After talking with the OP in game (whispered only didn’t get to see….) I’m a bit underwhelmed by it. Lindsey, would there be anyway we can at least get an aura around cast spells similar to The Dreamers’ rainbow trails on arrows? Not like placed aoe’s (like Lava Font and Eruption on Elementalist). But right now, really looking forward to what Incinerator looks like and its effects.
2. Anet has stated previously they do not want duels (at least in PvE) but it would be nice if we could use duels for actual practice in sPvP since you can only test normal skill damage on the golems, and how to dodge, and group combat/fields on the the lord/svanir/profession npcs.
For PvE no one can tell you how to really play if you’re just solo in the world, but for dungeons, I’d have to say go staff for ranged AOE. But as for the title, a lot of Elementalist damage now comes from self combos and attunement switching.
Examples being our Finishers, Blast from Arcane Wave (utility), Earthquake and Churning Earth (earth dagger 4 and 5), Comet (water focus 5), Dragon’s Tooth and Phoenix, (fire specter 2 and 3), Eruption (earth staff 2) and Magnetic Wave (earth focus 4).
Leap from Magnetic Grasp (earth dagger 3).
Projectile from Arcane Blast (utility, and yes misleading name), Stone Shards and Hurl (earth scepter 1 at 20% chance and 2 in the second half of the sequence), and Stoning and Shockwave (earth staff 1 and 5).
Finally for finisher’s Whirl from Tornado (elite).
Blasts give AOE boons or conditions depending on the field. Leap gives auras (normally ele only but some professions can use them this way), random boons, or single target conditions. Projectile gives conditions to all enemies the projectile passes through, or regen/condition removal (from Water and Light respectively). Whirl gives the same as Projectile but to completely random targets that are in range, the “bolts” go off in straight lines in random directions. As for fields, we get fire (burning and might), water (regen), ice (frost armor and chill), and technically the only lightning field (swiftness, vulnerability and dazing). Hope this helps.
Just commented about this in my own topic. It would be nice if say, Be One With Air had this, but only if you were at the max tick for the speed increase.
Too Maguuma players, judging by the current score, the players on Tarnished Coast don’t care about you guys anymore, why don’t Maguuma and Emhry Bay start taking their stuff :P

I get Elementalists got a nerf in power, in terms of general damage output since before launch, but why is it that Elementalist’s don’t get a finish interrupt, or get a fall damage dampening trait like every other profession has? In my opinion if your opponent in sPvP or WvW has a condition, they should be unable to finish you at all as is a channeled skill and you are constantly being effected by something while the condition is up. As for the fall damage dampening, it makes some jumping puzzles next to impossible as we almost fall to our death, example being in Griffonrook Run in Lornar’s Pass, I almost died while getting to the 2nd egg, only surviving with 66 health, thanks to my Glyph of Elemental Harmony (in Air Attunement) finishing just about .7 of a second before hitting the ground.
Why must you guys be hating on Emhry Bay, we are just nocturnal is all… and we have a lot of people from Europe on our server thanks to WoodenPotatoes
I would so play this class, but 1 minor suggestion, chance Golemancy to something else, golems are specifically for Asura and the other races can’t comprehend how to construct or operate them.
character make over… I made my asura’s eyes too big and they don’t close completely when he blinks…. it creepy since we are forced to see our characters faces in the random dialogue only cutscenes.
I’ve played mostly casters so far, in live and the BWE’s and just tried the Engineer… and I love it, so much versatility. Just a bit curious on what you Engineers’ choose as your utilities.
Asura – Elementalist (main, lvl 53)
Charr – Engineer (freshly made lvl 2)
Sylvari – Thief/Mesmer (undecided)
Norn – Guardian (not made yet)
Human – Thief/Mesmer (which ever the Sylvari isn’t)

I’m having trouble connecting to the game, I was just in it, but got the guild vanished problem so i tried restarting to see if that would fix it, now I’m getting Error Code 900:1003:2:941, any suggestions?
