Thank you for the very detailed reply, I think I’ll just stretch out the crafting process as long as possible and if news about HoT is out then I’ll do the possible new meta, otherwise zerk it is.

Seeing as how huge of an investment making ascended is I’d like some input from more experienced players.
1) Zerkers or? My main concern with making zerkers gear is that come the HoT release they will nerf the hell out of it and I end up with some very expensive skins. Am I wrong to suspect this or is this a concern some of you have?

2) I know ascended really isn’t needed until you get into high level fractals, which I may add I haven’t run yet, as such is zerkers still that way to go or do you want more defense at that point?

3) Kinda related but weapon wise currently I have 1 berserkers staff/1 bunker staff (from a pvp reward luckily enough), 1 zerker dagger and 1 zerker focus. Should I bother making a second ascended dagger or a scepter? Or would those be used infrequently enough that having exotic weapons would suffice? (as a side note, unless some of the new legendaries are really cool I have little interest in making one)

For reference as to what I do, mainly easy dungeons as d/f or staff for certain situations. I’d like to start running Arah, but I don’t really have anyone to group with to learn it. I’d also like to eventually get into doing fractals, which I’ve hardly touched so far.

P.S I’ve also thought about making the entire set without the inscriptions and leaving it that way until HoT drops, but I’m not sure if I should do that or just make the set right away

thank you both for the responses, I have ascended zerker trinkets/jewelry on my ranger so maybe I’ll try the soldiers training wheels. Also thank you for the videos, I’ve come to understand that positioning is really important for ele’s as they have a really low health pool.

I just recently made an ele for the sole purpose of WvW, mainly running in zergs as I’m not a huge fan of solo roaming. I’ve been reading the forums and watching various youtube videos regarding WvW ele’s and I’ve got a few questions.

1) I’m not sure which weapon is the best fit for zerging, I do like playing staff and I’ve seen a lot of back and forth as to the benefits of staff as opposed to d/d
2) gear choice wise I’ve seen some that recommend full zerker and others that say cele or bust.

As for my own play style I’m not a huge fan of running in melee, I prefer to hang back and nuke from a distance (something I’ve done with my ranger just spamming LB5 every time its off cool down and bursting down with LB2 when people try and escape), staff seems to be the best fit for this but I don’t know the class well enough to really say if its better or not.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, especially if you could point me in the direction of guides or something. Thanks in advance!

So while I was doing some ETOM I was lucky enough to find an Occam’s armor chest (carrion stats) and a Gobrechs armor chest (Valkyrie stats). I have yet to open them as I’m not sure what would be the best use for them? I’m still quite new to GW2 and don’t have much experience with anything other than my ranger. I didn’t want to open it and choose the wrong armor type and waste these drops.

If someone could be so kind as to inform me which classes/builds would benefit the most from either the carrion or Valkyrie stats I would greatly appreciate it!
