Blackgate v Gate of Madness v Yak’s Bend

The week prior GoM and Blackgate were tied in score, can you spot where the band-wagoners are?

Isn’t it possible that when BG and GoM were fighting against a superior opponent their scores were tied because they were both gettting kittened with a kitten and kitten? It’s not necessarily true that people abandoned GoM for Blackgate.

The score difference between 2 and 3 is meaningless.

Not meaningless, Crystal Desert was our 3rd party and won purely on night capping, every single day Crystal Desert would be reduced down to 3rd place fielding an extremely weak U.S primetime team ( as evident by them losing miserably against their current match up with other servers that have active A.M players). It was mostly a battle between Blackgate and GoM during P.M hours where we mostly broke even. Until the end of the week started nearing and again people jumped onto the winning team, cementing Crystal Deserts win.

After the week reset and the initial weekend seemed in favor of Blackgate due to their initially slight A.M population sneaking relatively few keeps during those night cappings, suddenly GoM has gone from partial queues to no queue times for any battleground, and Blackgate has gone from a high server at primetime to almost permanently “Full” status.

Not to add insult to injury, but the Furnace Light armor is also Priced incorrectly. it appears that the items got jumbled around in order so that Gloves and Shoulders actually have the price of Chest and Leggings.

BTW

Necros have the highest damage downstate, with the 50% increase dmg trait.

Every single class has a +50% in downed and the base damage of all downed states is overall the same (necro just looks better because of the life steal component and that poison has a minimum flat damage no matter what).

I was referring to skill 1 + skill 3 which is higher damage than any other class can do in downed state. I know that every class has the +50% trait, i was using the trait in conjunction with the affirmation that we could put people into downed from 50% health. The #3 does apply poison, but it also pulses damage to those standing in it (namely those trying to finish you), with the trait it can crit for over 1000 ontop of the #1’s constant damage.

Necros have the highest damage downstate, with the 50% increase dmg trait, we can drop absolutely anybody from 50% into downed state before they can finish us in a 1v1. (unless they are tricky thieves and mesmers doing stealth finishes)

Now, if you got destroyed and put into downstate and they still have heal up, nothing is gonna save u but the same is said about any class in that situation.

Necro weapons too weak to allow for diverse Utility use?

I’ve been having a difficult time putting my finger on what is wrong with the necro or at least how to word it but i think I’ve figured it out. Necros might be the only class where the MAJORITY of their dmg comes from their utilities instead of their weapons, effectively locking the most effective specs into using these damaging utilities.

So firstly we have the damage Necro weapons do, which is rather pathetic compared to other classes. Necros #2 on Axe and Dagger are supposed to be our major burst abilities, yet they hit for sub-3000 in full Berserker comparatively Warriors Thieves, Guardians, Rangers etc are all hitting well over 10,000 with their respective #2’s regardless of the ability being ranged or melee.

Now this is not to say Necros cannot do burst in almost equal if not higher capacity to other classes, using Well of Suffering and Well of Corruption in conjunction with dagger or axe auto attacks can produce somewhat impressive numbers. Except no other class is dependent on utilities as their main source of damage, and in fact most of their utilities modify or make using their Weapon abilities more advantageous.

Warriors don’t need a utility to use 100 blades.
Thieves don’t need a utility to pistol whip.
Mesmer’s don’t need a utility to summon phantasms and illusions
Rangers don’t need a utility to summon a pet or rapid fire.
etc etc

Yet, Necros need utility to use pets, they need separate utilities to use Wells, and again separate utilities for Condition control. It feels like Conditions are the only working weapon “utility” as we have weapons that actively apply conditions, while no other weapon incorporates anything else we are suppose to do as Necromancers. Nothing in the Necro’s arsenal of utility will make their power based attacks hit any harder, and nothing will modify how strong the pets are, as of course the pets take those slots up even if it were an option.

What we end up with is if you want to do direct damage, either you will do very little or you will use Wells. If you want to use pets, you use pets, and if you want to use conditions you must use the corresponding utilities to maintain those conditions and spread them. In the end leaving us with a realistic 1 utility slot available for customization and actual “UTILITY”. Sadly even our elites are predetermined.

Compared to a Warrior for example, you see a GS warrior, Without even having a single utility or elite the class is complete, it has everything incorporated into the weapon to make it effective in any aspect of the game, high damage and high mobility to facilitate maintaining that damage. Or a Hammer Warrior, they don’t need to have bull’s charge and kick and throw bola to be disruptive, its built into the weapon. Every utility picked adds flavor and uniqueness to that class and helps emphasis an area or counter their own weakness.

Necro do not have this freedom or the option to even try really. Look at what Necros are capable of without utilities, not much.

I feel like the problem is definitely tied to the Necros available weapons it almost feels like all of our main utility abilities should have been incorporated into our weapon attacks to begin with while allowing for other things, like actual UTILITY to be accessed from those aptly named slots instead of what are now mandatory skills.

Weapons should have a unique summon attached to them (perhaps #3 combos like thieves get).
There should be a weapon that focuses on wells
There should be a weapon that focuses on minions
There should be a weapon that focuses on conditions
There should be a weapon that focuses on life siphon
There should be a weapon that focuses on life force

I know that this sounds rather demanding but it just makes sense to me, every other class works this way, their weapons are the focus not their utilities and if it were the same for necros i believe the class in general would be in a much better place.

There’s a mechanic in the game that increases event difficulty based on how many players are present and participating in the event. Most people have probably noticed those NPC’s that seem to take forever to kill when there’s like 50 people around by now.

What if, in WvW the Keep guards and Champion, instead of scaling off the amount of attackers (which they don’t do anyway), scaled up based on how FEW defenders were at the keep defending?

To me this would not only give a nice time buffer for people to react in defending keeps but seem an easy way to slow down “Night Capping” significantly and give a hand to those few defenders that are actually awake against the Oceanic zergs (that seem keen on all transferring to the same server).

there would not no incentive for a DF type dungeon. I mean what are you gonna do, run it 60 times in Explorer mode for a different colour set of armor ?

Darkness Falls isnt a dungeon in the sense of GW2’s flavor of dungeons. Size wise, its more of just a regular zone (that happens to be a dungeon). The unique style of PvE with the threat of PvP, the content ranging from low lvl to max lvl, and the high end Raid-like bosses deep within are what kept people coming back for years.

Not to say this couldn’t backfire like it did in Warhammer Online’s “Land of the Dead” but i think WAR had a unique situation in that it was a terrible game to begin with. It seemed like they used their version of “darkness falls” as the ONLY incentive to make people want to defend keeps (which they didn’t anyway). GW2 already has plenty of incentives to make people want to stay in WvW.

Is there any plans to include a Darkness Falls (DAOC) type PvE dungeon related to WvW in the future? I think i remember reading that maybe some original DAOC devs were part of Anet for quite awhile now and was curious about their stance on a cross-world accessible mega-dungeon with WvW linking accessibility.

I can’t remember anyone from DAOC complaining about Darkness Falls in fact it was possibly one of the best things added to the game, it gave an alternate avenue to PvP and PvE while giving a purpose to wanting to take Keeps beyond gloating (or karma farming). A WvX dungeon could also quite possibly fit the niche of small group roaming that feels currently lacking in the Invisible Zerg’s these days.
