Taking the risk this has been said before: A big issue mentioned before with the living story was that people who can’t play for 2 weeks or more will miss out on parts of it. It’s the nature of the way the living story works/progresses and obviously you can’t please everybody. Make the pace to slow and people will complain it ain’t working, make the pace to quick and people will feel left behind.

That being said: The short cinematic at the end of this release does wonders to make people curious, however that also leaves a " void" since people will wonder what they’ve been missing and if there’s some important information to fit the pieces together. Is it an option to introduce some kind of instance/cinematic that makes people relive events past in further details?

First of all: Glad to see the general idea about this re-balancing. It makes build variety a better option for sure as well as different styles of play to come up against in combat.

Summation of high risk concerns for elementalist.

Diamond Skin
We really love this trait as it opens up some very powerful potential in the earth line to run a defensive elementalist without relying on healing power. The strength of this build is going to be the ability to quickly string small heals together to maintain that condition resistance. I think it could see use in both high damage builds looking to avoid weakness and blind, as well as in defensive builds looking to tank condition heavy classes and condition heavy mobs. I think the big question here is the base health/armor of the elementalist. Of course if you are just an elementalist you just want us to raise these, but balance must work around some fixed things and profession health and armor are an important part of defining what a profession is so that we can create powerful tools that players can actively use to circumvent these weaknesses. In this case if this trait is not powerful enough to be a grandmaster, I believe the right answer is going to be to lower the threshold, not to increase elementalist base health.

Elementalist got plenty access to armor and hp, without sacrificing that much dps. With the build I’m using I got 3.1k armor I can keep up permanently with 17k+ hp using s/f. It requires a bit of thinking out of the box perhaps to make the build work wonders, but it sure does. The change to Diamond skin is something that makes me worry though, despite I could probably make good use for it myself.

Using s/f you got obsidian flesh to negate all damage for 5 seconds already, which obviously works wonders when zergs clash for example. If you combine it with diamond skin now you can pretty much ignore the first impact, resist cc effects for a few seconds after that due to diamond skin, while causing mayhem all the time for " free", even saving 2 dodges in the process. Also the synergy with mist form is quite obvious as you wouldn’t be able to get stunned in mist form when using it at the right time.

Could it be an option to lose the diamond skin effect when transformed?

Ascended backs for wvw players

Ascended jewelry was introduced with laurels in wvw some time ago. This goes for all ascended jewelry, but backpacks. In the discussion about ascended weapons one of the dev again stated they don’t want to force wvw players into doing pve stuff to get their hands on ascended items, however the only way to get yourself an ascended back right now is exactly to do that: Do fractals

I’ll be the first to admit the difference in stats is really small compared to exotic backs, but still it is there and it’s something that wvw players can’t get their hands on right now. So my question to the dev therefore is: Will backitems be available for wvw players soon, just like the other ascended gear is, or will wvw players be forced to pve content?

There could be some easy solutions for this and no doubt some harder ones, but really: It is fixable and should be fixed to keep wvw interesting.

Some examples?
Easy solutions:
-Force people to play on servers based on their timezones (can always guest for pve afterall). This would stop the nightcapping by US timezone based people, making it an even playingfield
-Disable wvw during the servers timezone’s night (for example between 2 and 5 bst for EU servers)

Harder solutions:
-Enhance npc activity/numbers based on the amount of players from that server on the map compared to other servers. Simply create more, give them more hp, more damage or even siege usage, just to make the towers and especially the keeps still good enough defended. That will make it a lot harder to flip everything over night and would even balance between tiers if done well. That way rotating matches wouldn’t just be another server getting rolled over, but would make it challenging even when low activity.
-Stop the seperation of servers. If there is no US and EU based servers and server match-ups, but those are mixed instead you’ll see a change in activity for sure, as well as many servers with 24/7 wvw activity. Biggest concern will probably be lag based issues, but again: That shouldn’t be unfixable

I’m sure there are plenty of people who have got some idea’s how to fix it and I realise kitten #8217;s not possible to please everyone. That being said: As things are now one of the pillars of the game is getting rather pointless at some point for every server, leading to people quitting or low wvw participation. That should be reason enough to take some bold actions.

So what they are pretty much saying: We should nerf confusion so other players can continue to play mindlessly and not paying any attention to conditions on them. Fact is confusion at the moment ain’t broke at all. As long as you pay attention you can easily deal with it even in wvw. By making it so much weaker you ain’t just killing glamour builds, but also make the scepter lose much of its usefulness again. Sad news for mesmers.

1 thing I’m wondering about the rare loot: Despite most boss chests giving 1-3 rares now from chests, Megadestroyer sure isn’t giving that. Most common seems to be blues for most players. Will that boss change to a fixed rare/day/account also? Would make the fight worth it again for sure.

I’m sure others noticed the same when checking the wiki page: There appears to be very few amount of “unique” skins available from random recipes in the mystic forge.

Axes: 5
Daggers: 3
Focus: 15
Greatsword: 4
Hammer: 2
Longbow: 2
Pistols: 2
Scepter: 4
Shield: 4
Shortbow: 3 (1 haloween)
Spear: 2
Staff: 2 (incl 1 from haloween)
Sword: 7
Torch: 1

So I was wondering if the amount of skins are even (as in: if there are 4 greatsword recipes there are also 4 staff recipes, so same amount for duo handed/as well as same amount for single handed) or are there indeed more skins for particular weapons?

Knowledge about this should give a clue if further exploring the forge is even worth it.

trait 8 in the inspiration line, trait 4 in duelling line don’t affect the illusions changed in the patch anymore (should get a 20% cd reduction)

Hi,

After the latest patch Phantasmal Warden isn’t effected by Warden’s Feedback (trait 8 of the inspiration line), which should reduce it’s recharge with 20%.

Edit: Same is true for Phantasmal Swordsman with Blade training.

Dungeon Patch Discussion 9/25

Didn’t run a few days:

Yesterday: 45 tokens on up-up and forward-up
Today: 45 on up-up 30 on foward-up

Same people in squad on all occasions got the clean 60 as usual. Been like this ever since the patch and it’s coming to a point dungeons are becoming more of a frustration then a feeling of satisfaction for finishing. Given my friends get their gear with less runs while I’m still working my socks of to get it.

When running TA I keep getting less then the 60 tokens for a first of the day run of a specific route. It varies between 30 blossoms and 45 blossoms but never 60, despite all other squad members getting the full 60. Never missing a boss whatsoever it’s really frustrating to see my friends getting their gears at a much faster rate while putting the same effort in. As it stands now they’ll finish their gear at least 25% faster then I can, meaning that in order for me to catch up I’ll have to run the last 7(if not more!) TA runs while they are done and move on to the next dungeon.

Surely this can’t be the way it’s meant to be. Not alone does it kill any satisfaction on finishing the dungeon (yes it’s frustrating knowing you ain’t rewarded as intended), but it pretty much limits the options to farm dungeons with friends. Could you please look into this?

I got 45 doing forward up and 30 doing up-up earlier this afternoon. Had random numbers in squad with only 1 person getting the full 60. Buggy for sure.
