I kill Diamond/Legendary Tempests every day…
If I kill the unkillable…what does that make me?
And with how many other people on your side? 3v1/4v1 at diamond/legendary, yeah they’re gonna go down. At lower ranks maybe not. 2v1 happens occasionally. I’ve never seen anybody other than a thief 1v1 an even halfway decent tempest, and it doesn’t happen regularly because it requires an element of stealth (which, admittedly, the thief is built for but is still situational).
Assuming equal skills of all players involved no class should be able to consistently 2v1 any combination of other classes, and even a highly skilled player should not be able to 3v1/4v1 mediocre players of any other class combination reliably.
Those posts by lucred have to be trolling. If they’re not, please direct me to where I can see this 25k go, perma stab, Merc ammy with cleric runes and still cleanses everything build in action, because it sounds like fun.
I was a little high on my health estimate. With the current meta/rune of the grove/carrion amulet I’m sitting at 20,645 health. 2 stacks of stability swapping to earth attunement (7 seconds on effectively a 2 second cooldown), plus an additional 4 seconds of stability from Harmonious Conduit every overcharge. So basically 2 stacks of “permanent” stability. And auto cleanse every 10 seconds plus a cleanse every time I’m hit.
Seems pretty EZmode to me.
you shouldn’t have to kill them to take the point back.
Have you heard about knockbacks? Legend says they are very effective against auramancer and druids.
Have you heard about stability? Or the fact that an ele has basically permanently 3 stacks of it?
There aren’t many builds that have 3 knockbacks or pulls on short enough cooldowns to work, and at least 2 of those builds are extremely sub-par for PVP.
So once again, we’re back to the 2v1 or even 3v1 to even have a chance of decapping a point from an auramancer. And that’s 2-3 GOOD players versus 1 decent/mediocre ele.
rather than fearing their immortality would it not be easier to cc/ burst their 13k health?
Would be great to have other viable builds though, sceptre needs the love for e.g.
Try 25k health, every ele I’ve seen is running a combination of Cleric runes and either carrion or mercenary amulet.
And with nearly permanent self protection and the ability to almost instantly and repeatedly cleanse all conditions, it pretty much takes 2 rogues getting the jump on one simultaneously to even get one under half (then they pop all their immunities and either run away or kite until a teammate gets there).
I think it’s ridiculous that a light armor wearer has more health and armor than a super tanky (designed) heavy armor character like a warr/rev/guard while also having twice the defensive cooldowns and still okay damage that’s also untargeted aoe.
As to the argument of “well if they bunker they can’t kill anything”. That’s wrong. They can easily kill pretty much anything that isn’t a shield herald or berserker, just takes them more than 10 seconds. Yes, when you get to higher levels of PVP skill (high diamond/legendary) it comes down more to player skill than build/class, but it flat-out takes less skill to play an ele well than it does any other class.
How is this even considered playable?
Problems of amber and emerald division are not problems of rest of divisions.
You can’t kill ele auramancer? Maybe because:
1. You try to kill him with other bunker build on his point
2. You don’t +1 him with dps build like thief
3. You don’t try to out rotate him if he’s afk on mid.
4. You don’t know that ele is pure support build , not tank and he can’t tank 1v1 some classes in good hands like rev, mes, thief.
5. You don’t know how to use your build – one moa can kill ele if used with coordinated team.
6. You never played ele and you just don’t know what are talking about.
Ok, new to this argument but I’m seeing a problem here.
“Oh, you can’t kill ele? Here, try these 6 things, 4 of which include “use an entire coordinated team to kill him, but only if you happen to have the perfect mix of classes” and the other two consist of “fight around him, he’s unkillable but won’t do much by himself”.
If one class is SO OVERWHELMINGLY POWERFUL that the best advice is “2v1/3v1 him” and thus implying it takes multiple people doing everything just right to kill a single elementalist, then perhaps the elementalist is too powerful?
Right now, literally no class can reliably 1v1 an ele, assuming both players are equally skilled. They can fight to a draw, maybe chase the ele off a point, but not outright kill him. And the only one that even comes close is signet necro. Yes, you get a better necro against a worse ele, necro’s gonna win. A good player can kill a bad player (reliably) regardless of classes involved.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Combo I believe this is pretty useful link here. Learn the meaning of combo fields. Anyone can gain stealth with blast or leap finisher if someone on your team has a smoke field.
Well, as long as this topic is up, I have a legit question.
Very first league match today on Skyhammer, and as soon as our gates opened the entire enemy team was standing at the bottom (of our spawn) waiting for us, and within less than 3 seconds had capped all 3 points despite all 5 of them being at our spawn. Needless to say, it was a slaughter.
