I have never been this excited for content as I am now..

I think that it should be like GW1 expansions..

A story from outside the view of the continent we are on, they know nothing of scarlet or the goings on in GW2 continental areas but slowly discover a threat to the whole world. Leading into the core game. It should have a massive story driven beginning like the tutorial level but until level 10 or so and it should wrap up with people from our continent landing on their shores spreading the word about the impending threat of the dragons.

New features:
All existing races choose which story/continent to start from.
2 New Races, any existing within story..or even something new.
1-3 New classes, one being the 3rd heavy armor spot (Im thinking a armored spellsword like class focused on control effects rather than dmg.) and the other being some re-imagining of the dervish with a lore twist.
5 New weapon types, Pole Arms (this includes scythes), Heavy Axe, Katar/Fist, Double blade (two handed light weapon, think darth maul…), Whip.
Existing classes with new weapon options.
Traits brought up 2-4 MORE points (great way to increase level cap without going above 80.)
3-5 New Legendary weapons.
3 New Dungeons.
Revamp to overall world. DYNAMIC changing zones that can either be player controlled or lost to the AI enemies. Destroyed cities dead merchants..the works.
5-10 new zones. (Centered around Elona or Cantha preferably. Could be something new.)
New Conditions and Condition system.
Revamps on enemy functions and AI (more like TA aetherpath/drytop or better. Not a billion HP without the ability to stun…but something that has cool functions to adapt to.)
New voices for our beloved characters SO WE DONT ALL SOUND THE SAME. (preferably with a pitch slider for simulated differentials.)
Balancing and polishing old content and systems.
New Dungeon types 3 Man and Guild dungeons.

That sounds pretty sizable id gladly pay 100$ to see that.

We now have 16 trait points. What is OP?

You know I’ve watched people STAND STILL and not move…not because of zerker gear…because they dont know how to play. I am sorry I dislike the casual player base, they may be supporting this game, but they are simultaneously making this game easier and less mentally engaging than a 24/hr sesame street marathon.

Therefore we have this dynamic with our community:
When somethings too easy people complain… When somethings too hard people complain.
When people like me want to see other things to do BESIDES standing around in cities, we get told no by people whom this new content wouldn’t obviously affect.
Maybe it would because they would be jealous that there was content that they FINALLY couldn’t get.
I for one would love 8-10 man duns, I have enough close friends in game who are more skilled than 90% of this _________ playerbase. (Choose your own word.)
Why does everyone have an aversion to working with a team IN A MMO!? Do you know how counter intuitive this sounds? “Maybe this game isnt right for YOU!” —-ha see what I did thar?

I would love to see this and have recommended it several times to no avail.

I would however like to see this type of thing locked behind a quest like in RO.
Maybe one that requires 200 Skill points and 100k karma to start. Those job quests were very memorable to me and gave the game a lot of perspective from your classes POV.

Also I would love to see multiple paths for each class. (names are examples.)

Warrior TO →Blademaster —OR-- Warlord TO →(Warlord previously)Balthazar’s Hand —OR-- (Blademaster previously)Fury

Guardian TO →Kataphract —OR-- Paladin TO → Neophite —OR-- Templar / Temple Knight.

Thief TO → Vagabond —OR-- Assassin TO → Shadowstalker —OR-- Reaver.

Each class should open up CLASS specific skills that can be swapped outside of combat like in GW1.

Maybe a new auto attack for each different class ( aka 2-3 new #1 chain combo)
New 2-5 skills as well.

These skills would be interchangeable with any of the previous in slot skills for that weapon type as easily as we change utilities. This would bring diversity to builds but Anet would have to be careful with balance and power.

I would like to say that if the content was the challenge and not the drop rate, it wouldn’t be a grind more than a skill issue. What they did with Tequatl was OK not the best…but IMHO it should be harder with a guaranteed drop upon completion. A way to hint at your accomplishment. I guess I just would like to see more challenge with a guaranteed reward for that challenge. Give me something to rise to.

I have been playing this game from release, and a lot about this game is great. But…
A lot of the game is becoming not so great.

