When did I say the SOLUTION wasn’t complicated? I believe I said the issue isn’t complicated.

It’s ok, send them your worthless dx reports. They’ll just say its your system.

Ashley,

I know you’ve been seeing the rage on the forums about the terrible performance on the majority of systems in the game. Why play it off like its not anets problem? People have been posting dx reports for almost a month now and we haven’t seen any updates on any of our issues. It’s not a complex issue at all!! Gw2 does not properly utilize any of our parts, which explains my 20% CPU usage.

Instead of asking for an overwhelming amount of dx reports, start posting results or give us an update Atleast!

You see,

When you you don’t set a maximum fps in GW2, either by setting it to 30 or 60 in the GW2 options menu or enabling v-sync, you’re making your GPU process more frames than what it really needs to. This problem is on all cards. Not capping your FPS – GPU processes more than it needs to – GPU gets hotter because of this – Fan speed goes up.

Hope that helps. I have the same issue…..but it really isn’t an issue.

I also have a 920@3.6ghz.

I think the game has trouble utilizing our 8 threads. It’s the games fault, not the CPUs. Don’t mess with any CPU settings or disable your threading. Trust me.

Im in class. I’ll add more to this when I’m out

That’s very weird.

What’s also very annoying is sometimes if I move my character one inch to the right my fps drops. As soon as I step back It shoots back up to 60 fps.

Is this a memory leak?

So if we disable speed step then your CPU runs at 100% all the time? Doesn’t seem healthy

Hi all,

Something has been bothering me regarding my CPU usage.

For some reason, my i7920 @ 3.6ghz never passes 15% CPU usage. What gives? My fps is ~50 but my CPU usage should definitely be higher. My system is already set to maximum performance. This game confuses me.

Hi all,

I’ve been playing gw2 since in the beta stages. Great experience for me and the performance is not hindering my enjoyment of this game at all. I would just like to know if my FPS is acceptable with the components in my system.

I built this computer with my bare hands around 4 years ago, so it’s my little baby; I take extremely good care of it and keep it under high maintenance. I don’t know whether it would be considered a low end or mid end gaming pc today, but what I do know is that it still runs strong.

Here are my specs:
GTX 295
i7 920 @ 3.6ghz
6gbddr3

Running GW2 at 1920×1080p (HD FTW!)
Settings all on high with all eye candy set to off or low ie. shadows, post processing etc.
Getting about…~40-50 fps in PvE (I cap my fps at 50 because of screen tearing) with the occasional random FPS drops in places like Black Citadel and LA.

My main concern here is my GPU usage. I noticed that when my FPS is capped at 50, my GPU usage doesn’t surpass 30%. As soon as my FPS drops to below 50, 49 for example, my GPU usage shoots all the way up to 100% and my FPS just keeps dropping.

Funny thing is that I’m able to fully max out the game in PvE (I just don’t because I’m afraid of over-heating) and still play the game, but as soon as there’s a zerg, BOOM 30 fps.

PvP gives me a huge problem and I’m not sure why. In most games, I usually get more FPS in PVP because there are less graphics to render within a small boxed area (I’m not referring to WvW). As soon as I join the Heart of the Mists my FPS drops to 30 for no reason at all. Changing my settings to high performance only gives me a 7 FPS increase. What gives here? This is all very confusing to me because there is no pattern that I can identify.

My rant here is over. I just wanted to know if my rig and the performance I’ve been getting is on key.

Note: I know, I’ve read the forums too. Please don’t kitten saying just to wait it out.

Is my system strong enough?

Hi all,

I know there has been an increasing number of posts asking this question, but I have yet to come across a post that lists my specific PC specs. I’ve been asking around in forum posts but I haven’t been getting any answer.

Anyway, I’m running :
295 GTX
i7 920 @ 3.6 GHZ
6 gbddr3
1920×1080p

I’m not sure where my system should be when running GW2. I’ve been getting a constant 50 fps in all areas of the game on high settings with all eye candy (shadows, post processing, shaders) off. The only problem is when there are a lot of people on my screen. Even if they are just standing there afking, my FPS drops to around 40. In WvW I had around 40-50 fps constant, but since the most recent update I barely reach 20 in WvW.

Going back 4 years ago, I had the most high-end computer that could of possibly been made. Even though my computer still demolishes BF3, D3, CS:GO, I’m having significant trouble with GW2. I know that the game just released and that there will be performance fixes, but still, what do you guys think my FPS should be on high settings?

Thanks!

Had GW1 since the day it released. I even played it in the beta stages many years ago. That game ran flawlessly.

GW2 on the other hand, complete trash of an engine. Honestly, what are your programmers doing to patch the game and make it WORSE than it was pre-patch.

Getting ~50 fps. Sometimes if I afk, my fps will randomly drop to 20 and stay like that for no reason at all. GPU runs at ~40% usage and CPU runs at not even 15%….I have an i7 920 CPU and you’re telling me that it only requires 15% of its power to run this game? HELL NO!

Fix yourkittenengine ANET or I’m going back to CS:GO

Remember when the 295 was an awesome card?

Yes, we all do – in fact, it still is. Well, besides in GW2, the first game which completely obliterates my 295.

Edit: Forgot to mention, my GPU usage doesn’t surpass 30%. My CPU usage doesn’t go past 20%.
I suppose I’m getting acceptable FPS for a card this old – here are my specs:

GTX 295
I7 920 @ 3.6
6 gig DDR3
Running in 1920×1080p

In PvE I get roughly a constant 50 fps on auto-selected settings. In some areas my fps drops to around mid 30’s like in the middle of LA and Black Citadel, but I really don’t care about that. What I really do care about is my performance in WvWvW.
It is terrible…completely terrible. By myself I get the constant 50 fps – as soon as I render a 50+ zerg it drops to mid 30’s. Don’t get me wrong, this is totally ‘playable’ but I was hoping for a little bit better performance. I’m used to rendering games at a constant 60+ fps so playing at an unsteady 30 fps in WvW annoys me.

For people with systems from the gtx 295 generation, are you all getting similar performance? Is this acceptable on my machine?

I7 920 @ 3.6 ghz
Gtx 295
6 gb ddr3

On auto detect settings I get a constant 30 fps. I capped it at 30 because my fps constantly changed and I couldn’t get used to it.

My i7 runs at 20% Ingame which is odd

Hopefully anet can fix this broken performance or it’ll end up like swtor.
