I’m Duke, and together with the guild [RPS], we hold open PvE events for the GW2 community. They’re usually about roaming the world together, participating in dynamic events, killing champions, conquering mini-dungeons, and throwing ourselves through jumping puzzles. Hundreds of people attend them, and we have fun on Discord and Dubtrack.

Our last event, the Starting Zones Spectacular, was very successful thanks to the help of the community and ArenaNet. You can see some screenshots from it here:

Recently, we’ve been holding surveys following our events to gather feedback on what people thought of them. Attendees are always very positive… but we consistently receive one question from outsiders:

“What’s the point in these events!?”

Well, if you’re one of those people… then you’re going to love Saturday!

Next week, we’re setting out from the Silverwastes, killing the Vinewrath there, and then moving on to run the Dragon’s Stand meta. We have the commanders. We have the Discord server. We have the drive to kill the Mouth of Mordremoth.

All we need is you!

So if you’re on EU servers, have a well-geared level 80, and access to Discord, alongside the starting waypoints in the Silverwastes and Dragon’s Stand, then come along and get some loot!

We start in the Silverwastes at 19:00 UK time (that’s 18:00 GMT, or 20:00 CEST). From there, we’ll gather into squads, take down the Vinewrath, and head over to Dragon’s Stand for the meta at 20:30 UK time.

Message me directly on Duke Witherheart at 19:00 UK time on Saturday 3rd June for an invite to the right instance and a link to our Discord channel. You’ll be assigned a squad from there.

If you’ve never done either of the big events in the Silverwastes and Dragon’s Stand before, don’t worry. Our commanders will explain everything on the night – so long as you can at least listen in on Discord. Expect a casual, (hopefully) stress-free atmosphere.

I’m Duke, and I’m from the EU guild Rock, Paper, Signet [RPS]. We hold cool PvE events together for the wider community, but it’s been a while since our last one (mega awesome screenshots here!).

On Saturday the 28th, we’re going to be holding another romp across Tyria – open to anyone who wants to come and have fun.

Starting in a special place in Southsun Cove, we’ll be travelling around the world, unearthing some of the secrets and Easter eggs scattered along the way. We’ll also be taking on a world boss or two, alongside a few jumping puzzles. The main aim is to have a chill time while highlighting some of the awesome, hidden things you may have missed.

The event will last around two hours, and we’ll finish with farming the many metas in Bloodstone Fen.

We’ve been doing this sorta thing for three years, but we still see new faces at every event. So long as you can get on EU servers (including trial accounts), you can attend.

We’ll be using Discord for voice chat, and Dubtrack for our music. Links to both servers will be given on the day.

Simply bring a level 80 with decent world completion to Southsun Cove on Saturday the 28th at 16:00 GMT (17:00 for most of Western EU) and have fun. If you don’t fall into the right Southsun Cove instance by default, just message me directly on Duke Witherheart (Krathor.9514) for a squad invite.

Alternatively, you can join using the LFG tool (Open World > Central Tyria – Squads > Hidden Treasures of Tyria).

EVERYONE IS WELCOME - Just prepare for ‘amazing’ jokes!

With under a week to go, just popping by to say have a great time Saturday!

Oh, about a million?

Hi there!

Did you know new characters start with one waypoint in every race’s starting area? That means you can roll an asura in Metrica Province, but instantly teleport over to Caledon Forest if you wanted to. Or Queensdale. Or Plains of Ashford. Or Wayfarer Foothills.

Cool, huh?

But what’s more, ArenaNet limit what other, higher level zones free-to-players can access right off creation, gating content to ensure unexperienced newbies can’t stumble through portals to guaranteed death.

This gives us an opportunity to hold a PvE event based around all the awesome things found in the starting areas, skipping over all the boring stuff and focusing on nice event chains, mini-dungeons, jumping puzzles and world bosses. If you’ve wanted to roll a new character following Heart of Thorns but haven’t had the opportunity, or wish to avoid the grind of playing somewhat solo, here’s a good opportunity to create a new one and breeze through the early levels.