Here are a few helpful suggestions to help get back on track:

Karma and Obsidian Shards:
While I have noticed a massive change in the way we can gather obsidian shards. Please consider re-balancing karma and its rewards. Give us new ways to earn karma outside of combat and outside of a farm train. Maybe a lore related way by investigating objects implemented in the world with a little fluff…or by talking to npcs. The other half of this is make karma rewards more beneficial for the higher leveled events/heart quests. Bring back ways to get jugs of karma in the world and not just in reward chests.

This leads me to the other suggestion…

Reward the player for time spent and difficulty:
This has been tended to very well recently, but there is still an issue with most events/activities that take an hour but don’t reward quite as well as it should. All I am asking is for a little more balance so that we can accomplish events that most don’t do and be rewarded for doing something challenging. I understand that gold is a touchy issue with the economy but maybe take gold rewards out of the equation and add in more karma, exp, and even loot bags for each tier of participation. Gold, Silver, Bronze.

The one thing about this game that I find sort of lackluster is…

The lack of Boss specific skins:
This has had some effort put into it but I would love to see more, and not just re skins
of already existing content. Hear me out for a second, could you imagine if baelfire actually dropped his personal sword at a low rate? How about a back piece from Shadow Behemoth? What if Anton’s Boot Blade dropped at a rare chance from pirates or from a pirate boss? I miss this system, because instead of a random rare dropping from anything a person would have to spend time on a specific enemy. This would also highly boost replayability for some of the older content and underused events/bosses. Maybe this could introduce NAMED champions/miniboss events. It also adds a layer of immersion when a specific monster type drops its specific item. The current system of loot tables dosnt need to be scrapped just have these items that can only be obtained in this manner added to them. It would open the game up for that super rare skin that drops from that boss/dungeon so that players could say “look what I did.”

Make linear quests a thing again for endgame pve content:
Specific Npcs that open up instances for parties or single player questing.
Quests of this type would breathe life back into the game. Making us journey from Kryta to Orr all over again doing specific tasks and meeting the characters in a new way personally. Have our role play into the dialogue, are we fierce with our responses? Or do we have a subtle charm? I would love to earn a legendary by having a chain of quests that were extremely hard. Not fetch quests but something along the lines of 1 player explorable difficulty dungeons or instances with multiple paths each changing the story and rewards of the quest. Each “one man army” quest rewarding us for completing truly HARD content, testing our dodging, timing, builds, and even roles in combat. It could be as simple as implementing multiple events in a single instance…protect X npc. Escort Y NPC. Hold this position. Defeat X boss. Flee the facility in X time. Discover the hidden switch in X time (Randomly generated position in a room). Solve X puzzle. End quest. Any mix of these would work, but also make failure an option. If a person fails make them feel it, but also give them a chance for redemption. Possibly through a fail path quest-line that re ties into the other quest lines.

Well I feel the first healing skill should use some toning down. 8,000+ healing seems a bit much considering the average is 5,000. I would have the time scale to how much you heal, let’s say you heal 4k you get a 25 second cool down, 5k you get a 30s cd, 6k-7k you get 35s cd, and 8k cd.

Another thing is that I don’t like how many previous class mechanics are mushed in. You should replace mantra with something else because Mesmers all ready have them. Elysium shouldn’t be a a shadow step because only thieves do that but should be a dimensional mist teleport instead.

Well tbh I just used shadow step as a reference(lack of a better word)…Mist teleport is nice…Done taking that now.

IDK most heals are actually in the 7k range…tbh warriors heals 9k guardians 8k thieves hide in shadow is 7k if u count the regen. But i like the cooldown idea, you dont think having the mists energy would be enough of a setback?

Btw a Mantra is just a chant, I get that mesmers have it…but eh ill figure something else out for the name.

Eh tbh it still need s a lot of feedback and balancing…but the whole problem is theorycrafting…never works.

Can you tell me what skills seem overpowered…? So I can take another look at balancing again..Im already looking up existing skills and cooldowns and stuff…to try to match them.

Lore: Prophets of the end times, a mysterious cult order born from the mists whom was thought to be legend only appearing at the awakening of the dragons. It is unclear whom they serve, but it is clear that they come in Tyria’s time of need. They do not worship gods or nature but the infinite energy of the mists and everything within it, to them everything is sacred. They seemingly posses knowledge of future events as if lived first hand, they also claim to be able to “jump between dimensions of here and now and there and when,” their goal is stopping what they call Irkalla, or the great void, nothingness, a place of no return. Irkalla has claimed many existences in which the dragons were not stopped.

