zones, and already begun on the 25-35 zones. To keep that character’s crafting ability up to their level (ie the best items they can craft at at their character level), I have had to purchase materials (or spend a lot more time grinding than I already do). The average player clearly cannot do this in general play, they you would get even less materials than I do.

1) Yes, extremely petty. Perhaps in an expansion, if at all.
2) I think medium armour is generally fine. I wish the Ranger had a class-specific head-gear like thieves and engineers do, though. The generic options are more thief than ranger/engineer, in my mind.
3) I have played rangers in RPGs for 20-odd years. I have never seen a Ranger with a black-powder weapon. They are always heavily tied to the land, so tend to use natural weapons and armour. Greatswords, however, are pretty well a class standard. Anyone who is complaining in this area clearly has not got a clue what they are talking about.
4) Whether or not pets should have been the class mechanic is an argument unto itself that I will avoid. They are, and decision was made long ago and it is far too late to change anything. Anyone who does not like it either needs to get over it or roll a different class. As it stands, they are well designed and function well as a class mechanic. They need some tweaking, but so do the skills/mechanics of probably every class.

Difficulty vs. level while doing our personal stories

Two quests I had issues with:

Human Thief, lvl10, The Rescue. I initially died almost immediately to Crusher Dan, as I had not expected him to hit half as hard as he did. I defeated him with a change of utilities and tactics, but I then had constant issues with the bandits who did the spinning AoE attack. I would be hit and killed by this from way outside the visual area of this attack. Their range seemed to be twice what the visuals reflect. This seemed buggy and causes me multiple deaths.

Norn Elementalist, lvl15, Minotaur Rampant. After dozens of deaths, two complete restarts, I gave up. I came back with a friend whose Necromancer face-rolled the whole quest by himself. My first issue was the balista. It one-shotted me, and hides behind a corner. The first attempt, I was killed before I even knew what hit me. The entire strategy became `dodge the balista, ignoring the ice worms, dogs and Norns’. I could get past this by myself, but the balista definitely needs a damage reduction. When I got to the boss battle, I would be butchered every time. The Dragon constantly would go Invulnerable and heal to full, even if I did not kite it at all. By design, you cannot kill the archer until the dragon dies, but he does absurd damage to an Elementalist. My damage against the two of them was pitiful.

Outside those two, there is no question in my mind that the story missions are significantly more difficult than hearts or dynamic events. I always find them a grind, and tend to put them off as a result. Plenty of them include un-fun bits (eg Source of the Issue has you swimming in a stream, then suddenly ambushed for no apparent reason by guys waiting for you out of the water. You cannot defend yourself and take a pummeling as you move your way to the shore to even begin fighting back).

Just curious what you think of the rest pf the Beastmastery line. I keep considering it, because I want to boost my pets and the Minor Traits seem juicy, but the Major Traits look like a complete waste of points.

On that theme, what do you think of the lay out of our traits in general? Again, I feel they are a little confused in places (eg Traps in Skirmishing when Malice is in Wilderness Survival).