They’ll be no slow, plodding focus on ensuring everyone completes a certain heart or grabs a specific vista though. These will be fast-paced, somewhat rowdy invasions of each area – with focus on the fun stuff.

It’s extremely easy to join; all anyone needs to do is make a free-to-play account, join an EU world, and make a new character. Then complete the tutorial, waypoint to Caledon Forest, whisper me (Duke Witherheart) for a taxi to the right instance.

A review of the world boss schedule leads me to suggest the following:

Caledon Forest (Jungle Wurm at 19:15) -> Wayfarer Foothills (Svanir Shaman at 20:15) -> Plains of Ashford (moving at 21:15) -> Queensdale (Shadow Behemoth at 21:45) -> Metrica Province (Fire Elemental at 22:45).

As for what we’ll do in the meantime? Well it’ll be whatever takes our fancy!

It’ll be a long night, but feel free to drop in and out as you please. You can whisper me on Duke Witherheart for a status update or taxi at any time.

IN SUMMARY: On Saturday 5th December, roll a new character and join us in Caledon Forest at 18:00 GMT for fun stuff. No other requirements.

Good reasoning. I play sPvP regularly but know I would never have a shot at the llama through a tournament, mainly because I’m just so busy with everything else in life.

Howdy!

It’s been a while since our last big PvE event, Marching Orders. The last one was a rampage across the world before finally taking down Vinewrath. It was pretty successful and it’s time for another along the same lines. This aims to be another fantastic journey across the land, tackling some of the biggest challenges the game currently has to offer.

What’s different about this PvE event?

If you’ve not attended one of our ‘big’ events before, then pay attention: Myself (Duke) and my guild (RPS) hold huge PvE events that are open to pretty much everyone. We usually pick a location in Tyria then trek through the land, taking down bosses, events, jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons on the way.

If you missed our last one in March, click here to see what you can expect.

For our recent events, we’ve split the playerbase into separate zergs so people don’t get locked out by large map instances. That ends with this event though; it’s time for us to group together once again and charge across the landscape.

Won’t that cause some people to be locked out of the instance?

Maybe. We managed to cram everyone into one Silverwastes map at the end of Marching Orders and I’m hoping we can do the same for the entire event here. If we really, really have to then we’ll make an overflow army too.

What’s the plan?

Start at Fort Trinity in Straits of Devastation at 5PM GMT (that’s 6PM in Britain) on 6th June and head north. Kill Tequatl and take on the Triple Trouble meta event.

At this stage I’m saying we only kill one Wurm head together, as achieving all three takes a considerable amount of coordination that we’ll likely not get out of the fun-loving frolickers that join these events.

We’ll finish up in Dry Top, as it’s pretty underplayed; we covered the Silverwastes last time; we can probably hit the top tier; and I know people want to revisit it!

As mentioned above, we’ll surely find some more random things to tackle en route too.

What do you need?

Nothing really – just turn up at Fort Trinity at 5PM GMT and enjoy the ride. We’ll be using Mumble for voice antics (although it’s not a necessity) and details will be given out on the night.

There’s no level requirement; if you’re feeling lucky you can turn up with a level 5.

Unfortunately you do need to be in the EU in order to play with us.

What if I turn up to Fort Trinity and no one is there?

Simply whisper me (Duke Witherheart) in the game and I’ll get you a taxi across the the correct map.

It’s mainly because we now have access to a huuuuuuuuge Mumble server, which should serve better if we have loads of folks coming along. Plus, I think Mumble seems to work better for more people (less system resources).

Who are you and what is this!?

I’m Duke and on Saturday the 28th at 6PM GMT, my guild and I are hosting one of the biggest community PvE events GW2 has ever seen. We’ve held quite a few in the past, recent examples being the Stream Watching Party and Battle of the Five Armies. We’re good at what we do and look forward to hosting this next gathering.

Sounds cool, what’s going on?

