..oh and FYI, personally, it’s INSANITY to have not launched this game with mounts. Running is ridiculous, it’s a game. Make it fun. If it supposed to be real, then how many of you would actually run around…most can’t make it up a flight of stairs without passing out..

Mounts. Next patch. Thanks.

Kids, listen.

Mounts are the one thing that will seperate a flourishing MMO from a niche MMO. Period.

Every.single.whiny.complaining.elitist that doesn’t want mounts is MAYBE, .05% of the entire population of the game. MAYBE LESS.

The rest of us, that will actually make or the games success wants mounts. If ANet intended to make an MMO for the masses they’ll implement mounts. If they know what I know and that this games “iPhone Shiny!” will wear off in 6 months like all other MMOs that have failed to do what is required to make a long lasting, successful MMO, then they won’t bother with it, becuase they know it’s dead by February. This will appeal to the MUCH LARGER crowd that don’t flex kittens in gear, pvp, pve etc.

So, what have we learned kids? Shhhh.. you’re the minority. Mounts need to be implement, if they don’t then, well. On to the next MMO for 2-3 months, and then rinse and repeat. It’s quite easy.

Again, I need to remind you because you’ve already ignored it once. Those of you that DO NOT want mounts. are 0.5% of the entire population or LESS. You don’t matter, nor to you count. Shh..

Most populated Server

Yep, it’s that question again. Mines “fairybang” or some such name, not sure. Doesn’t matter. It’s usually pretty empty. I’ll maybe 10-15 players at most.

Which server should I move to before the merge? Is there a site that has population stats? This would a be big help, tired of playing solo-MMOs.

Any suggestions would be a big help! Thanks!

The real worry: is buying Gold ever going to be worth it?

The only game I’ve seen where there is ZERO gold selling is the Secret World. The game is simply genius. The best MMO on the market today, sadly they didn’t purchase a higher rating from Metacritic so everyone thinks it’s terrible without playing it.

The currency in that game is Pax Romana. Its’ abundant, easy to get and it’s, wait for it.. completely useless as from a few things here and there you farm for 10 minutes or run a dungeon and have what you need.

Unless you base your currency system around fluffy stuff, minor additions, then it’s going to be exploited.

I can already see my need to get gold and working for it…no thanks. I want to have fun playing the game. I have a job I get paid for it too. Well.

Once I hit level 80 if I find that I need to have RIDICULOUS amounts of gold, (I.E. TERA, WORST GAME EVER CREATED ON US SOIL) then I’ll quit. Easy as that.

So far, after 23 levels, I have 86 copper.. LOL really? Doesn’t ArenaNet need that more that I do? Can I mail it to them somehow? Where are the money drops? I’m pretty nervous about this.

Something does not add up with this post…

First off TSW failed because it is niche and it is Funcom… Everyone that played AOC saw that name and wrote it off immediately.

Secondly I can go into game right now and hit like 3-4 nodes (any node lvl does not matter) and sell that for more coin than you have. I could also complete a few hearts and get a little extra coin mailed to me seconds after completion. You do know about that right? What game are you even playing? I have 10g at lvl 73 and I just play the game with its natural flow.

Oh no no, maybe you’re not aware of The Secret World. It’s a fantastic game. It’s certainly far from dead too. It’s a far more mature crowd. Older players. Most of us have grown up and moved from the era of World of Warcraft and the general overtone of “Dungeons and Dragons” with swords and wizardry.

It introduces a very different concept, which most of the younger player base can’t adapt to because they’re naturally resistant to change. It’s bred into everyone to fight it. Leaving ones comfort zone is terrifying, until you grow up.

Now that’s clear to you, the gold, is well. There isn’t any. Each quest provides less than 15 copper at 23, very useless. Quite useless to the point that I don’t even look. The only thing I spend money is to travel. Which is stupid in terms of the concept since it doesn’t actually them anything to teleport me. Does Southern California Edison control GW2 powergrid ingame? I think not.

I don’t work, I play. Perhaps when I hit level 73 I will have 10 gold as well. 100 gold would better until the young elitist scumbags inflate everything out of porportion.

This game is a cheap, free to play game. It shouldn’t really try to be anything bigger. Hey it’s better than Rift, without the Rifts actually. It’s got my attention for a few more months then it’s on the next best thing.

Something from a company that can afford to use DirectX 11 and hire talent to utilize it like FunCom did with The Secret World. Gorgeous game. Yes I play both. Thanks.

Your level, class, and happiness rating 1-10

8/10

Hideous Rift style armor designer has been hired by ANet. Female armor is abysmal for all classes.

This is a big one, since males are visual beings, I don’t like looking at “Ugly”

More exposure, push the envelope. Tera did it, does it quite well. Minus the 8 year old girls of course. don’t need that garbage.

Heh, I just purchased the regular digital edition and paid this homeless guy near Starbucks in Anaheim, $14.99. He’s got a lot of work to do and doesn’t even know it.. he was grateful though. Money motivates people to do great things. It’s bee proven through out history.

A great attitude doesn’t feed your family. Never will.

The thoughts of a first time MMO-er

Esus. I completely feel your pain. The MMO industry has taken a huge turn for the worse in recent years.

My first MMO as in 2005 with the launch of The Matrix Online. This back during a time when social networking was “new” a myspace was incredibly popular. Apple hadn’t ruined small children’s intellect and America was safe from “foreign attacks” and fear mongering.

People were happier back then. My wife (at the time) played World of Warcraft as it was the biggest thing since Apple invented the color white and the 4 cardinal directions.

The mind set is this in an MMO.

1.) I am to powerful.
2.) I can do anything solo and I don’t need help because I’m amazing
3.) People HATE VENTRILO, MUMBLE, SKYPE (Except the younger crowd of course)
4.)Elite players, (that which has no life) will have nothing to provide meaning to their life if you don’t make a mistake, therefore, since no one is perfect, most people avoid the the elite level 80 players and groups so they don’t feed the spoiled brats.

5.) Most important, it has always and WILL ALWAYS take WAAAAY too long to find a group of players. Spamming the phrase "LFG <Dungeon name here> need tank, healer blah blah blah.> Sucks.

So they hid in this game with self heals. awesome. That doesn’t mean anything really. Now people will do less damage, and/or kill themselves more often. With no clear leader (The tank) most people will wander off in any direction. Most people need to be told what to do and where to go. Hence my Apple reference above, no matter how utterly obviously wrong and outdated it is, people do as they’re told. They crave it.

For the rest us free thinkers, we’re only a handful in everygame, this is usually where we get off.

I"ll play for another couple months, hit level 80, get full gear (hopefully, depends on how many Elites are in my way to prevent this from happening) and I’ll quit.

MMO’s have an average shelf life of 6 months before the shiney wears off and they’re history.
World of Warcraft ruined the entire genre and for that nothing will really be popular for a long, long , long time to come.

Companies will keep making them, and this whole F2P model will fade into the background as people that want quality updates and patches, will pay monthly subs to get it, the idea of “Cheap” games will sink it and people will realize that “You get what you pay for.” In a F2P play game, that’s nothing.

We’ll see.

So Esus, you’re not alone. It’s common. It’s going to take years for it to be fixed.
