Hello folks!

Commander Duke Witherheart here! I’m an officer and commander in the Gunnar’s Hold guild [RPS] and in August I held the fantastic Strike on Southsun.

And it was pretty successful.

Now every PvE farmer and their aunt is killing the Legendary Karka Queen on a daily basis, thanks to ArenaNet recently buffing the rewards for doing so. It would be easy to just repeat an attack on Southsun Cove, but I like to keep things slightly original!

So we’re going to go walkabout, rampaging across the Shiverpeaks in a four hour feista while we travel from Hoelbrak to Mount Maelstrom. This time, our target will be the Megadestroyer residing in the depths of the volcano.

Strike on Southsun exceeded my expectations immensely thanks to the support of [RPS] and the wider Guild Wars 2 community. Will March to Mount Maelstrom be as profitable?

Where and when do we meet up?

Hoelbrak, 5PM (that’s GMT – so 6PM if you’re British) on Saturday the 28th! Just come to my commander tag there and then.

Never been there before? You can get there using the asura portal located in Lion’s Arch!

Do I need anything?

A good attitude and a fighting spirit (again)!

We will be using Gunnar’s Hold Mumble.

Since we’ll be doing some fairly high-end PvE then coming on your highest level character may help you survive a little better. Empty your inventory beforehand too – we’re in for a lot of loot!

Where are we going?

To Mount Maelstrom!

Yes, we are running from Hoelbrak to Mount Maelstrom. I predict the route to look something like the first attachment to this post!

What are we doing?

I want for us to try and take down the Megadestroyer. We will also be doing PvE events while travelling through the zones on the way, so this could be a good chance for you to pick up some world completion in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Timberline Falls and Mount Maelstrom.

We’ll be taking a fairly leisurely pace, also killing champions as we go.

Do I need to do anything?

Not really – just turn up!

But if you’re nice I’d appreciate if you could post in this thread to let me know if you’re coming. We managed to get a turnout of about 90 people for the Strike on Southsun – and that’s down to the support of you kind folks! I’ll also be posting this on my blog too.

Please feel free to message me in-game on Duke Witherheart if you have any questions. Feel free to bring your friends but don’t worry if you come alone – we’ll have people to guide you on the night.

PS: If we still have big numbers by the end of the night, we might revisit Southsun Cove, so please make sure you at least have a few waypoints there.

Hello again!

With my blog approaching 150 posts quickly, I thought I’d give a little update and plug some of the more interesting entries that have appeared over the past month.

If you’re looking for big, juicy posts to sink your teeth into, then I recommend you check out some of my after action reports. My adventures in WvW have proven so successful recently that I’ve had to post a few tasty two-parters. If you’re not familiar with the workings of WvW then it might be worth checking out this fantastic video introduction to that aspect of the game.

My long articles have caused quite a stir: There was one where I argued the pros and cons of actually having commanders in WvWvW, along with another with my reactions to the Future of Guild Wars 2.

On the other hand, sometimes I just like to mess around in the game and not take things too seriously. As Dragon Bash wound down, I had the opportunity to express my thoughts on the great Dragon Ball activity. Additionally, during a day off work, I loaded up on tonics and… pretended to be a hylek for a bit.

Of course being on Tumblr I have made a few… casual posts. My most popular one so far has been this nifty video of a few necromancers running around in WvW, followed up with this strange image album. That’s joined by this pretty AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! tribute.

I’m an officer and commander in the Gunnar’s Hold guild [RPS]! Now I enjoy WvW as much as the next person, but what also really can be fun is random PvE events!

Especially if they involve the slaughter of karka!

As such, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together as a community and go kill things. It’s not often that the EU side of the game gets a big event, so take this as an opportunity to farm mobs outside of the Crown Pavilion!

Our target is Southsun Cove, and our goal is taking down the Legendary Karka Queen.

The last time I held an event like this was back in May this year and I hope to repeat the success of that evening. Except… bigger! And more successful!

Oh, wait a second! I’ll be posting this on Reddit and maybe even on my blog too. I’m thinking that, if we get enough numbers, we may visit Orr after Southsun. If we get HUGE numbers, it would be nice to actually cleanse a temple (or three!).

If we get a crazy big zerg, we’ll hit up the Temple of Melandru so make sure you’ve visited the basic parts of Cursed Shore first. At the very minimum, you should have Fort Trinity explored because, depending on time, we might decide just to regroup there and steam across Orr.

So my name is Krathor, also known as Duke Witherheart. Some of you might already know this, but in case you don’t…

…I have my own blog chronicling my adventures in the GW2 world!

I thought I’d mention it here too, because I know that some of you may be interested – although it’s not exactly a specific screenshot or fan art – it’s lots of ’em!

I’ve already been mentioned by the lovely Cara Ellison in her recent Guild Wars 2 post on Rock, Paper, Shotgun and I figured that there must be other folks interested in reading about my adventures!

Most entries are written from my perspective – that is, an officer in one of the largest guilds on our sweet server of Gunnar’s Hold. I’m also a commander in WvWvW so I often see action smiting our enemies and then I write about it. Between the re-posts of pretty screenshots, I write lengthy and picture-filled war stories, recall experiments with some of the game’s more… novel features and find ways to entertain myself.

If that sounds appealing, then I strongly suggest you check it out!