I have encountered, in unranked, a couple times where someone from the enemy team beats us to our home point and simply chalked it up to some insane movement ability I don’t understand yet (only 1 80 so far so I don’t know everyone’s abilities). But this was ridiculous. Not sure if it’s a bug/exploit with portals or what, but my entire team cried hax.
Is this something that can be done legitimately, or did I actually encounter some hackers?
League match? Skyhammer isn’t in ranked. Think again. Was this unranked match or hotjoin? Also if any hacks were included I seriously doubt the whole team would be using them. There are some known players who probably use some kind of hack that can give your character immortality(you get downed but you can rez freely since you can’t get stomped or be damaged) and instant teleport. Dunno if these guys are banned already since I haven’t seen anyone cheating since last ranked season.
Yeah I screwed that up, it was unranked. Definitely skyhammer though.
I know there’s a third-party program that allows instant teleportation (of both you and others, just need character ID) to any set of X,Y,Z coordinates you feel like, pretty much as fast as you can type or cut/paste them. I don’t know if it works in PVP, I know it works in WvW, and I know it’s a bannable offense.
Couple options I can think of:
-if you’re inactive a set amount of time (no combat, let’s say 1 minute) you get ejected from the match automatically.
I can’t think of any possible scenario where a legitimate player won’t hit/be hit by anything for a whole minute in PVP. But just in case, I’ll take a page from WoW’s battlegrounds circa Burning Crusade:
-no movement for 30 seconds and you’re ejected from the match
Now, why do I choose ejecting them from the match? Win, lose, or tie they get NOTHING from the match. No reason to afk because no reward. It would also encourage people to keep fighting even in a losing game. Perhaps put in a mechanism that prevents pip loss for league players if someone on their team got auto-booted.
Now to a second point: Slightly increase rank gain/reward track progress for losses. The win bonus is a heck of a lot of progress, why not throw in something like a “persistent defender” bonus (something like a “you lost, but you held/captured X number of points against a superior force, here lemme double those measly 5 points per cap” thing) for people who lost but put their soul into it? It would also help legitimately good players that got stuck on bad/AFK/troll teams.
Once again, we have individual players who get reported multiple times hours apart today, yesterday, last week and nothing is done. I’m not even talking about people “no use in not afking because we can’t save a pip mode.” I’m talking people running out to the map, sitting and just afking. I know you wanted to move the entire Dev team to raids, but keeping at least one person watching reports would be cool.
This PvP season has been a blast. I made a whole thread on it. Today, even with logging to take breaks for hours at a time, I’m running into the same 4 people afking. If I’m going to lose, at least make it fun.
Give the players decent matchups and many of them will just stop afking. The reason ANet is not able to ban the afkers is proable because their are more players that afk during kittenty stomp fests then there are players actually playing the game mode right now.
Yall kept pushing highly lop sided match apond them. Now they push afking on yall. I think it’s a fair trade, don’t you?
This.
From a primarily unranked perspective, there are a LOT of players that afk from the beginning. A lot of it seems to go “Oh, the enemy team has 2 ele’s (or any other combination of classes that is currently brokenly powerful, or when a rando group of solo-queuers get stuck against a high-diamond 5-man)? I’m afk, GL guys” before the match has even started.
On one hand, this is INCREDIBLY crappy behavior from the players, but on the other it speaks to how unbalanced PVP and the matchmaker is currently.
Speaking strictly from an unranked perspective, probably 15% of my matches will have at least 1 player AFK from before the gates even open, and probably 70% will have someone AFK at some point. I know that, being unranked, it’s not like I’m losing progress because of it, but it pretty well guarantees I won’t gain ground either.
I’ve even had matches where 2 or 3 players were AFK from the onset, including players that were grouped together.
The reason fir this is extremly simple, because teams of 5 won’t fight against solo q.
Odd?
When i start in a 5 man group, i face mainly 3-5 man groups, and because i am causal/not used to my group, this put’s us in a dissadvantage (specially if 5 vs 5) because at this point only the very best stayed kitten man groups – and i am not close to their skill level.
Therefore solo q or duo is better for me if i want to win.
Also if one above my rank is in that group, we face even stronger enemys, puting us in an even bigger disadvantage.
And of there are not much new 5man groups, there won’t emerge new good 5 man groups with practice…
Funny, I exclusively solo queue and routinely get put against 5-man premades with a total PUG group. I also routinely get put against 5-man premades that are well and truly outside of my MMR (5-man legendary vs. PUG low amber, since I just started league).
I’m currently 0 for 30 in Amber and so far every single team I’ve fought has had at least 2 diamonds, and 10 of them had at least 1 legendary. I fought the same 5-man, 5-legendary team 3 games straight.