Heal:
AZURE SERGE 20/30s/35s cd.
Use the energy of the mists to heal yourself. Each stack of Mists Energy heals for more and provides bonuses.
0: 4,000 heal.
1-3: 5000-6,500 heal. Regen and Retaliation 3s.
4: 7,200 heal. Regen and Retaliation 5s, transfer 2 conditions. Gain 3 Mists Energy

HEALING HYMN Passive 0s cd. Active 20s cd.
Chant using the mists energy to heal over time transferring a condition every 40s.

For 15 seconds you take all damage and conditions for one targeted ally. Gaining 10 Mists Energy.

PROPHETIC CHANT 90s cd.
For 10 seconds future events flood your mind as words spill from your lips. Giving you insight to combat every three seconds.
One of these at random every 3 seconds: Aegis 5s. Quickness 3s. Vigor 3s. Fury 3s

I mean no disrespect from what I am about to say, but honestly someone needs to say something…
Prophet Noun :
a person who advocates or speaks in a visionary way about a new belief, cause, or theory.
“a prophet of radical individualism”
a person who makes or claims to be able to make predictions.
It does not have to be religious you wikipedia scholar, you.

I never once mentioned using poison… for your thief comment…eles use double daggers are they ripping off thieves too?

Also hood and scythe=/= reaper I have a thief who uses a hood, does that make him a reaper….kitten , your post is filled with some otherworldly hate as if your some expert on the matter of new classes, as with the problem with most people today they all think they know what the hell is best for everyone and don’t have any humility. Grow up.

And while I may have posted about a Dervish, from the overwhelming negative response i decided to do something creative and yes its lore may even be tied to dervish it could be an order that allows everyone to play as a “spiritual successor”
to dervish, what have you done, besides complain I mean?

What are you trying to do to make sure this game dosnt die in a few years? Cause at this rate without some meaningful content thats whats going to happen.

That’s besides the point then you make a recommendation that I shouldn’t be a concept designer…if you knew anything about me you’d know I work as a concept lead…. this is the problem with people today…speak before you know, look before you leap… And on top of that a close minded mentality that operates in “black or white” and has no shades of grey… (ex: Dervish they were a religious based class, same like the monk, Prophets are basically harbengers of the gods…) Firstly Dervish can be changed it has been 200 years, and with the silence of the so called gods things either change or die…period. Secondly….you can be a prophet and have nothing to do with religion… You can proclaim something about a future event….i.e the dragons returning, and you can also tie their lore in with dervish; maybe some of the order knew that at a specific point when X happens Y happens…and thus when X (gods silent) then Y (Restructuring of their inner society, and eventually Dragons awakening some hundred years later.) Even if it wasnt linked to dervish you could always do a spiritual successor to it.

You also laugh at the new weapon type that has been suggested many many times by other forum people. Not to mention with Arena Net already saying they were going to add more weapon types into the game after giving the other classes more already existing weapon types. One of the most recommended was a “Bo staff” or “Great staff” or basically a melee staff….

As for this being the same thread, it is not…because clearly it is NOT a dervish it is unique its in own aspects from dervish besides being able to use a scythe. Read the kitten skills if you cant understand how it differs that is your own problem.

BTW a concept is a concept is a concept…. a concept simply means to come forth with an idea and set it on the table it therefore cannot be either good nor bad as it is just concept and not finalized….

As for your comment about it being an elementalist/guardian…All of the classes have skills that seem like they come from another (on paper that is) until you see its functionality in game. You may be imagining something entirely different from me, and are assuming we are thinking of the same thing….It could be similar but most likely not the same.

As for mixed armor type, it was a concept to not have Anet design a whole new 4th armor type between medium and heavy, an easier alternative, and yes i believe they should open up mixed armor for everyone but thats besides the point. If you read the other posts you would have known I already thought about making it heavy due to the lack of the 3rd heavy profession, and I am still working out kinks in its design.

Well let me ask you this OP. Based on the devs class balancing philosophies seen here.

How would you describe your proposed profession along those lines, in comparision to the other professions?

I would say it lies with close range combat than provides and emphasis support and control of the terrain. They rip booms from enemies and copy them to their allies. They can manipulate boons and gain charges from attacks that eventually allow the class to do ‘something’. They have a good number of cc knockdowns, walls, and mass blindness skills that help mitigate over all damage.

