Superior Runes of the Undead provide quite a lot of condition damage. 173 straight up, and 5% toughness to condition damage which should be ~80-90 if you are in full rabid gear (CondDmg*/prec/tough). So you’re out upwards of 250 or more condition damage by not using them. Of course, play style and what you are doing make a big difference in if you should be running that kind of setup.
Happens my way a lot as well, Divinities Reach is almost a black hole for my characters because of this issue. Seems that the game doesn’t have very good netcode and those of us relegated to less than perfect internet connections will get repeatedly bumped off in busier areas. Best bet is to just be persistent, you’ll eventually get in and be able to get your character out; if you have a laptop you can try logging in from a public hotspot as well.
Same issue here, except with my one character that is in Divinity’s Reach. Can log into other characters fine, but with just this one, every time the game tries and loads in it crashes out with a “can’t connect to the server” error.

Despite the fact that people can make the mesmer work doesn’t change that the mesmer is comparatively poor at PvE. There isn’t much of a good reason that one would actively choose to have a mesmer over another class when setting up a speed run dungeon group; which is pretty well what the PvE endgame currently is. Mesmer’s are slow to kill and don’t provide enough team utility to mitigate their lack of dps / slow spin up when compared to bringing along a different class.
I think a lot of people are getting tied up in the whole “if you’re not first, you’re last” mentality. The reality is that we aren’t bad at PvE, we’re just not good at it. A well geared, skillful mesmer will hold his own without issue, but will also be easily matched by most other classes playing mediocrely in a PvE setting.
