What the hell is it supposed to do?

I’ve think you’ve got the right idea, I don’t think people in this thread are looking at your gears.

But I wouldn’t give up lightning flash for arcane blast because S/F lacks the movement S/D has. Trait wise I’d think twice about evasive arcana instead of 20 points in water – only one good heal comes from evasive arcana and the blast finisher is harder to hit in S/F(firewall).

I don’t play mesmer, but anything that discourages shatter mesmer play and encourages condi-mesmer is bad. I don’t want another condi-meta.

Glad FA and TC are off to a wonderfully trolly start in OS.

Hey guys, with the introduction of the Obsidian Sanctum recently we’ve had much larger fight clubs with a great new host of players coming to duel. This is great and I’ve met many great people who have new and interesting builds. If you’re interested in learning new builds to play, Obsidian Sanctum is a great place to come and hone your skill.

I think a quick run-down of tips and universal rules for those of you that do not know some of these could be pretty helpful. So here’s what I’ve gathered;

1. Make sure you’ve got ample room to duel. The area can get pretty crowded, and with AoE abilities it’s easy to accidentally interrupt someone else. If you don’t think you have enough room, just wait until some space clears.

2. /bow is the universally accepted way of saying you’re ready for a duel.

3. /beckon or /point is a good way of getting someone’s attention to let them know you want to duel. In that same vein, /join and /invite while clicking on another server’s player will give them the option of letting you into their party if you wanted to chat.

4. If you’re just watching, it’s best to stay well out of the circle. There is an upper-level platform you can get on top of for viewing too. If you’re AFKing in OS, I’d suggest /sleep so someone doesn’t waste your time trying to get your attention.

5. If you see more than just a duel going on, and you’re not sure if it’s fair or not, ask your server mates if they need help before jumping in to the fray yourself.
It’s common for some guilds to set up these fights between themselves, and there’s nothing worse than having a good ole’ 5v5 ruined by an unsuspecting guy who thinks he’s doing good because “this is for dueling only”.

6. Large GvGs that take place in the OS require a lot of room. Show these guilds some respect and give them the time and space they need by backing up and staying out of the way. I don’t participate myself in GvGs larger than 5v5, but they can be very fun to watch.

7. If you want to know someone’s build, /join or /invite. Some people have some really interesting builds, but don’t be offended if they don’t want to share.

8. Keep the flaming banter to a minimum. Ya lost Raylze, better luck next time.

If anyone else has any other rules I may have forgotten, feel free to post them in the comments. Dueling is a great way to kill a couple of hours and hone your individual skill, so let’s all have a good time and keep the trolling to a minimum.

But, I’m glad Magumma is back! You guys have the best roamers to fight, the T1 guys are just downright awful sometimes.

I get it, this was a very powerful trait, it needed more of an investment in the Arcana tree to obtain it. At least we don’t need to decide between Elemental Attunement and Renewing Stamina (which would have been bad).

Wait, aren’t they putting Renewing Stamina in the Master tree, too?

Not night, afternoon, about 4pm EST. ACE rolled up on N camp three times and were taken out by equal numbers. It’s from the pic I posted when they dropped a superior ballista despite us engaging them without the guards.

this is funny.

ballistas are great ways to draw you guys out so you don’t fight on your fully upgraded camp. we didn’t use our ballista, and you still had a lowbie man yours.

that’s my favorite bit. SIC and RET (ACE had 6 people on map we don’t take credit for that glory) wipes you guys without siege, while your zergs set up open field arrow carts.

Oh that’s rich. Glad to see TC complaining about a non-existent doubleteam. Oh that brings me happiness.

More great fights tonight – hoping FA can scrounge up some points to finish up the week, I would really like to stay in T2. Rolling T3 just isn’t nearly as much fun.

Absolutely – this week has been a blast.

GODS rolled the KN and TC zergs in EB too many times to count tonight. Most memorable was the one at Durios – wiped KN, turned around ad wipe TC. Thanks for the loot guys!

Hopefully my three friends and I didn’t cause too much trouble for TC at north camp in TCBL. Well I know we did, but hot kitten thanks for the badges guys. Looking forward to the kills tomorrow.

The ram gods have spoken. Death to Magumma BL!

I can promise Magumma that FA is not purposely double teaming you guys. We go where the fight is. My guild was in DB and FA BL for most of the day.

After a couple weeks of playing my ranger, I can definitely say that Shortbow and Longbow have become a fast favorite. I’m mostly a WvW player, so LB brings the ranged pain that most fights call for. Eagle Eye trait is almost necessary – that extra 300 feet is amazing.

Obviously, Longbow lacks in its 1 skill, but coupled with quickness, Rapid Fire and the Vulnerability are deadly in PvP. I can do 10K damage in short periods of time, and switch to my SB for sustained damage.

Great night to be playing in Magumma BL. Plenty of fun to be had. Looking forward to the rest of the week!

It’s important to note every class has perks and you should bring every class to a fight.

From the barriers that Guardians provide to the blast finishers that Warriors have, there is so much diversity between the two classes. You won’t find a definitive answer here, only people telling you to just bring both – because they’re both useful.

Just to note, there is a hacker in FA’s midst.

Ele using perma stuns with some kind of item, this chase lasted for a kitten long while.

Yeah, that guy’s a guildie. Pretty sure he isn’t a hacker, he just lives for fighting solo against multiple people in WvW. He has a few youtube vids

I was there as well. There was absolutely hacking going on. Two elementalists getting back into the same tower and bailing – twice while I was there, and at least another two times while guildies were watching after I left. There were no portals, and we had full presence the whole time.

It was ridiculous.

For crying out loud. This is Tier 3. Everyone knows there’s hackers. Vid them, report them, and SHUT UP ON THE FORUMS.

Nothing at all is gained by the whines…

But it’s not actually hacking. He has linked me the gadgets that he uses – tens of different ones and hundreds of them – stuff like Ash Legion Spy kits, there are more of them than you know of. Watch the videos linked, it’s for real – he’s just a phenomenal player.

It’ll be a good match, I’m glad we’re back in T3. I have a feeling TC and Kain will duke it out for a spot in T2 with a rotating list of T1 guilds. And maybe us FA’rs will get the practice we need to move up eventually.

But T3 is where we belong right now – you guys give us the best challenges. Rolled plenty of teams today(especially from a guild called WAR from Magumma, really rocked their day when it was an even match.)

I felt like I played well and I’m really looking forward to this week. Have fun on the field everyone!

We’re getting absolutely rolled by TC and BG now. I’d say FA needs more coordination throughout the three borderlands. Hopefully our night crew can pick it up.

Gotta say there were some great fights today. Can’t stress enough how frustrating it was to see some hacking going on at Dreaming Bay/Garrison earlier, but it’s still our point lead. Finally with an oceanic presence I can get off and not worry we’ll lose everything over night.