^ what he said and more… there is nothing to mitigate Defiant properly in this game…either…and given there isnt a class focused on close combat cc (yes every class has a couple skills) but not focused….this would be a welcome addition…you see we have to give up the old holy trinity (tank healer dps) for the new holy trinity (damage, control, support.) and the difference between these two trinities is that one locks classes into types while the other allows any class to “spec” into that type…and since we have A LOT of DPS and A LOT of support, we are missing that one thing….Control…when have you seen a class that focuses on kockback chill stun cripple immobilize, and I dont mean spec into this or spec into that I mean its main focus regardless of tree type?

Theres an updated pic…might have to rework it again cause i am not entirely happy with it…when Im finished it will be colored…I have a couple of the skill Icons done…as well.

Also I feel the class should simply be full heavy armor. Since their already two of them they can fill the missing third that never existed. The whole half heavy, half medium really seems interesting yet unappealing.

You know part of me wants this to be full heavy too…a lot.. maybe it should be mist based as well.. as in the mists.

It sounds like a decent idea. It seems like you want the support of something like a Guardian but the conditions of a Necromancer.

You need to keep the best attack at the end of the chain so people don’t avoid the 3rd attack to keep the higher DPS. Even if it applies weakness, chill, or vulnerability the pure damage could possible out DPS the chain.

This whole idea sounds more like you just want slight changes to the Necromancer more than a whole new profession. Infernal Energy = Life force, conditions, lots of AOE, etc. I just don’t think there is enough here to justify a new profession.

While I appreciate the criticism this is more of a control class meaning stuns/chills/knockback…rather than just conditions like the necro…and even so its another melee class that sits on the front lines.. Not to mention the constant play with boons, necro’s deal more with fear/bleed…this class was an idea to help get rid of defiant stacks in pve…control zerg in wvw and just to push off of spots in pvp…. I am still tweaking the pdf though and maybe some input is necessary. Thanks again :p

Oh the Charr KNOW that the Human Gods exists, but that is not really the point. Charr detest gods overall though.
And it is not just the fact that there would be issues with the races, it is also the fact that the Gods have disappeared and no longer really answer the prayers which the Dervish Class is built around.

Thank you for your constructive response unlike the other guy, still even now I think Dervish could exist with a subtle twist in class mechanics and lore… I mean technically the school could change its doctrine still worship gods even silent ones yet since their prayers no longer function as a service to them, they adapt a new form of combat. I mean it has been 200 years… Hell it would be nice to see them using their faith in the gods as new found power…even when the gods aren’t there (maybe that develops into new spells- faith based ones) and maybe even a sect of dervish who don’t believe at all giving them more physical attributes…

One thing is we don’t have all the answers in the story yet, and there is still possibility that maybe the Gods aren’t silent…or gone…maybe they are in preparation for something…I could see them coming back in dire situations…

As for “char know they exist” I was speaking as if each and every charr was an individual…like you or I with our own choice in beliefs and practices…Just because a story/society dictates something doesn’t mean its all or nothing. But regardless chars can be necros and guardians and thats kinda pushing it already.

Honestly though….if/when you guys add new maps consider adding in classes that fit those maps… Dervish seems to fit in so well with this system…

In regards for armor type for Dervish…you could always make a 4th type in between Medium and Heavy. (just sayin) OR just make them have medium chest/leggings/helm (code wise) and heavy boots/shoulders/gauntlets…. this cuts out a lot of clipping issues.

Seriously though, Id pay for this class to be added in….I know some other people have classes they would like to see as well.

I have been noticing a trend lately and it is not until now that I choose to say something.

I have been playing this game since launch, and have enjoyed playing it but the one thing that bothers me is my time spent vs the reward earned.

I will constantly play with the same group of people almost every day with few days excluded, and what I have noticed/my theory is I must have some sort of unintended/ bugged diminishing returns associated with my account.

