Arcane Blast is a projectile finisher or whatever it is called. Its combo finisher is to stack Vulnerability on the target.
Anything that states “combo finisher” in a combo field, will present some form of effect. Maybe I should have added something like that ring of fire to specify. When casted 1 after the other with a short interval you’d gain 6 stacks of might. Casting both simultaneously gives 3.
I am pretty sure there is an internal cooldown on combo finishers in combo fields Arcanorum Ignis. But I am not 100% sure. Casting both the arcane blast and wave at the same time do not provide both combo finisher buffs. Although, if I am wrong, then I guess we can add that to the list of bugs.
@Bond lololol so you cry about every class and losing 1/3 of your life per hit and still refuse to 1v1 and claim they’re overpowered and ele deserves a buff right? I wont even LOS and you can use a ranger if you wish. I accept a duel from any class and you still back down… Just stop posting please, ele is fine the way it is, if not, it’s possible too good. You were the one that said it’d win b/c of the amount of room in a wvwvw and the lack of LOS. QQ more or duel? And I said “any class”, you don’t have to use a thief/mesmer if you do not wish to.

@Bond lol do you understand that the entire basis of something being op or up revolves around the class or unit being able to play any roll at all in the game? If an ele destroys a ranger, and YOU SAY they do not apparently, then YOUR CLAIM that an ele is garbage and gets destroyed by a ranger is completely false. That is what it proves if you beat me in a 1v1. Saying it does not show anything is rather childish when you keep telling everyone in here that a ranger has no problem killing ele’s when you can’t even reproduce what you say in game.
EDIT: I will even give you the benefit of the doubt and let you try ALL the classes against me (not just the ranger, everything) in a 1v1 spvp and wait for you in the room.

Ele vs ranger ofc bond. You say a ranger destroys ele, I say otherwise. Also you stated rtl connects 20% of the time previously and now claim it is not bad. Blinds go through stability, rolls, and especially, once again, closing the distance. Keeping behind a ranger means they can’t hit you… Just say you’re going to dodge 1v1 rather than come up with an excuse please.
@Hsulf
What happens if my opponent knows he can roll? or remove conditions? or walks to the left? Phoenix is already simple enough to land. But I will humor you and play along. Lets compare F vs D. I’ll compare the 4 and 5 skill with both offhands.
Fire: Flame Wall; 4x longer cast time, harder to land, does significantly less damage, (~2k less) much harder to evade, if at all, while preforming combo finishers in that tiny rectangle, longer cd. On the plus side, it has a 2s longer duration…
Fire Shield; Once again, incredibly less damage(~800 less), have to be in range for the entire duration to connect the damage. On the plus, it’s an instant cast, may be helpful with trait combos, slightly lower cd.
Gust: A ranged chill. Good for chasing, which you wont be doing much of with a focus. Much weaker than frost aura since the entire point of pvp is to hit the player. (If it does somehow scare them from attacking you? o.O then 7s shield? you can tell how dumb that sounds which means they’re going to be chilled for a longer duration than gust would do.)
Comet: 2s daze is decent. vs a heal that removes a condition, something you and your allies would need too.
Swirling winds: I personally find it useless since the ranged class would switch to melee weap. vs RTL, gap closer and helpful to connect updraft/earthquake.
Gale: Ranged updraft? Longer cast time, longer cd, single target. (updraft is aoe)
Magnetic Wave: Pretty good survivability spell, nothing a cantrip can’t deal with. vs Earthquake, aoe 2s knockdown.
Obsidian Flesh: another survivability spell. I would say the best focus spell, being able to still cast and atk while invul. While churning earth is difficult to land it’s aoe is huge and is bound to hit one, if not, a couple targets combined with lightning flash (unless they all simply roll at the same time [sadface.jpg]). I can get it to hit for over 10k with my bunker ele if they aren’t smart enough to remove the condition, or wasted their removals from the other kd/stun.
I think it is fair to say offhand dagger is superior to focus in burst, cc, and as support in teams. Focus being a little more well rounded along survivability (which can go either way btwn dagger vs focus if toughness/healing was accounted for) and single target things? I find the lack of aoe cc terrible if a team fight ever occurs, as well as not being able to chase. I think some people don’t recognize that aoe kd is pretty much the same as a survivability spell (how are they supposed to nuke if they’re on the ground unless they waste a break stun).
I have already tested rtl with my friends. It does connect with moving targets. I have no problem at all downing a ranger, and I find them the weakest class out of all in pvp. I still think you should 1v1 me just to confirm your theory, but if you wish not to then don’t make up you own conclusions and just act like “oh it’s just because ele’s are bad”. Other than that, I have no qualms with any other classes and find nothing overpowered. Every class has something it’s good at.
Matter of personal preference? Dragon tooth is more of a shield against melee by standing under it rather than actually trying to land it(or forcing them off point), just like any of the other slow cast time spells. Lightning 2,3 are instant and can be casted during any channel, knockdown, or stun(as well as water#4, but you don’t need a scepter to do that). If you prefer chasing down players go D/D.
You seemed to make it sound like being hit for 6k is an instant end to an ele. And make rtl sound like a useless ability. You give too little credit to it and for me it rarely bugs. Terrain plays a huge part, even the smallest bump on the ground will often ruin it. Jumping before casting it is also slightly helpful for a successful hit.
EDIT: OHHH my mistake, I read incorrectly and thought Bard was Bond. I am sorry for the confusion.
(edited by Micro Hard.3601)
@Bard I challenge you to a 1v1 spvp match in an empty room. If you wish to stay arrogant about it and just cry then feel free. I am confident that I will not lose against any class. That said, I may end up in a rare stalemate where niether player dies, but will not fall.
Cheers.
Also for your fun fact, a ranger has 1575 maxed with trait and long bow. RTL has 1200 + blink has 900 + 2 rolls easily reaches that… which would be rare to even start at that range.