The Pact has been shattered following the events in at the end of the second season of Living World. I challenge each of the Orders of Tyria to prove their worth. Priory… Whispers… Vigil… – now’s the opportunity to show your pride and participate in a great adventure.

Armies of the three Orders are starting out from each of their HQ zones, travelling across the land and completing challenges. This time though, we’re setting up some special tasks outside of the usual world bosses and jumping puzzles.

Each of the armies has a commander, deputy and assistant. I’ll also be flitting between each of the armies on the night to ensure everything is going smoothly.

How do I join?

That’s the simple part: Pick an Order and head down to the zone of their HQ – whether it be Lornar’s Pass for Priory, Bloodtide Coast for Whispers or Gendarran Fields for Vigil.

Once there, you need to whisper the relevant person to get you a taxi into the correct map:

- Priory: Vlupius Primus
- Whispers: Cybek
- Vigil: Biscuit Weevil

If you have any problems, feel free to contact me directly on Duke Witherheart, regardless of Order.

You’ll group up into parties with your fellow participants and head out on a quest like no other.

Any restrictions?

Yes – but only a few!

First, feel free to come on any character you like – of any level. It doesn’t matter if you’re level 8 or 80, because we run through Tyria without using waypoints, you won’t need to have done any world completion beforehand. Moreover, you will likely be carried along by the zerg anyway. This means that you can come even if you’ve technically not got to the Order stage of your Personal Story yet!

However, we do ask that you switch to a level 80 if possible towards the end, as we venture into the Silverwastes for the night’s conclusion.

Second, please note that this is in the EU only. Sorry US friends.

Mumble?

Yes, we will be using Mumble and will give out the server details on the night.

OK so we’re setting off at 18:00 GMT, but when will it end?

After a trek across Tyria, we’re thinking of combining all of the zergs in the Silverwastes at the end, around 10PM GMT.

Well for this Saturday’s Stream Watching Party, I’m glad to announce we do have a guild volunteering to take ownership on the other side of the Atlantic!

Obviously I can’t personally guarantee the success of the NA equivalent but do know it should be loads of fun. I therefore strongly recommend you give Sometimes Y a whisper on Saturday and join in.

Well it’s almost two months since we hosted the ridiculously successful Battle of the Five Armies. Given the forthcoming announcement from ArenaNet I thought this would be a good opportunity for to host a smaller gathering.

‘Forthcoming announcement!?’ I hear you cry, ’what’s that!?’

Well… er… click here.

So yeah, the consensus reached by the community is that this announcement on the 24th will be something to do with an expansion. Or ArenaNet’s version of an expansion. It should be good, the community’s hyped and the entire thing will be streamed. Hence, event opportunity.

What is it?

Well these events tend to be pretty funny and Twitch chat will likely be terrible to get involved in, so why don’t we hold our own chat!? With TEAMSPEAK!?

When is it?

Official site says 10:30 CST, which Google tells me is 16:30 GMT. Thinking we’ll gather 30 minutes early to ensure everyone is set up and not still joining TS while we watch it.

Where is it?

Hosting in Hoelbrak. Battle… showed that city is pretty low populated and it’s a more party atmosphere than Black Citadel (sorry charr).

We’ll probably hit up Sparkfly for Tequatl afterwards because… why not!?

TeamSpeak will also be used and we’ll be watching the stream of the announcement on Twitch.

What are we doing?

Watching the stream of ArenaNet’s next big announcement during PAX South. In the game, we’ll be interacting with other members of the community, getting drunk and dancing.

Also jokes on TeamSpeak. Lots and lots of jokes.

I’m aware that this may turn out to be pretty chaotic, but we’ve had over 200 people in a single TeamSpeak channel before and discussion has remained (fairly) tame. I just thought this would be a cool thing to try together.

After, we’ll kill Tequatl and some other dragons.

How do I join?

Turn up at Hoelbrak at 16:00 GMT and message me directly on Duke Witherheart for a taxi if you’re not in the right map.

Open to EU players only - but I guess the US folks could join us on TeamSpeak if you whisper me.