For example in a 6 hour gaming session I will earn maybe (without bosses)
1 or 2 rares per 3 hours if that (most days I receive none), meanwhile someone else will have pulled 4 exotics…(which i only see maybe one or two in a 2 month period) and this occurs on a daily basis. Every day I play I usually only receive “Grey” loot or no drop at all from the hundreds literally hundreds of enemies I kill, the exception being the few and far between greens and somewhat more prevalent blues. This bothers me as a lot of the people I play with seem to think that either:

A. There is a D.R. bug on certain accounts.
B. Some accounts are rewarded more than others i.e (One guy has pulled 5 precursors in one day/ One guy has up to 3 legendaries and 2 precursors (and yes we’ve done the same methods of obtaining loot/time spent earning loot.)
C. User Bias (now this is a touchy issue but I believe it is a little more than bias.)
D. Saved up to literally 500 champ bags with only 1-2 rares dropping.

All I’m asking is that this be looked into a little further, I’m not asking for immediate satisfaction, just for some sort of diagnostic or reassurance that maybe will point this issue in the right direction, as clearly time spent does not = reward.

I feel that I am missing some point or not saying everything I experienced but,

I love your game and wish your company the best, thanks for your time.

Sadly I too am done for a while until they fix this class….

I’m going over to Warrior, why? Cause I hate non melee combat/Phalanx Armor is pretty sick.
I am aware of guardian as an option, I already have 1 thief 2 warriors 1 guardian 1 ranger….all at 80.

See, I come from the land of back stabs that used to hit 20k+, now I can barely manage 8(most of the time)-12k(sometimes)… and I have a legendary and ascendant weapon full zerker gear and 115% crit dmg 90% crit rate. But yea, as for other builds…I agree we are a joke.

I’m going to say this now, before I hear more information about class nerfs.

I have played the assassin/thief class in every mmorpg Ive played up till now.

I have to say it seems as though this class started off as intended and slowly got nerfed into obscurity.

In every single game on any market in the mmo world Thieves/Assassins have always been highest 1v1 damage, mid to low range hp/def, but had the best evasion of any class. In every concept or iteration it has been a Glass Gatling Gun, unfortunately this is not the case and I notice and have noticed my thief who was my main since the start of this game lose more and more Damage/Mobility/Options…and become more clunky to use in general. Thief was a dream upon release…now its a nightmare.

I think what has happened here is there is too much emphasis on thief class and how others react to it, because we have stealth, (our ONLY means of defense/surprise), we get picked on a lot by the nerf police.

People often times take only into consideration what has happened to them or what they hear about and the common place or stance about thieves is people see them as unfair, I disagree.

When I first saw this game without the trinity I thought “cool a game where the classes stand out by each having something special about them.” I instantly started thinking about how might my thief function, and then other classes. I saw warriors doing huge cleaving blows slow but HIGH DMG, tearing through crowds like butter. I saw thieves using lightning fast Mid dmg, and having the ability to throw down some nice combos, and taking on any class with adaptation/planning (stealth).

Anyway the point is thief is dying/dead….

Proof:
Low damage output
Low Hp threshold
Low Survivability
Losing Movement with every patch.
Losing Build Variation with every patch.
Most hated by other classes. (That says something about our player base, thieves having the closest thing to action combat in a mmo…could it be higher skilled players are using this class? Nah, we must be overpowered…oh wait…nope. Refer to above…and below.)
Stealth Debuff from other classes.
Loss of damage output over time even on auto attacks.
Loss of attack speed on daggers/short bow. <—- this i definitely know happens(ed) regardless of patch notes.

Sounds like Anet hates us thieves huh.

Before people start complaining and comparing…each class does something equally as “delightful” as stealth… Think about it and stop being so biased please.

With all the buzz about the new weapon additions for classes, I would love to see some classes be able to use staffs/staves(too tired to spell correctly.) But I think this would be an amazing addition, especially for thieves.

Heck maybe I just miss dervish so much… (Scythes can be staves)

Think dervish minus the holy tanky powers, mostly just a “medium” aoe terrestrial melee weapon if not maybe just a 1v1 beatstick. Thinking a bit of stuns/knockdowns, maybe a leap/dash, and a bit of evasion…

I wont go into skills mathmatically I’ll leave that to the developers…It’s just a suggestion after all.

But I will say this should have a 4-6 hit auto attack.. like 1,2.-1,2,3.-1 (hits) or 1,2-1-1,2,3 should be wielded with a little finesse like the ranger wields the great sword or sword…a little bit of built in dodge.

It would be nice tho for thieves to have some sort of dash with a blade trail behind them kinda like a shadowstep with a blade trail aoe…that hits after the user reaches the end of the shadowstep…
