Combination of both ranking up and mystic toilet
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/55030-pvp-mystic-forge-recipes/
For me sPvP and tPvP is all I play.
Personally, I match myself to adapt to classes I know I can beat, classes that I might struggle, and builds I know I can’t beat. I know people have done this: they fight to the death knowing they can’t beat the class they are currently fighting. Very often these are the same people who call other classes OP, and call rangers underpowered in PvP.
Especially when the new necros came out, I was shocked how I couldn’t beat them the first few days, but after a while of adjusting strategy and careful plan of attack, I win my 1 v 1s with the “op” necros. I agree they are a bit over the top, but that doesn’t make rangers underpowered does it?
Miro is right. My advice, ask for help. There are plenty of rangers out there willing to help you learn and fight like a champ (like me). In pvp the warrior is probably in the worst spot, and is receiving the short end of the stick, now this doesn’t mean there aren’t warriors out there who can’t win 1v1s. I know a few who play the class very well.
The profession doesn’t determine how you can win, the player behind him does. It’s like if you have a knife and I have a stick, if I work hard enough with my stick, I can beat you all the time even if you do have a knife. People don’t like to play the professions strengths, they like the “pew pew and your dead” strategy, which doesn’t work well with ranger class. You wanna pew pew? roll messies.
still looking for some cool peoples.
The best way to use your heal is to heal close to 95% of your total hp. This gives you time to last longer by extending the amount of hp you get per second.
For example, if your heal is at 5k, you wait until you take about 5-6k dmg to use your heal. This will put you up back 90%+ and your heal would be on cool down. Most good players will know their strengths enough to be able to use their heal at the right time. Your goal as a player is to break your opponents hp/sec gain. This is probably what is happening when you see them low in hp. Of course the main goal is to kill, but lessening your opponents heal/sec is just as good.
Guardians have like one of the highest hp/sec gain in game, so some can afford to get low before they use their heal.
Hope that helps you understand.
Steamhawke is awesome, played with him a few times before they put on the LB. Back when Nades had the super “bang”.
Hola guild wars pvp universe,
I’m looking for a group of people to play with, I am a champ hunter, 90% of my games played with a ranger, I stopped playing so much after the leaderboards popped in, because of school (just played like 100+ games after). But under my belt I have played 700 tourneys with ranger, 200 with other professions. I play once a day with spvp for the dailies to keep myself from going rusty.
I actually just recently checked and I made it to top 900
Lately, I’ve been itching to play more tPvP since I’m on call this summer. That being said I cannot commit to any time schedules, but if you want a reliable person to play with I’m your guy. I know where to be and how to get there, I can follow instructions sometimes (lol Jk).
Anyway, looking forward to seeing some of you guys, just add me or mail me or send me a PM if you need anyone.
Btw I’m r 40 if you guys are wondering.
First of all I see your point, and I agree.
Frankly, I thought it used to be 900 range all along. Anyway, I think the main problem comes for people who do dungeons and WvW, both which I don’t do much of. The range is too short to engage enemies at a safe distance. I usually run trap builds for tPvP and sPvP, and I don’t mind the SB changes, since I have to be 600 range for my traps to do damage.
Rangers don’t have a whole lot of skills for their arsenal. Like our shouts kinda suck… Sigs are alright, and survival skills like muddy terrain and sharpening stone are almost really never used. So the SB range cuts our potential. Some of our traits are awesome though, like empathic bond. The fury and swiftness every wep swap is pretty strong. i would like to see trap potency and trapper expertise merged though (might be too OP but it can give us more options). The changes they added to SB damage was cool though, it’s not much, but it compensates for the pet damages reduction. Even with pet damage reduction, it was still alright, except for the armor fish and the jelly
Overall the SB changes make it hard for rangers to fight at a distance, I’m noticing it when I try to drop chief or svanir, it’s a bit harder but I will find a way eventually. I started to play around with the LB, not much significant change, but a bit more viable than before.
However for me, I fight within 400-700 range because I like to be brave even in PvE, so I don’t mind the changes, but I feel for those who WvW and dungeons, because it is A LOT harder. Good players adapt though, and provide feedback.
Zephyr speed is the only change I didn’t like Anyway that’s different.
The main problem I had with it, even if we DID have a decent place to stand with our long bow, its almost always away from the point your protecting, anyone can easily dodge around while capping your point. If you want damage you run away to a safer spot above or farther, leaving you useless in sPvP (can’t cap). If you want to hold your point, a warrior (a decent one) will eat you alive rendering you even more useless. The knock back is good short range to create space, but how often do you get to use it? (not often enough, because its control). Damage needs to stay the same for all ranges I think, but I would love to see like condition addition, as ranges gets greater. Like, for super short range, nothing happens; semi long, bleed? or short duration cripple? maybe; but if long range bleed + cripple (but it messes with traits so, idk). Anyway, I say our pets should be able to hold points, not necessarily cap them, just stand there and hold them (some special feature for us rangers)
That’ll fix longbow range problems.
Reasons the "ranged" ranger doesnt cut it for dps in PvP - Fix's that are required.

I agree. Another thing that would be cool to see (specially with PvP) is if our pet can function as a point holder. Being ranged class, you have to be able to put some space between you and your opponent, and rangers are not as playable as they could be because tPvP is all about holding your ground. For Rangers we have to constantly leave the spot making it impossible for us to hold a point for a significant amount of time. Especially with SB skill #3 and Sword Skill #2 make you jump considerable amount of space away from the point sometimes (specially Khylo). Space we need to make up by either sprinting or just end up contesting the point.
You could say that your longbow skill #4 can do the job of taking the point. However my problem with that is there is no damage with it, and for the #4 skill to be effective you have to run towards the enemy giving up your ground you placed in between you and the enemy anyway.
Rangers are playable in PvP, but extremely restrictive for any functionally. Mainly because we aren’t as good as other classes
I personally win my 1v1’s (most of them anyway as a ranger), but I would love to see some changes that would give this class “the edge” we’ve been looking for.
These are just my thoughts, but for exploiting purposes the pet effect should only be viable if the master is close by, like within a certain amount of radius from the pet.
I do A LOT of PvP, so one thing I would love to see especially with sPvP and tPvP is that our pet be able to hold the points (when the player is nearby of course), even when the player steps out of the point. So we can run around and drop damage around while our pet functions as the support or vice versa. (it will make up for the pet not attacking moving targets, though I would love to see that also) Kinda like rampaging as one, you know? Pet-Ranger Bond should go hand in hand
