To be honest: Despite being only 8 active members we got 7 full exotic geared Mesmer ready for WvW
Yesterday it should’ve been me playing the “blonde” mesmer
Setup for yesterday was Guardian, Mesmer, Mesmer, Engi since Zumy is all in for PvE nowadays
At this point it is useless trying to talk to anti-thief people. You can exain all day how to beat thief and all you get is “why should I have too”. Why should oh have too? Have to what use the skills given to you in the game to counter other players in a pvp situation? Come on!
Explain me how to beat a semi-decent p/d thief as a mesmer. Well lets say a rather good p/d thief who generally doesn’t do stupid mistakes.
Next you can explain me how to beat him as a warrior. :P I also challenge you to not just explain, but also to prove that your explain is correct (duel a p/d thief who is known to be very good).
I don’t play a Mesmer you would need to find someone who does. I also don’t run p/d or d/d on my thief. I use sword/dagger and short bow (when I play it. running necro at the moment )
But my buddy runs a condition Mesmer and eats p/d for lunch but has a hard time with d/d. On my axe/focus power necro I eat d/d well having a harder time with p/d. It’s a bit of give in take with builds.
Please, a condition mesmer doesn’t stand a smallest chance against p/d. P/d thief has probably the best condition removal in the game. P/d can also play very passively, which means that he can’t be forced to take ticks from confusion, which is 95% of condition mesmers damage.
Guess u underestimate the Mesmers Dueling lvl 15 Minor Trait…
Shortbow is used for utility.
Porting up ledges and cliffs is just epic

P/D Thieves usually run or dodge into your direction. Just hit dodge the moment he’s in range for CnD…. It should force him to use Shadow Refuge.
Otherwise most Thieves dont even try to use CnD on your Phantasms or Illus. So just don’t use a shatter skill unless you have a clear opportunity. Your Phantasms will re-target him as soon as he leaves his stealth and unload their full channel/attack/whatsoever on him, even if he was only visible for 0,1 seconds
General:
- Use Sigil of Paralyzation (Also works for Dazes)
- Shortbow as second weapon set
- Go for Shadow Refuge and Shadowstep
- For Elite i usually run Thieves Guild
For WvW:
- Use a mixture of Berserker and Valk Gear
- 10/30/30/0/0 gives you some nice stayability
- Use Master Maintenance Oil
- Use Omnonberry Ghosts
- Go for Signet of Shadows
for tPvP:
- Use Knights Amulet or Zerker Amulet depending on your deeds
- For Traits u can go a lot of Specs.

Thieves are far from fine.
Its facepalmingly bemusing why ANET haven’t dealt with them yet – a 5 year old could tell you that:
- near permanent untargetable invisibility plus
- insane burst damage (5-6k steal, 5-6k cnd, 6-14k backstab) all in < 2s from invisibility plus
- as many get out jail free cards as you like plus. The mobility also makes up for medium armor and lowest healthpool in the game.
- crazy kitten mobility (bouncy bouncy heartseeker spam for 6k crits)Its too much. Far too much.
1. Near Permastealth = No Damage
2. Only if everything crits and you are too dumb to use a stunbreaker, dodge the steal or you didnt see it coming
3. So… He’s running away = u won
4. The dps on heartseeker is way lower than the dagger #1 chain. It’s only useful for gapclosing since the Animation can be dodged quite easily

@Lonny It was just 5 of TDA there , on your first encounters , then we got some more people and a lvl 5 mesmer
(we dont require ppl to play certain class/build just bring what you like)
Later on we had 8 people as we tried to play some with Kiss then for about 10 mins it was 10 people , i liked the 3 way on ruins with you and kiss
Such a shame you relly on heavy stealth wich causes some of culiing to triger as well.
Hehe. We don’t rely on heavy-stealth, but Mass-Invis is still the best Elite-Utility to have since we usually can’t afford to stay in place for 10 seconds to make use of the quickness-bubble

@PUZ: What was your group-size yesterday? The first time we encountered you, it looked like 7 or 8 people. Shortwhile after it looked like 10-12?!

Had some fun fights vs TTA or TDA (can’t remember the exact Guild-Tag. The Guild with the yellow armors). One of your Guards gave us a really hard time

Why are you creating a video about a build which is well known for 5 months now?!
Everyone who is half-decent will simply kill you without taking a hit from you… The only real opportunity you have is to add fights

Wrong. SPvP has a completely different environment from WvW. Decreasing damage will only mean people will stack more in order to compensate. The reason WvW damage may seem high is because when 30 people just spam their attacks, whoever gets caught in that, dies. If you participated in smaller fights, you will notice that damage isn’t that high and certainly can be handled by anyone who knows what they’re doing.
What we need in WvW is to increase AoE damage by uncapping the number of targets an AoE can hit.
I am not against zergs as such, they’re natural after all, but people running in zergs need to be taught a very simple lesson – if you run around all nicely clustered up like a bunch of rabid chickens, a 5-man ambush team will kill you all.
Then we might actually see some tactics in zerg gameplay, like forward scouts, pickets and so on. And yeah… fewer blobs.

Had some fun fights yesterday evening
Seems like IC tries to run in smaller groups.
I didn’t want to sound like a redneck…
Usually we can provide 5 players per evening.
So we are fine with XvX for x <= 5
Just give Zumy, ReqX or me a Whisper.
It depends on the Mesmer weapon choices.
If your mesmers are rocking Sword/Pistol + Greatsword if would prefer a d/d-ele as peeler.
If your mesmers are using Sword/Pistol + Staff they are almost uncatchable thus favoring the warrior.
Edit: Another Plus for the Warrior is the ability to provide constant DPS on a zone of downed people. Being outnumbered the downed State becomes a serious issue.

Not too far away from reality
We usually run 2 Guards, 2 Mesmer + X
It seems like the culling issues are dependant on overall server load. Some days you can play more or less without bigger issues and on other days ist just a pain in the kitten #8230;
We don’t wanna grow any further.
We actually want to play the game and not to worry about things like guild structure, guild ranks, permissions, drama and so on
We got plenty of Thieves. Thieves are cool when you are fighting even numbers. But in a small group setup and being constantly outmanned every other class does a better job.
Thieves got no group support (Mass Invis is superior to Shadow Refuge) and are lacking AoE, Sustained damage and their burst intervals are too long.
That’s not the point. We would love to engage 5v30. It’s challenging and feels pretty good to win those fights
It’s not about being engaged on unprepared. It’s about the culling issues. You need proper positioning, have to use blind spots and uncovered space to win those fights. But if you are only able to see like 30 to 50 percent of your enemies the alleged enemy blind spot you blinked into turns out to be a death trap.
Guess I’m gonna play tPvP until ANet fixes culling and rendering issues.

It all depends on your definition of powerful.
In terms of boosting score i would name nightcapping-guilds like RUIN.
In terms of annihilating zergs guilds like Red Guard, Dius and Druckwelle come to mind.
In terms of inidividual player skill and small-scale-combat I would name BNF and Bookah. (Would also name my guild if it was political correct
)

Although I received some Hate-Whispers from Far Shiverpeak and Augury Rock players for Stealth-abusing =(
that warrior was kitten lucky he actually knocked you down