For real? Ive died countless times to rangers due to rtl beeing kitten (ive literally lost 70% of hp due to this retardation). All they have to do is kite and if in open wvw you are dead with zero chance. Pet alone does 1k/hit. However if rtl hits by some miracle you have a chance.
There is a reduced movement speed from moving left/right and an even larger reduction flat out going backwards. As long as you are traveling forward you’ll be faster than them. Although rtl does bug up sometimes, it is mostly due to terrain. Keeping it on flat ground will always hit the target with the exception of rolling, stuns, knockdowns (which is rather dumb not being invul in that state) and easily closes the distance. The blink cantrip, as well as your own stuns/knockdowns should make it easy enough to prevent kiting from being a problem.
S/D or D/D is the way to go.
Staff is just as weak as having a focus.
I started with an ele and found the game incredibly hard having no idea on what to actually do. I soon rerolled a ranger for it being too difficult and found ranger to be incredibly easy to solo in pve with considering you have a pet to tank everything for you and just mindlessly spam “tab1” all day long. Eventually I hit lv80, fully geared exotics and spamming gold on cultural pieces. When I had nothing left to do I tried pvp and wvwvw and got demolished by pretty much every class. I was shocked at how poor the ranger did in 1on1 situations and switched back to my ele with a substantially larger amount of knowledge I had before attempting to play an ele. I read all the skills, and traits and tested everything out, finding that staff and focus are the worst possible weapons you could use when utilizing every skill. That cc’s, cantrips and healing power play a gigantic roll. And that ele is rather overpowered in any 1on1 pvp situation. I am disappointed I rolled a ranger, but I probably would have quit the game if I kept playing on my ele without knowing what skill does what, and what stats are more beneficial. And although ele does not really have an “afk atk” and has to constantly cast, I find this the most enjoyable class. Mine is now lv80 fully geared and I am pleased playing this class. Let me know if anyone wishes to have a friendly duel with me 1v1 =D.
TL;DR : It is a challenging class starting off with as OP stated. It has the most spells in the game, use all of them to get the best out of it. It is fun!
“Bountiful Power — Function bug
Supposed to do more damage for each boon on you, but stability doesn’t count for increasing damage.”
It is not ONLY stability. EVERY boon does not give any bonus damage at all. (Unless it is hidden in the character stats, but it is not visible.)
oh, that’s unfortunate =(
thx for the information
As the title stats, I want to craft the light armor called “Champion’s PvP armor”. Just wondering if anyone knows the recipe for it or if they are even released.
Note: I am looking for the PvP armor recipe, not the PvE one.
same stats, exotics are maxed out, once you have the stats on all the exotics you want just work on cosmetics
make it instant cast, reduce damage by over half
anyway, Baladir is right, it is a PvE skill and the highest sustained dps skill an elementalist has based on its cd in comparison to all the heavy hitting nukes.
the majority of people that do WvWvW just go berserker… or at least the squishy targets, which is understandable and shows why rubys are so expensive. Those people do not understand how to play and most of the time it is just a zerg fest of ranged players. It is completely understandable that they die in 4shots and they deserve it. Although, I do find the number of escapes on a thief is too much. And rangers are literally walking targets with like 1 escape where the pet is supposed to tank for a short period, and even then the pet wont defend unless it is fairly close to the ranger and he’d be dead before that happens.
trait skills have separate cooldowns from ultility skills, so you can have two armor of earths/arcane shields
if anyone has ever looked at the damage of the skills, dragons tooth is the 3rd strongest dmg spell, almost the strong as firegrab except it is literally 8x shorter on cooldown compared to anything else that comes close to its dmg. If people ever do expect it to get buffed for a higher chance of connecting with their target, be prepared to expect a pretty hefty dmg reduction/cd increase coming along with it. As for PvE it is the highest sustained dps spell for an ele.
Why mono? You have 20 main spells you can cast, with the addition of traits that proc based on dodge/re-attuning giving 8/more activatable bonus spells to consider. As well as the 3 utility spells to help out with the spec you’re going into, which is much easier to combine when you have more options to play with. Furthermore it’s even more stifling to play with mono when you are restricted to such long cooldowns and only 5 spells. You have 4 elements, use them. I’d also suggest trying other classes as they fit the mono roll much better and may be more fitting to how you play.
arcane power: next 5 atks crit >.>
If you were aiming for an answer around just being able to get 100% crit through passives than I highly doubt it. I have 54% on my ranger with all exotic beserker gear + divinity set by itself. I know ele can get +10% passive, the +5% sigil on weap and the charge stacks as well as a full prescision set so maybe closer to somewhere around ~90%. Combined with switching attunement buff to gain fury (20%) would easily hit 100% but then you wouldn’t really be able to claim you had 100% at all times.
Source: me, lv80 ranger, lv80 ele
Bountiful Power: Deal 2% more damage for each boon on you.
As the title states. I stacked vigor, might, regen, protection, stability, and swiftness all together and both my power and attack remained the same with the exception of the single might stack.
